Whenever Jon has to build a vehicle, the product strongly gives the impression that he has never seen said vehicle before :/ although operating under the assumption that is true makes his contraptions much more impressive
as a mechanical engineer, i dont understand how you build stuff so absurd and still make it work but i love it, stormworks and this was just simply hilarious, please play more games with building stuff with physics
As someone with a middling math & engineering background, currently in school to be an aircraft "A&P" (airframe and powerplant) maintenance tech, Jon playing engineer is both scary and hilarious...
Running means you have the wind behind you and are "running" from it. Reach is when the when the wind comes from the saide and is basically named by pointing into the wind. Broad reach is pointing toward the stern, beam is pointing at the side of the boat, and close reach is pointing ahead and to the side. Head to the wind means you're facing the direction of the wind. Close hauled is the most important point of sail for navigation but just means you are turned as close to the wind direction as you can manage with your sail plan
Ever tried from the depths? Its a excellent ship building game based around building warships, carriers, submarines and cargo ships and then you can play in a massive campaign or fight them out in the vehicle creator. its brilliant!
This is a very pretty game. Reminds me a bit of Besiege. The ocean looks a bit flat but overall it looks like it's going in a nice direction so far. It's definitely getting there
Jon downrated a british aquarium because of "lack of octopus" but in terms of appearance they're not different from jellyfish. Jon you are a frakking mystery that I'd rather smash anyone's head into a wall than focus solving.
First off, Jon is the master race also known as being British therefore we use Mph, secondly Rule Britannia britannia rules the waves, it was strong ass wind.
fair enough, 48 mph then. With that wind speed Jon is in a tropical storm with his dinky little boat. Which I suppose he was considering the context of the game. Impressive to be sure.
I'll tell you again, this time especially: play From the Depths, it's amazing! Still hope you someday make a series of it once you find and learn it :D
Jon, there's a new alpha stage game that you mind find interesting: it's called 'Among the Sleep' and it seems like a psychological kinda horror BUT, BUT, BUT, you play as a TODDLER!
"with only the wind and terrifyingly huge jellyfish for company..." Jon, why do you have nothing in the description to say about the SKYFISH?! THE MASSIVE FLYING SKYFISH?!
actually, the last leviathan started copying heavily off of besiege in their parts and building system (not only that, but they still havent optimized it, and they are not making the best decisions funding-wise, they set up a 'dlc' that was $1000 for a tiny statue thing, it was terrible) so i really wouldn't suggest it anymore...
Various reaches and running - are different names for the position of the boat relative to the wind (sail settings). You should adjust your sail accordingly. Eg. on a close reach when you are sailing very close to the wind you want your sail all the way in- and basically the sail should shift further out incrementally as you move further 'away from' the wind i.e. with the wind directly behind you. Hope this helps
NO JON, NO. THIS IS NOT SEA OF THIEVES AND THUS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. ...SoT has kinda hit me hard. I love that game now. Also, inb4 someone doesn't realise I'm making a funny and thinks I'm genuinely being a dick

What you really need is a keel. It will stabilise the boat and allow you to sail more side-on to the wind.
will you ever accept fan mail, and is there a company on the internet that delivers jellyfish? these are important questions.
I'm sending him a plush jellyfish if he ever does.
I suspect this might by why he does not. :)
Mikail Elchanovanich
I wonder how much of a "donation" it would take to get Jon to do a full video of VR jellyfish...?
HELP! the illuminati is trying to recruit our jon!
i've heard about you jellyfish elite. i saw a grainy youtube video by a strange man with an alarming hairstyle and a bad case of dropsy. so there.
as a mechanical engineer, i dont understand how you build stuff so absurd and still make it work but i love it, stormworks and this was just simply hilarious, please play more games with building stuff with physics
Jon says "now, in theory..."; comedy ensues.
Jon you are a sodding legend. I wanted you to play this and you delivered. You delivered it well.
As someone with a middling math & engineering background, currently in school to be an aircraft "A&P" (airframe and powerplant) maintenance tech, Jon playing engineer is both scary and hilarious...
Those jellyfish have a fin so I think they might actually be man o' wars. Which are a siphonophore not a true jellyfish.
True enough. They are a group of organisms that all live in a symbiotic lifecycle.
I was Proud of Jon, and that Pride went away so quickly, and, came back.
Jon is starting to get, decent, at making Vehicles with Video Game Logic.

Running means going downwind with wind behind you, broad reach is at 90o to wind, and then you go upwind, yes Jon they are boat terms, sails ftw
I love how the mast is not attached to the ship. You are awesome Jon!
Ok that is impressive.
But can you paint with all the colours of the wind?
Mike Fluff *Now imagine Jon sailing as gracefully*
Wow, this channel plays such cool and interesting games. I love it! Keep up the great work!
I feel like there's a story about Jon and a jellyfish.
Did a jellyfish touch you Jon? 'Cause if it did, that would hurt.
-Jon positions jet so that it's spraying above the water
-Jon wonders why it's not helping
It's not exactly clear how the jet is _supposed_ to work, even after seeing it fail a couple of times.
White hair, blue clothes, ramshackle boats; is this is secretly a _The Last Airbender_ game where you play as a Water Tribe member?
"Hey, Jon, are you a fan of sailing?"
"Knot really"
LeiFlux07 Eyyyyyyy
Ever tried from the depths? Its a excellent ship building game based around building warships, carriers, submarines and cargo ships and then you can play in a massive campaign or fight them out in the vehicle creator. its brilliant!
Wait, your character has red skin and bright white hair... does that make her a reverse ginger?
That would be an anti-ginger.
As a ginger kill it
This is what we call witchcraft. We burn witchcraft.
No, we can't kill it! If it's an anti-ginger then, ipso facto, does it not have a soul?
suborbitalprocess i steal souls it just gives them out that just fucks with th economy
This is a very pretty game. Reminds me a bit of Besiege. The ocean looks a bit flat but overall it looks like it's going in a nice direction so far. It's definitely getting there
Alternate title, Jon butchers boat design. To the point where I'm not sure if he's doing it intentionally or not.
It has to be on purpose. He's an intelligent man.
Anyone going to mention the flying fish
Today we we learn that Jon is as good at ship construction as Jeremy Clarkson
L L Jon must be pretty bad at Jeremy Clarkson.
Jon downrated a british aquarium because of "lack of octopus" but in terms of appearance they're not different from jellyfish.
Jon you are a frakking mystery that I'd rather smash anyone's head into a wall than focus solving.
This reminds me of Waterworld with Kevin Costner.
Justin Carnes I liked that movie
This is basically "Moana! The game"
Windwaker: the copyright violation
"Return chimes to tower"....immediately reminds me of Stephen King's The Dark Tower book series..
People complaining about Jon's lack of engineering skills... I'd like to know how many egg cartons you know who can make even the most basic boat.
“This is fine I still have most of my boat” -Jon
h for the Handbook Jon. The Handbook tells you what things do and how to use them.
John...how do you never mention the GIANT FLOATING FISH IN THE SKY?
oh this is super-cool.
can you angle the sails without turning the boat? that would help.
OH MY GOD THE UI REFERS TO BROAD REACH AND RUNNING CORRECTLY. TAKE ALL MY MONEY
Jellyfish is Jon's trigger.
somehow i read the title as "make snail run like the wind"...
"You hold shift to walk. Well that's just backwards." Says the guy whose channel is built on his Fallout 4 challenge runs.
Did you mean Fallout Challenge runs? This channel was a thing long before Fallout 4...
I did.
Jon built the exact ship from the movie Water World. XD
No way that boat is going 42 knots, that's like 78 km/h !
Jon never checking the handbook about how the jet works frustrated me.
Could you try out ‘from the depths’?
Jon, there's a new alpha stage game that you mind find interesting: it's called 'Among the Sleep' and it seems like a psychological kinda horror BUT, BUT, BUT, you play as a TODDLER!
Among the sleep? While its a fantastic game, its not in alpha. Not even close. Among the Sleep had its full release four years ago in 2014.
Why is the sail the Hamburg HSV crest? Lol
What's this? A sailing game that I didn't know about? I'll have to give it a look
Does he not know that for a water jet needs to be under the water to work. But after watching the podcast Jon explains cars I doubt it
He should play form the depth
Now throw fish off the boat.
"with only the wind and terrifyingly huge jellyfish for company..." Jon, why do you have nothing in the description to say about the SKYFISH?! THE MASSIVE FLYING SKYFISH?!
How come every boat Jon builds turns into a submarine?
actually, the last leviathan started copying heavily off of besiege in their parts and building system (not only that, but they still havent optimized it, and they are not making the best decisions funding-wise, they set up a 'dlc' that was $1000 for a tiny statue thing, it was terrible) so i really wouldn't suggest it anymore...
you should try 'from the depths'
PaladinDank That game makes my brain hurt
shhhh. itll be glorious
this seems a bit like Terratech but boats. I think I will keep an eye on this title. thanks.
If you are having problems with boat debris maybe you should stop wrecking it every time you want to get off.
ever considered "from the depths"?
Various reaches and running - are different names for the position of the boat relative to the wind (sail settings). You should adjust your sail accordingly. I'm getting oblivion music flashbacks with the soundtrack
Nobody tell Jon about From The Depths
Make Sail? They prolly missed getting Set Sail.
Pyra-boat of floating?
...to be free again
NO JON, NO. THIS IS NOT SEA OF THIEVES AND THUS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.
...SoT has kinda hit me hard. I love that game now.
Also, inb4 someone doesn't realise I'm making a funny and thinks I'm genuinely being a dick
0/10 needs more bridge ballast
Go watch Moana, John! Learn how they made catamarans!
Geeze. @this_game: WindWaker much?
MORE
This game is far too bright, and looks like needs a lot more tweaks to controls to be polished, certainly. But I'll probably keep an eye on it.
Jon will you play sea of thieves with nerd cubed and mattophobia
Better then sea of thieves?
XD
This is KSP for ships.
kerbal ship programme
wow... 18 minutes before Jon got too irritating for me. new record for me!
Eh. I dunno. It looks pretty meh.
John your ship designs are god awful
69th like Hehe
Hi M.A.T.N.! I Exist !
rem bilodeau I also partake in this action known as existing
Jon. This is your chance to make peace with the jellyfish. Pull it together.
