Its not that clinical trials are competitive .they aren't. Every trial has a strict protocol ie design, in which it is calculated in advance how many patients are needed to confidently ascertain whether the findings are genuine outcomes due to treatment or a chance outcome. Each trial has very strict criteria for entry otherwise too many interfering variables make it impossible to interpret data. So therefore recruitment is strictly limited according to the design and patients must meet specific criteria ..there may also be a timeline to follow. Therefore the investigators in the hospitals recruiting patients for the sponsor have no choice but to follow the design they are handed. There are also funding issues. Clinical trials cost millions to run and they are budgeted for a fixed number of patients. With all these factors in mind your chance of being recruited depends on your suitability as well as how early on in the recruitment process you happen to approach it. It really is that complicated. Not a competition.

Heart broken...This sucks. My daughter had a juvenile pilocytic astrocytoma that mutated into something weird after six years that was faster growing. I love your being so positive but I know how scary this is. Everyone here at my studio is sending you and your family all the love, all the good and healing vibes and that you find a treatment to kick this this things booty. My daughter went through three remissions, it wasn't easy it was in her brainstem and cerebellum. My mother had cancer and is now cancer free and my brother has cancer too but keeps his spirit up. He had 11 surgeries last year which wasn't easy at all. They gave him two years to live and he is now in year 4. And things looking better now. I really believe their zest for life kept them alive. Don't get me wrong. They had many dark moments, especially after surgery. But their overall appetite for life kept them going. It is very helpful to surround yourself with people who believe in your healing. I have really struggled with emotions around your diagnosis and I've avoided watching this video since it's upload... I first found your channel when I was struggling with some dark experiences and you were/are one of the lights in my world. Cancer is so unfair and the best people seem to be struck by it when there are so many people who skate by... Having had cancer twice (as a very young parent at 32, and again 14 years later) it has been really hard to process seeing such an amazing, young person have this come into their world. There are so many people who have had their lives bettered for you being here on YT and I can only imagine the positive impact you've had for your students but mostly your own children and wife. I know your diagnosis isn't about me - it's just brought a lot of painful memories for me and my deepest wish is that you get into a trial that is successful for you and you are healed and still here with us for many years to come. Less for us, but definitely and penultimately, for your family who love you so much. So, long comment short, May the universe bring you all the things you need to be healed and well. If part of that means we lose you from RUclips, so long as you are here with your immediate family and loved ones, I'd be okay with that. I wish you all the best. A clinical trial saved my life several years back. I got hurt a coal mine and spent 10 days in a coma. The doctor where telling my family that i had more then a 97% change of not pulling through. The broken back wasn't what was killing me. It was acute respiratory distress symptoms. I was drowning on my own fluids and they couldn't pump it out fast enough. The lung doctor that was trying to save me happened to read about a study from a mid western university that was testing some sort of drug for the exact same condition. Thank god the stars aligned just right and i was perfect for the test and a few hours later i got the drugs. 6 hours after that i was off the ventilator, out of CCU, in a regular room, screaming for something to eat and trying to flirt with some of the nurses! I went from dieing for the past 10 day to dieing to go home in half a day!
Keep at it! I’m right there with you im this journey. I just had to end my clinical trial on Thursday as it wasn’t working. Met with my doctor an hour or so ago and am going onto a different treatment that will hopefully balance things out so we can try and find another clinical trial to work on. My goal was to make it to Christmas. Then once I hit that my wedding anniversary. Now we’re working towards my birthday. Then after than my daughters birthday. And I’ll keep setting goals like that as long as I can. So much to do still!

Hey man, My mother one year ago to this date had a WHO grade 1 diffusion Melanoma, and it was almost entirely removed. We just celebrated the one year anniversary at lunch time. She use to work on some of the Sesame street costumes and briefly got to meet Frank Oz and Jim Henson. She instilled in me a great love for the Muppets and Puppets in general and I have shared your videos with her some. I have been subscriber for several years and trust me man your gonna pull though this. I speak for both my Mom and I when I say we love your content.
Make a puppet version of your tumor and get a good look at it face to face. So you can stare it down and say what you have to say to it, and maybe hear what it has to say for itself, and why it's taking you on this journey. We love you, Adam. Wishing you and your family the best. A few years ago your tumour would be classified as just “secondary glioblastoma”. It was gradually realised that this wasn’t a very good descriptor of IDH-mutant tumours with necrosis and microvascular proliferation - the underlying genetics separated it from wild-type glioblastoma, and in turn this impacted treatment options and responses. This is what makes IDH-mutant tumours more suited for clinical trials. I think the aim would be… to try and induce your tumour into becoming “indolent” rather than removing it entirely. An indolent tumour that just sits there, not doing much, and needs minimal intervention outside of treatments.

I wish you all the best. A clinical trial saved my life several years back. I got hurt a coal mine and spent 10 days in a coma. The doctor where telling my family that i had more then a 97% change of not pulling through. The broken back wasn't what was killing me. It was acute respiratory distress symptoms. I was drowning on my own fluids and they couldn't pump it out fast enough. The lung doctor that was trying to save me happened to read about a study from a mid western university that was testing some sort of drug for the exact same condition. Thank god the stars aligned just right and i was perfect for the test and a few hours later i got the drugs. 6 hours after that i was off the ventilator, out of CCU, in a regular room, screaming for something to eat and trying to flirt with some of the nurses! I went from dieing for the past 10 day to dieing to go home in half a day!

Keep at it! I’m right there with you im this journey. I just had to end my clinical trial on Thursday as it wasn’t working. Met with my doctor an hour or so ago and am going onto a different treatment that will hopefully balance things out so we can try and find another clinical trial to work on. My goal was to make it to Christmas. Then once I hit that my wedding anniversary. Now we’re working towards my birthday. Then after than my daughters birthday. And I’ll keep setting goals like that as long as I can. So much to do still!

My mother one year ago to this date had a WHO grade 1 diffusion Melanoma, and it was almost entirely removed. We just celebrated the one year anniversary at lunch time. She use to work on some of the Sesame street costumes and briefly got to meet Frank Oz and Jim Henson. She instilled in me a great love for the Muppets and Puppets in general and I have shared your videos with her some. I have been subscriber for several years and trust me man your gonna pull though this. I speak for both my Mom and I when I say we love your content.
Make a puppet version of your tumor and get a good look at it face to face. So you can stare it down and say what you have to say to it, and maybe hear what it has to say for itself, and why it's taking you on this journey. We love you, Adam. Levi, my son, and I are in a world of puppets and he thinks you're the best thing ever. I would be fascinated to see what kind of puppet you'd come up with to represent the hitchhiker in your head.

I have been around puppets all my life my father worked on TV show like munch bunch in you in 80's he also was a pioneer in design of mech systems and we had a half scale human robot in my house early 80's also. A few years ago your tumour would be classified as just “secondary glioblastoma”. It was gradually realised that this wasn’t a very good descriptor of IDH-mutant tumours with necrosis and microvascular proliferation - the underlying genetics separated it from wild-type glioblastoma, and in turn this impacted treatment options and responses. This is what makes IDH-mutant tumours more suited for clinical trials.
I think the aim would be… to try and induce your tumour into becoming “indolent” rather than removing it entirely. An indolent tumour that just sits there, not doing much, and needs minimal intervention outside of treatments.
Just now coming across your channel. I need to watch some prior videos. I’m praying for the best for you. I lost my sister to brain cancer. Hopefully the doctors can get you cancer free. I love your positive attitude. To me, attitude is almost everything with faith being first!

For some of them it was through a special diet, some through immunotherapy, so through weird herb cocktails, and some (most importantly) through positivity and true belief that the cancer will be destroyed. I even heard that the Keto diet has helped some people with cancer (there are some studies online).
