I'd been trying to clip it back into place with the bulb plugged in. I didn't know that you put the bulb in place, then clip, THEN plug it in. Thank you! You saved my sanity.
Thanks Robert. someone "helping" took the bulb out and I needed to see how to clip. Spent 20 minutes swearing. Watched your video and then did both in 10 minutes.
Hi! I just wanted to say thank you for making this video! .... I asked multiple guys to help me fix my headlight and none of them could figure it out. Then I asked my father to help me change it, but instead of helping me, he screamed at me for trying to do it myself and claimed I was not intelligent enough to figure out how to do it.... I sent him inside, and finally changed it with the help of your video. Thank you for much more than helping me change my headlight.
Robert, Thank you for taking the time to describe each step in detail since it appears that others with similar how-to videos assume people know that the nuances of the process, for example, the spring metal tab is removed by pushing in to release it from a notch and not by grabbing the tab with pliers and pulling it, which is what I spent the last hour trying to do. Very good camera angles in tight places, a thorough video that explained the entire process without making assumptions of what we should know. You have the common sense to realize that if we already knew the nuances of the process, we wouldn't need to watch RUclips to find out how to replace a light-bulb. Tanxs again EJB
So happy I found your video. You made my day a lot better. I couldn’t figure out how to get that dang wire unlatched until I watched your video. Thank you so much!
Excellent video! The instruction manual in my sonata doesn’t even tell you how to do this. The dealership wanted to charge me $50 to get the bulb replaced and installed. The hell with that. Thank you for making this video sir! It’s pretty easy to do.
As a black woman, I don’t want to get pulled over for any reason... oh yeah and I don’t want to pay a citation or get a ticket either. So, I like to jump on getting these bulbs replaced as quickly as possible. And, I am so grateful to Roger for making this video. I got both bulbs done in minutes. Hooray! I’m so happy to be able to see better. And not have to worry about attracting highway patrol. Thank you so much Roger!
Yo Blood, that was just what I needed in a quick pinch when my daughter was about to get on the road for a 3 hour trip and I noticed her head light was out. Yeah I could have done it, but watching you do it first and seeing that clip mades it easier. Big ups to you.
Excellent Video. had to use metric box wrenches to unclip the battery terminals and the battery anchor clip. This video really helped and it worked like a charm. Thank you Robert DIY.
Went to Advance Auto Parts. They sold me a non-halogen bulb. I went to take my bulb out and found an H7 Halogen just like you show here. I brought back the bulbs and they took them back but the guy said they are "not supposed to take them back". I said your guy was the one who told me to buy this! LOL! To all DIY peeps out there, take your old bulb out and bring it to the store so you are sure to get the right one!!
Robert, thanks a lot for sharing this tutorial.Ijust replace my pasenger side lightbulb on my wifes car and it was very helpul to see how you did it.Keep sharing more videos and take care your self.
Thank you very much for showing installation on both sides. I was working on the passenger side and decided to also take out the coolant overflow. It was just to screws and gave me a better view but your description was right on.
Robert, thanks so much! I'll be doing this today and using your video as a guide. Thanks for the hard work you put into your videos. I know how challenging YT videos are to make.
Thank you for such an easy video. I just changed mine with your help! I was at autozone earlier and they said they had to unscrew all kinds of bolts and the actual headlamp was gonna have to come off. 😆😆😆 I was like no way. Someone had to have made a how to video 👍 lifesaver 🙏
Thanks! the first video I watched the man removed the entire bumper to change the bulb!... Great video, simple. I will be doing this myself instead of going to the garage.
Loved this video thank you. Getting a picture of the retaining clip going off and on was critical for me. Because of the tight fit in there , it's hard to see what you are doing so a diagram or something of how it is holding it in place and what is being unhooked might have made even better what is a super instructional vid. Thank you again!
thanks for all your videos over the year, i would like to thank you for all your hard work and wish you and your family a merry Christmas and a wonderful new year.
Thanks for the video! I was thinking that I’d have to take the bumper off and stuff to change the headlight lol. I’m use to older cars not these new types lol.
Thank you so much for your help. I'm a female that changed her own headlights on my Hyundai Sonata (2013). It beamed right away. I was so happy I decided to change the bulb on the right side. However, the low beam headlight is not working now. I even went back to the store for another bulb. But still not working. I'm wondering if the relay fuse is blown. Could you do a video on troubleshooting after changing bulb, light still not working? And by the way I didn't touch the glass bulb....thanks
i have a 2004 sonata its more cramped then this but has the same locking spring great information i though i was going to have to loosen those screws the spring is attached to glad to see i don't have to thanks!
Took me about 20 minutes to do it because I kept dropping the piece that secures the fasten to the lightbulb. But I’m super proud. Thanks for the video.Unfortunately, the light still isn’t working so I might have to get it looked at 😔.
Thank you, Robert! Extremely helpful - I did it!! 😀 (Also - adding here in case it is of use - I have a 2006 Sonata and it was just like Robert's in the video. Got the bulb for $18.99 at AutoZone).
@@RobertDIY We recently had to have some recalls attended to on my wife's 2013 Sonata. During our visit they checked the connectors to the headlights and taillights. The service advisor told us that the had discovered that the wiring and connectors that were supplied to Hyundai had proven to be insufficient. The wire is too small gauge, and the connectors don't tolerate heat well enough for hotter climates. (Probably ok for Korea) The wire is too small, and heats up. The connectors can melt with that, and hotter temps like the southern US get. They have caused all kinds of electrical problems. You can get replacement pig tails with better qire and connectors to remedy the problem supposedly. I don't feel like we should have to do that for a known problem. She has about 114k miles on hers and has started to shop for the next "Mimi Mobile". So far, i have changed all of the headlights at least 2x this year, all of the taillights at least 1x, and a couple of them 2x. I have never seen a vehicle eat lights like this. There is also a problem with the dome light. We just turned it off because she doesn't drive much at night if she can avoid it, and the fix ia more that we want to pay for on something that we won't be keeping much longer. Other than these issues, the car has been great. Thanks for your help!
I am going to replace a burned out headlight myself thanks to you, however, the highbeam bulbs are also burned out. Can you tell me how to replace those as well? The bulbs are exactly the same as the low beam bulbs but I don't know if they're tucked in there with the regular headlights!

Now if Hyundai could GYST and fix their jankey wiring so it wouldn't kill a bulb several times a year....
Thanks for the helpful video man!
