HOW TO REPLACE THE BROKEN DOOR LATCH ON YOUR S550 MUSTANG! DIY!

Well, the Door latch broke on ole Betty the S550 Mustang GT. Just moved it one day and went to close the door and it wouldn't latch. So now I've gotta tear down this door and replace the latch assembly. It's a bit of a project so let's get after it.

Had to do almost this exact thing on the M a couple months ago lol that door mechanism is a pain. Had to drop my window tho

Can you take the interior door handle off with out taking everything off

The interior door handle comes off with the interior door panel. You'll have to remove it to get the cable off behind it and then remove the handle from the panel itself after. So you'll have to take the interior panel off, but you don't have to remove the exterior handle or mess with any of the internals of the door.

It’s pain in the neck! You’ve got to get those “teeth” that wrap around the clip on the door handle sort of meshing together as you push the handle in. It took me a long time to get it the first time. I had to push those metal “teeth” open at first with a screw driver before putting the handle in because it wouldn’t go in at all at first. I mention it at about 23:00 in.

Dude, that about sums up this job for sure. The door latch is probably the worst design I’ve seen in a long time.
