To Andrew’s mom - Heroes are not the flashy figures thrown up on the big screen. Heroes are the normal, ordinary humans who step out of their normal, ordinary life and put themselves between that life and the danger around them. Ma’am, your son and his whole team were bonafide heroes in every definition of the word!
This was a beautiful tribute and I hope millions and millions of people see it and learn about these heroes. I live about 30 minutes from Yarnell and everytime I see a reminder of what happened to these men it brings tears.
I’d love to hear the story if you’re comfortable sharing but I understand wanting to keep some memories personal and private. I’m a 36 year old born and raised Arizona boy, my family helped settle this state we’ve been here for a long long time. I have a special level of respect for these men and the service they provided my community.
@@Evergreen1400 Brendan is one of the owners of Holdfast Recovery in Prescott AZ, an addiction treatment center. The best one i've ever been too. Ive been clean off Fent since Nov22. He played basketball with us on Thanksgiving. Legitimately awesome and decent dude. Im glad to have met him.
I just finished watching the movie "Only the Brave". I had no idea about this story. The final scene where they get under cover is absolutely terrifying. The chaos. The fear. Seeing the aftermath when the medic goes in was one of the worst things I've seen in a movie. It was so gutwrenching. I don't wish those final moment on any human being. I'm grateful I came across the story and my heart goes out to those 19 men, to their friends and family, and to their community.
Heroes to a man without question. Any person who is involved with preserving human life deserves all of our respect and admiration. RIP you brave men. I hope Brendan and all the families are doing as well as they can.
I am watching from a few miles down the hill in Arizona as a wildfire burns not 3 miles from my home in identical rough terrain. Thank God, there's no wind today. But in grateful humility, my heart goes out to the families of these heroes. We think about your firefighter. We pray for you. Thank you. Thank you for your unfathomable sacrifice. Our hearts break for you. The people of Arizona look on that site as sacred ground. As long as wildfires burn in Arizona, we will never forget you.
When I heard there was a 20th my heart just sank... The survivors guilt that he couldn't have been then to help I just cannot imagine.. Brother we LOVE YOU
Rip to all the men lost that day I can't imagine the family's pain and the community's pain. I can not watch only the brave with our crying knowing that was someone's dad, brother, son and knowing its based on very true events. That movie hits home so differently then any movie I have watched. 😢
I my thoughts and prayers are with each and everyone of you, your my heroes, for putting your life on the line every day, thank you to the 19 men that perished in the fire 🔥 may you all RIP I will never forget any of you, Thank you again ❤
I live in Prescott Valley and we still talk about it. We did at work about a week ago. In Yavapai county Arizona, it will never not hurt. There are many, many vehicles with the purple stickers on them, or a simple "19".
@@KMF3 you are absolutely spot on--- from that angle it looked like the "gates of hell" at some angles from Wickenburg that June 30, 2013. I am so sorry you had to see it like such. I was up there in those Weaver Mountains with the Granite Mountain Hotshots so my angle was some FFs lighting up down below us. It was not the main fire but what the firefighters did down below us. That was an eye awakening.
@@KMF3 Well, as it was happening which is now near the "OBSERVATION DECK" area of the two-track road, Tex(Sonny) said what we were seeing was a controlled burn that ranchers would do but he said the time of day and with my Kestrel readings, he said if they plan to do that we need to get the heck off the Weavers because they have radios and air attack. He left the area for a good 40 minutes but he was so concerned my family would slap a murder charge his way had I died. I had enough time to get off the mountain. The long arduous way we took is now called the GMHS Memorial park. #11 Anthony Rose we dropped down towards the windmill and went out that way to Lakewood...The horribly traumatic moment started when we saw high officials lying and omitting from the get go until now and the truth has not yet been told. Yavapai County Sheriff's Office owe that to the PUBLIC at LARGE. Frank gathered and labelled and inventoried and wrote 'possibly' and two names of the GMHS and that area has yet to be told to us. I will never get the image of that day, watching on TV, out of my mind. The smoke on the mountain all of a sudden twirling around going back. I live alone but I said out loud " oh,my God, that can't be good", and it wasn't. Terrible sad day , so sad for the families. God bless!
Whata tough and amazing bunch of guys when i heard the saws on the radio transmission i tried putying myself in their shoes seeing fire coming at me very fast can hardly see because of smoke with a chainsaw cutting down brush knowing my shelter is all ill have left it scared me these guys were heros but went through a nightmare
A big shout out to the Yarnell 19 and the one survivor. You are heroes and I was very grateful to help paint the new murals on the side of the Chamber of Commerce building that glorify these fine men.
How absolutely SHAMEFUL to treat the widows of those 19 men who gave EVERYTHING!!!!! Oh it absolutely pisses me right off !!! They SHOULD have gotten all what they were entitled without A WORD spoken !!!! Absolutely DISGUSTING and DISGRACEFUL of those who were against them !!!!!
It’s easy to second guess, or speculate, but I wonder if a few could have made it by running to the house down the hill. What an impossible situation. RIP 19.
Whatever benefits they need that's what you give them period. I never knew they tried to screw them. I'm a first responder so I should not be surprised at that.
Very Sad. I just watched the movie about these men and I never heard of this before. This needs to be seen all over the world when people put their lives on the line to save other people..My heart goes out to all of the families.. May God bless you all..
They were a part of the story; maybe not a part that you liked, but it is as much their story to tell as any. The News people especially; I don’t know about you, but in my community news reporters are as engaged and committed to their community as any.
When it comes down to the money they show you want they really think of you. Their Hollow words are meaningless, show me how much you appreciate me with the money and benefits.

I watch the movie, I cried hard.
May they all Rest In Paradise..
Forever Granite Mountain Hotshots..
I worked on fire crews in Oregon over 20 years ago …
This is very emotional for me to watch …
Breaks my Heart ❤️

The fact that these families had to fight for benefits in the wake of this tragic nightmare is absolutely garbage 🤬

I remember the day clearly. I saw the fire from my house clearly. It was horrifying to see what looked like the whole hill on fire.
What view...from Congress, Yarnell or Peeples Valley?
Wickenburg. And my house is on an opposite hill with direct line of sight to Yarnell hill. Obviously not as high as Yarnell.

Heaven.
I‘m sure u know how to spell but for courtesy of the fallen, it should be spelled right to where they reside
And even though they sacrificed for the town the politicians ignored their families. They were all heroes.

Magnificent Valor.
The autopsies paint a very gruesome picture. Wildfires don’t kill you from smoke inhalation.
My dad would’ve watched all the coverage on this
I am so proud of donut now
