It would be a really tough choice. I love both phones and they both have their strengths and weaknesses. I'm on an iPhone 11 Pro right now (best iPhone ever made in my opinion). When it comes to the camera I'd choose the 14 Pro Max for it's more true-to-life colour science and video quality. If I had to choose a phone for productivity and versatility I'd have to choose the S22 Ultra because Android is just a smarter OS, perfect for tech enthusiasts that want to tailor their device's functionality very deeply.

Excellent video, Aaron. If I were a heavy photo/vid user, I'd have to go with the S22 Ultra. I'm not a fan of the way the iPhone 14 Pro Max takes such 'darkened' photos. I have a 14 Plus and my pics do not look darkened at all. Same with my videos.
But since I'm *not* a heavy photo/vid user, my preference would be the iPhone 14 Pro Max. It's been my experience that nothing beats the Apple Ecosystem due to its ease of use and convenience.

One of the big reasons I went back to Apple is the customer service. Both times I’ve had an issue requiring service with Samsung, they have told me they would send a replacement device. That device never came. Both times I called, I was told they don’t have any in stock and could send me a different device, which I did not want. They then tell me they would send the full cost of the phone back to me. That’s great, but I didn’t want the money back, I wanted the same phone I had in working order.
Apple has never done that to me; if a replacement was warranted, I got it, no questions asked.
Not to mention, the 14 pro max is a wonderful device. Sure, it does lack some features the Samsung has, but it also possesses some of the same features, and in many cases, the iPhone executed them in a much better fashion.
TLDR: you’ll be very happy with either phone; they’re both powerhouses. The iPhone has s better battery. If you want a stress free customer service/warranty experience, go with the iPhone.

If you want an iPhone then nothing beats the 14 Pro Max. But if you want Android I feel the S22 Ultra has still been the best throughout the whole year and considering it released early 2022 that's pretty impressive. The S23U should take things up a couple more levels too, not a massive upgrade from the rumours but probably a solid one.
If iOS had the same level of customisation as android then id absolutely consider using it as my daily but let's be realistic that's never gonna happen, not for a long time at least anyway.

Actually the level of customization on android is way too much for most people. Way too many options, way to menu menus to remember and most customizations will never be used by the general buyer. I have the S22 Ultra and Fold 4. Honestly, I would never play with the amount of customizations available nor choose any of them over my iPhone 14 Pro Max. But that is preference. I am glad iOS doe snot have this level of customization. iOS has just enough and that is all that is really needed.

    • @Alexander0189
      @Alexander0189 Год назад +2

@@enterprisecreations1492 @Enterprisecreations but what you said there is totally down to your opinion of course, which you're free too obviously! Getting used to things comes with time, a lot of people who use ios pick up an android and don't have a clue how to use it, simple because they aren't used to it. It can come across as overpowering and a lot to take in because compared to ios... It kind of is. An android phone can definitely be simple to use if the person using it wants it to be, and if they wanna tweak and adjust things to no end, they can do that too. It's all down to choice is it not? I know plenty people who use android and don't care for the stuff that I do with my device, they just use in the simplest form.
Do you not think it would be nice for the customisation to be there IF the person wants it? Instead of just assuming nobody does and not offering it?

For me it boils down to investment in the overall ecosystem. My investment is in Apple's iOS, so therein lies my preference. I see no point in second guessing my decisions, since I've been making them for several decades now, and second guessing just wastes the relatively little time I have remaining. On the other hand, we have two Windows PCs, one a custom desktop build, and the other being a manufacturer's laptop. I've long since moved on from touting or hyping one type over the other. This is due largely to :::clearing throat::: ecosystem investment. I might've already mentioned that.

The so so battery life, constantly keeping my phone on Power Saving to make it through a day, the constant tweaking in settings, and waiting months just for an Android update to trickle down to my device, I got frustrated after my ZFlip starting giving me only 2 hours of screen on time. I have the 14 Pro Max now. Is it exciting? Well yeah for the first week or so but overall no. Is it head turning like my ZFlip? No because everyone else has an iPhone. But is it reliable? Yes, its buttery smooth and I have awkward moments like worrying about my battery and checking the battery level only to realise “Oh wow so this is what the buzz about iPhone battery life are about”.

It seems that the Samsung has a better wat of showing the darker parts in images. Probably a thing you can manage in te post production with your iPhone, but it's nice if it's good right away. Also the Samsung looks a bit warmer (more yellowish). For the rest they both look very good. The camera is really a personal preference, and it's not that one is outstandingly better then the other.
The mic on the iPhone sounds better, more full.
Although I like (and have used) Android, the iPhone attracts me more. One of the reasons is the round corners, as what you already mentioned in your review is that they (Samsung) press a bit in your hand with the sharp corners.

My 14 Pro Max was just delivered today and I’ve spent the last several hours setting it up.
I don’t mind the lesser configurability. When I was still on Android I used to spend many hours downloading UIs and widgets, arranging icons, what have you. Until I realized I spend 80% of my time in an app and hardly ever see the Home Screen.

    • @avenuePad

That's interesting. Everyone's different. The way I have my widgets set up, I look at Reddit, Messages, Calendar, etc... all on my homescreen. I even respond to emails and messages within my notification shade. Honestly, my personal deal breaker for iOS is the horrendous notifications system. At the risk of being a little hyperbolic, Android 2.1 had better notifications.

      @@avenuePad *"Everyone’s different"*
      True, that.
*"I look at Reddit, Messages, Calendar"*
I have reddit, email, calendar, clock, weather and photos widgets on my home screen. For me, personally (emphasis on "personally") all the extra configurability - launchers, icons, themes, etc. - was a major distraction. I’d spend hours trying out launchers, retheming, rearranging, reorging, only a week later to read some review of some new bestest ever launcher and start all over again.
A year or so of that later I realized the endless search for the perfect look-and-feel was not only a tremendous time sink, it just didn’t make any difference in productivity terms. I get it - for many people that extra configurability is important. For me, not so much.
I’ve not much experience with Android notifications, so I can’t speak to that. But Android lacks iMessage and the Apple ecosystem, both of which _are_ important to me.

@@nathanaelculver5308 Oh, I 100% agree that homescreen configuration can be a massive time-sink. But that's not just an Android thing. iOS users post all the time about their excruciatingly tedious homescreen customizations where they have to go through 10 steps just to configure one icon. Android customization is a lot easier and less time consuming; however, it's still a rabbit hole if you get caught up in it.
I have experience with both iOS and Android notifications. It's not a controversial statement to say that iOS notifications are a hot mess. I'd argue that you don't even have to have Android to compare them with to just realize that the iOS notification system is horrible. Even the most ardent Apple fan will concede that notifications are better on Android.

Lack of customizability compared to Android is a conscious Apple design decision. Maybe those Apple users who spend so much effort trying to work around the restrictions would be happier with a Pixel. For me, consistency of user experience and productivity are more important than the ability to customize icons.
*the iOS notification system is horrible*
_Shrug_ I’ll take your word for it. Except Calendar, Mail and a couple of messaging apps, I disable everything. I prefer a quiet phone, so the only notification feature I need is the ability to disable notifications.

But like you said, if you have invested in multiple Apple products, it only makes sense to grab an iPhone.

I've used both. I'm not an Apple fan. iPhones are clunky and boring, without innovation. The s22 Ultra has the biggest, brightest, best display. iPhones have that inexcusable notch. Why? The Apple ecosystem is annoying and expensive. For example, RUclips Premium is significantly more expensive on my iPhone, because Apple is a rip off. I like to customize my phone, making and applying widgets and icons, which is not possible on an iPhone(without rooting). Repairing a Samsung product is easier and less expensive, than an iPhone. It's also nice to know that my s22 Ultra is not made by slave labor in China. Although iPhones maintain their value, Samsung is very generous when doing a trade. I received $800 trade-in towards my s22 Ultra, a 5% discount and free memory upgrade(from 128GB to 256GB). So it cost me less than $400. Not bad, for a phone that retails at $1,300 with those features.

  • @Demonat865
    @Demonat865 Год назад +3

I upgraded from my iPhone X to an s22 ultra and honestly I regret it. The camera is not to my liking at all and they made turning off HDR impossible to find. I managed to find it once and turn it off but I can't find it again. The main camera has so much extra sharpening and the HDR is awful. Once the camera switches to the other lenses though it's fine. Another example of higher megapixels not necessarily being a better photo.
I thought I would use the pen more which was the biggest reason for me to get it, but since I hate using the camera the pen stays in the phone. The shutter speed on the phone is also terrible, I very often get blurry photos just using the buttons on the phone but the size and weight make me shake just a bit too much.
I'm sure other people will get more out of this phone than me but I'm a big photographer type user and if my phone gives me any resistance Taking photos it's useless to me. I like the colors on the s22 more than the iPhone though so that's a real shame I hate the camera experience but it's not that hard to shift colors on iPhone or an app.

I have a powder blue iPhone 14 Plus and I do not have darkened photos. Pics and vids look fantastic with the 14 Plus. They gave us another replace on TV. It had the same problem. It turns out that if we would’ve picked a non-Samsung TV the return policy would’ve just given us another one again but because it was the Samsung TV there return policy was only two out of the box and if both of them are broken, we can’t return them the last one even for a refund we just have to keep the broken TV so his entire side of the family will never buy a Samsung product again and after my dad having the Samsung galaxy note 7, that literally blew up and caught fire he was given a Samsung S7, which then melted and caught fire, which was the last straw for him which made him move over to iPhone X in 2017. He’s literally had the same iPhone on the same battery since day one.
