I am 12 years old, did this all by myself, and they turned out amazing. If you don't think that this awesome recipe isn't easy, then I don't know what is.👌
I made the funnel cake last night minus the strawberry syrup because i was out of fresh berries but still soooo yummy! I must note that I added vanilla extract and cinnamon to the batter.. it truly was amazing... thanks for sharing.
This is great! It's actually one of my mother's favorite favorite desserts! When she moved here to the U.S. in San Francisco from Germany, the SF pier always had about 1 to 2 cars where people would make them. This stopped about 15 to 20 years ago. So now we just see them at Faires or Great America Theme Park and the Santa Cruz Boardwalk...so it's really a treat when we have them!
I've been to several fairs when I lived in the States but for some reason I have no memory of eating these! One more treat listed down in my must-try list.
Ohhh yeass!! Since i first tried it, i wanted a simple recipe, and here it is! Thanks Gemma! Annnnd, there are many things you can do with funnel cakes, the one i tried was cookie and Ferrero Rocher funnel cakes, and it tasted amazing! Have fun ya'll
wow...funnel cakes look just like jalebi(s) (indian street food!) but they are covered in sugar syrup. your funnel cakes look soo yummy! i will definitely try them.
This looks so good!!! Funnel cakes are so expensive at fun fairs and amusement parks....this one looks like a way better deal. So much fresher! Thanks for this :)
Hi Gem-ma! My you look lovely and fit today, it is amazing how trim you keep yourself even while taste testing your delicious recipes, such as this mouthwatering treat! Thank you for sharing all your secrets and tips to becoming a Bold Baker!
+Gemma Stafford I love that! -'everything jn moderation, EVEN moderation'! -words to live by! btw, on my way to buy fresh strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, and every other fresh fruit that I can experiment with on the funnel cake! What do you think about fresh pineapple, and/or rhubarb on top?
I have exam tomorrow and I'm suppose to study right now but when I saw the notification I click on it as fast as I can . Anyway thanks for the video ! Love you
Gemma Stafford Yea I made these earlier today for me and my siblings and it was great! They tasted delicious and were really easy to make. Though I don’t like fruit all that much so I topped mine with salted Carmel ice cream and whip cream. I totally recommend it.
I've never heard of funnel cake but this looks like jilipi or jalebi, an Indian dessert/snack. We soak the jalebis in sugar syrup after frying them. Jalebis are also more crisp than what the funnel cake looks like, but they both look very similar. I'm going to try this recipe. I love jalebis and I feel like I'm going to like this too.
Just made these tonight for my mom and I and man, I have never been disappointed with your recipes:) my mom is vegan and gluten free, so I substituted oat milk and she uses bob mills GF flour, and then “justEgg” ❤️she hasn’t been able to have one in a looong time so this brought us back to Knotts Berry Farm days🥰
Today I tried your pizza monkey bread....I Know it's a very old recipe of yours but it was super amazing...today it was my sister's birthday and I made pizza monkey bread and every body just loved it ...this is all because of you... thank you soooooo much
Hi Gemma, This looks so yummy!!And my stomach is growling.LoL My daughter and her friend used to pester me to make funnel cake. I didn't put strawberries and whip cream on too. Just the powdered sugar. Next time I'll try it your way.LoL
I'd add some of Gemma's homemade vanilla ice cream, to the top, in place of the strawberries. I think that would be a wonderfull addition, to an already great recipe!
Gemma, you are officially my best friend now! I LOVE funnel cake! I have to admit though, I've never had it with strawberries and whipped cream, I've only had it with powdered sugar, because that's how we usually get it served to us here at fairs in the states.
Hey Gemma! Lovely recipe. The base of the cake reminds me of Indian sweet (“Jalebi” made of plain flour then fry then dipped in sugar syrup) But this one seems much easier 😊 will try it. Thank you!
Ive actualy never seen funnel cake with whipped cream. Its always been soft serve icecream! The hot cake makes it all melty and soaks it up and its yummy and creamy, and then when the cake is gone there is usually some icecream left thats still cold and unmelted and so you get a nice cool down at the end on a hot summer day.
Maam i loved this recipe...... n i wanted to make a request that please post a classic old fashioned eggless chocolate cake without butter or condensed milk.....n rather with oil n milk etc I would be really happy if u post this recipe
Gemma even made funnel cake look fancy and elegant. I would be cool if you made a microwave Blondie. And more no machine ice cream recipes! I recently had cardamom ice cream it was delicious!
I loved this recipe of yours as you specified that milk can be used as the egg substitute and its quantity. I am definitely trying this tomorrow. A small request to you is if u can plz tell me whether condensed milk can be used in your brownie-cookies as a substitute for eggs. Lots of love n blessings from India.
Condensed milk will work for cookies! Great idea. My egg substitute will go into specifics about measurements. Thank you so much for being with us! :) www.biggerbolderbaking.com/egg-substitutes-for-baking/
Hello Gemma! I am so very excited about this recipe! I've been feeling nostalgic as of late about lost loved ones and summertime when we would go to the Jersey Shore. Of course, there would be that trip to the boardwalk to have our lunch & to get us out of the ocean for a bit. Watching this video I could actually hear all the sounds of the men in the booths trying to get you to play their games, the distance screams of those on the rides, the little babies crying from their carriages and even my Nanny saying " Stay close !" sighing a bit from the walk. If parents were not around you could have soft served ice cream, cotton candy, a giant pretzel e t c for your lunch LOL. Sorry I digress. Later at dusk, everyone would go. My mom would always love to get funnel cake. It was her favorite and of course her children and her nephews never let the poor woman finish a funnel cake. Your funnel cake Gemma is beautiful! I love that it does not look greasy. I never thought I could try to make a funnel cake! I am getting so Bold 😊. I'm sorry this is such a long post, but I would be remiss if I did not mention that gorgeous strawberry sauce. Thank you, I have been trying for years to make my own strawberry sauce! Bravo Gemma! P.S. Thank You for the pics of the Fair! ❤
I'm sorry to hear of your loss, Kelly. This sounds like a beautiful memory, and so vivid too. It's almost like I'm there with you. Thank you for sharing, and I'm glad you like the recipe and pics. It's good having you, Kelly :)
Gemma Stafford it's so good to be here Gemma. Thank you for your patience with my long post. I am so glad that I was able to share that very wonderful memory that you helped me remember today.💚💚💚
Gemma, love your videos. You make recipes come alive. One question, the funnel cakes at the fair taste like they have a little sugar inthem almost like the taste of a waffle or pancake before I put the syrup on them. Thanks for all you do for us.
Hi Linda! This recipe is a simple fried dough, and has a touch of vanilla in it. The powdered sugar and vanilla are great together. I'm so glad you like the recipe and having you with us :)
Hi bella Gemma, so good and yummy your Funnel Cake. It's for children and for adults. Saranno deliziose con la salsa alle fragole e panna. I must really try these. For two weeks I made your best ever Blondies...so fantastic, mmmhh. See you next week.☺😚😚
Laboni Akter Perché Gemma, anzi il marito , capisce l'italiano. Certe volte sono insicura del mio inglese ed è per questo che scrivo così. Comunque buongiorno. ☺
Thank you Gemma. I have always wanted to make funnel cakes and your recipe seems easy enough to give it a go. 👍😊😄
It's really a simple one, Lida :) You'll have a grand time, I bet too!
I am 12 years old, did this all by myself, and they turned out amazing. If you don't think that this awesome recipe isn't easy, then I don't know what is.👌

We have to go back to the fair, Gem!

Jalebis are also more crisp than what the funnel cake looks like, but they both look very similar. I'm going to try this recipe. I love jalebis and I feel like I'm going to like this too.
I'll have to try a jalebi one day :) They sound great. Thank you for being with us!

Gemma, you are officially my best friend now! I LOVE funnel cake! I have to admit though, I've never had it with strawberries and whipped cream, I've only had it with powdered sugar, because that's how we usually get it served to us here at fairs in the states.
Haha I'm glad you like it! I've seen it a few different ways but powdered sugar is across the board. I hope you give it a go! :)
Big Money's Life you should try it with ice cream on top! It tastes like a crunchy ice cream sundae 😋

It's definitely similar :) Thank you for being with us!
I loved this recipe of yours as you specified that milk can be used as the egg substitute and its quantity. I am definitely trying this tomorrow.
A small request to you is if u can plz tell me whether condensed milk can be used in your brownie-cookies as a substitute for eggs.

Hi bella Gemma,

See you next week.☺😚😚
Two weeks?! That's amazing! I'm so glad you enjoyed them, and this too. Thank you so much. I look forward to talking with soon! :)
Gemma Stafford
Sorry Gemma, ho sbagliato. . Volevo scrivere: two weeks ago I made the Blondies. Scusami tanto.☺
Filomena Cavallaro Perché stai scrivendo in italiano e in inglese
Laboni Akter
Perché Gemma, anzi il marito , capisce l'italiano. Certe volte sono insicura del mio inglese ed è per questo che scrivo così.
Comunque buongiorno. ☺
Its almost like jalebi, a very common dessert in india but I think I have to try this one with strawberry sauce. looks yummy.
You can also use a Pyrex liquid measuring cup to make the funnel cake since the spout makes it easy
