Wow, Mike! That bow shot was perfect. What a beautiful ship! Thank you SO MUCH for a first look at a ship we'll all be excited to see as she becomes part of the Great Lakes ships we love. It's really great to have a boat driver. Great shots of all our lovely Duluth has to offer. Great job my friend!!!❤
What a beautiful comment and I’m so happy that you enjoyed this one. I knew as I was on my way out to the ship. It would be a special video. There’s nothing like catching a brand new ship, especially on its maiden voyage Duluth. How often will this happen? It’s a real special video.
I certainly agree, the Bow shot really got my attention as well!! Having a Boat Friends Boat has taken the channel to the next level! WOW MIKE, between getting up close and personal with a ship, the ship tours and then your personal connection with some of the Captain's ( calling YOU OUT on a Bullhorn) LOL WHO DOES THAT?!? 😂 And now your recognized on a Global level, looks good on you brother, keep up the incredible work!! 🫡🤙😎
@vibewithmike I grew up in Toronto but spent ALL my summers on Lambert Island just outside of Thunder Bay. My grandfather owned Northern Wood Preservers, creating telephone polls and railway ties. And he had an incredible business/friendship with the owner of Canada Steamship Lines, at the time 85 ships strong! My grandfather with very active and also became President of the Thunder Bay Harbour Commission. Your comment about looking up at the Bow like it's a Large Building reminded me of a trip we took threw a set of Locks on a CSL Ship, I was just a kid and EVERYTHING looked and felt GARGANTUAN to me!! Later in life I was visiting the CSL family home and had grown quite a bit, as my shoes now size 15 were sitting at the front door they got a label/sticker reading CSL SHIPPING!!!! LOL I LOVE IT!! 🤣 Best regards, Geoffrey.
Geoffrey, your grandfather sounds like a really cool guy! I love hearing these stories. I know all of the other Boat friends love reading these comments and hearing these little stories like this. I definitely need to get to Toronto someday. I’ve heard so many wonderful things. There’s actually ships coming through there as well. That might be a great spot to do a live stream. 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦👍👍⛴️⛴️⛴️👋👋👋👋

It’s always fun changing it up a little and getting out onto the water to create some contrast with these videos. I always try to make things new and interesting. I have a good one today that I’m going to record for you Johan, I’m going out right now to record the Alpena arriving.
What a nicely produced video Mike. Gorgeous ship. She is the 2nd of 12 planned ships in this design. Certainly a massive looking vessel. Being very light in the water, her freeboard (distance from the waterline to the main deck) only adds to her imposing size! If you start watching at 5:50, pay close attention to the anchor chain. You'll see 6 white chain links ...... with a middle link painted red. Various length sections of the chain are painted differently. They help the crew quickly identify the length of the chain in the water when raising the anchor.
I really enjoyed getting out there to show you this brand new ship. It’s been sitting out there to anchor and I wanted to give you the first look at this ship in Duluth. It really makes me happy knowing that all of you can see this before arrives through the piers.

Don! I hope this message finds you well! It was wonderful meeting you on the pier about a month ago. Thank you so much for your recent comment and for liking my latest video. Your support means a lot to me, and I’m thrilled to know you’re enjoying the content. How are things going upstate? While there might not be a lot of maritime activity there, I hope you’re finding other interesting things to do and see. Please don’t hesitate to ask any questions that you might have and participate any way you want. You don’t have to know anything about ships.

Hey Mike, thanks for the ride out, didn't even get seasick. Really cool perspective and I like seeing those depths. Kinda gives you a 3D perspective, lol.
It was a lot taller than I expected Garrett. As I got close to the ship, I could tell that it was sitting high up out of the water because it still needed to be loaded. That’s why it’s waiting at anchor. They’re waiting for the elevator to get filled up for its load. It’s a beast of a ship, but it’s so cool to see one that has fresh paint like that.
I know all of those crewmembers are excited to be on that ship because it probably has all of the modern phone chargers and everything someone would want. Everything is brand new. It has to be pretty cool on that ship right now.
@@vibewithmike omg your storytelling lol I never even noticed ha! I cannot imagine having that many new toys! I imagine the lakers to be old behemoths, with horns like foghorns and a power of their own. How far technology has come!
I hope we see this beautiful shit back so many times. It was really nice to have that crewmember wave and it is a top ship for me right now. How cool it looks.

What beautiful views of the Duluth area you get Mike from your boat, it looks gorgeous there! The Polsteam Koprowo is a beautiful ship and just built this year, Wow! Thanks for the close-up look at this new ship. I am looking forward to seeing more of her coming and going under that wonderful lift bridge at the beautiful Duluth Harbor! ⚓🚢⚓
Ken, thank you so much for a wonderful comment like usual. There’s something about the ship that really made me happy and I think it’s because it’s on it’s maiden voyage and I’ve never recorded a ship on its maiden voyage before before. It’s the last stop in the voyage. Just thinking went through the Panama Canal. Think of all the cool stuff this crew has seen already.

Hey Mike, and all the Global Boat Friend nation, today from a warm and humid Fargo. What a treat today to see this brand new vessel making its first visit to Duluth. This is an attractive vessel with that color scheme, that is already showing some dock burn from previous ports and the locks. Definetly a salt water vessel as can sit down 37 feet into the water, but cannot go down much over 28’ while in the lakes due to the locks. Do not know what kind of cargo she will take from Duluth, but if grain I would guess she could take about 650,000 bu of wheat to get to a level to get through the locks, then top off in Montreal to get a capacity load. Beautiful camera work and color as usual…. Later man!
That’s exactly right, how deep the vessel can sit. Chuck you’re dead on. There’s gonna be a lot of grain going on this ship. It’s going to be really interesting to see how it looks going out. It’s brand new.
I’m so sorry to hear about your hip pain. I want you to know that you’re incredibly strong and brave for facing this challenge head-on. It doesn t happen very often that you see a ship on its maiden voyage, you see its a new vessel because it has the new bow shape not a bulbous bow and i really love also the color scheme, great video Mike
Absolutel, I did not want to wait to catch it under the bridge. It could come early in the morning where I didn’t get a good video of the color. I’m so glad I went out to show you this vessel. Yes, you are right, it’s the first maiden voyage vessel I’ve ever recorded. I’m very happy it was this one too, awesome hearing from you Mario👍⛴️
Hi there Mario. That bow is designed to push through Great Lakes ice. It's very blunt bow is of a similar design to the 1,000 footers. The increased surface area really helps maximize and use the massive weight to bust through ice.
There’s nothing like being next to a brand new ship with its chain down in the water. What a cool time I had recording this video for you with this brand new ship.

Yert… from Sparta Tennessee… Have a good weekend. I think Duluth has been warmer than Sparta today. We needed a Break. It has been in the triple digits here off and on for the past couple of weeks. We finally did get some good ole fashioned rain on Wednesday and Thursday. Our lawns were very thirsty.
Well, hello my friend from Tennessee! That is one place I need to visit. I’ve wanted to go to Nashville and Memphis. In particular, I want to walk down that main street in Nashville and check out all the music.
Hey, thanks for comment on Friday my friend. It was really cool to capture this maiden voyage. Stop in Duluth. The ship really impressed me how large it was when I pulled up.
Thanks Mike! The scrapes and smudges likely came from some of the incredibly narrow channels of the Welland Canal as exasperated by the limitations of the Soo Locks. The ladder on the side is called “Jacob’s Ladder.” This “Saltie” almost reaches the maximum size limitations of the Welland Canal. It will be interesting to see if she ever returns to the Great Lakes? Sam, Towson, md.
@@vibewithmike We cruised through the new Panama locks on the Caribbean Princess in 2014. Very few Great Lake vessels ever sail through the Panama Canal only some “Salties.” The vast majority of Lakers are not designed or equipped for major oceanic voyages. In fact the ‘Footers can’t leave the Great Lakes at all!! Too long for the Welland Canal and the Chicago Barge channel. And this ship was on her maiden voyage from Poland. No need to go through the Panama Canal on that voyage to Duluth. Sam, Towson, md
@@chuckg6039 Good observation Chuck. that’s why she is only the length that she is. The Welland Canal has a limitation on ships at 760 feet maximum length. After spending almost a week at Lock Seven of the Welland Canal it became obvious that the Canadian shipping line (CSL) built their ships to meet the Welland Canal’s 760 feet limitations. Every CSL ship that we saw was 225.5 m long which conforms to the Canals maximum length restriction of 760 feet.
Hello Mike, this video popped into my new videos list today (Sunday). What a beautiful ship, and it's so exciting to get an up close and personal view of her on her maiden voyage to Duluth! Being a newer ship, as you said, she's not beat up as much as I'd say she has considerable scuffing. She is still a good looking Vessel. Saw some of the crew wave. I know 2 people on a pontoon are not going to pirate such a vessel, but I wonder how they usually take or feel about close traffic... circling them like a shark. Wow at just an hour posted, I'm the 104 th comment and I read or skimmed them all.
It’s really fun watching these big ships. There’s one thing that I do, I have that blue Boat friends flag to make sure that ships know that I’m friendly. Plus they can see exactly what I’m doing. I’m always dressed like a regular person and I have a camera. I always wave on my approach. The camera they know what’s going on. I always approach from the side of the bow so they can see Who I am and my intent. Safety is important and I want to be friendly and showcase their beautiful.
@@vibewithmikeI have sad news for you if you look at 1 long 2 Shorts latest video on the Tim s Dool the description says the John d Leitch is now retired 😔 Signed with sadness, Dylan
Hey, Mike! In Canal Park right now (July 25) and saw her arrive--with no horn to greet the Lift Bridge. Isn't that a little unusual for a bigger ship like this? It was fun to see her headed this way and already know something about her from this video of a few days ago.
I just arrived in Duluth right now. There should be plenty of ships going through tomorrow and through the weekend. Hopefully you brought shorts. It’s going to be warm in Duluth from what I saw on the forecast. Say hi if you see the blue boat and flag going through.
The POLSTEAM KOPROWO is definitively on its maiden voyage. 1. Entry into Service: The POLSTEAM KOPROWO entered service on April 26, 2024, after being delivered and christened at the Chinese Shanhaiguan shipyard. It is the second in a series of twelve lake-type bulk carriers built by the Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company for Polsteam. 2. First Voyage Details: For its maiden voyage, the ship loaded steel in Shanghai, Zhangjiagang (China), and Pohang (Korea), then crossed the Pacific Ocean and the Panama Canal, heading towards the Great Lakes ports of Hamilton and Windsor. And now in Duluth as you can see anchored.

Hey, check this out! This explains the Aerial Lift Bridge operations center. The small house in the middle of the bridge. That’s where the bridge operator controls it. This video brings you right inside. There’s a person in there 24/7 during the shipping season. ruclips.net/video/2tX8HfMTIO8/видео.html (ruclips.net/video/2tX8HfMTIO8/видео.html)
Nice looking ship.

Hey Mike this is Don Allen from New York we spoke on the pier last month. absolutely fantastic footage of this new arrival to Duluth. Keep up the good work.
We had wonderful visit to Duluth I’m so happy I made the trip out there and look forward to coming back some day
It’s always nice to hear from viewers in different parts of the country and learn about their experiences.
I’m excited to let you know that we have some cool ship videos coming up soon, including one featuring the Alpena that I just recorded. I think you’ll really enjoy it! Thank you again for being a part of this community, and I look forward to sharing more with you.
Hi Don. Great hearing from you. Super happy you had a nice time in Duluth!

Great video Mike!!! Thanks for giving us another perspective of it. My viewing of this video was severely delayed thanks to Crowdstrike 😂. Have an amazing weekend!
It seems like everything was delayed yesterday because of the windows update situation. I’m glad I didn’t have to fly.
The personality of the host makes this a great chanel - just excellent!!!

Give me a week heads up if you come to Duluth. I want to make sure I’m up here in Duluth.
She looks bigger than 656ft. Just a massive beautiful ship. I enjoy these videos so much. Thanks!
This is/was so amazing!! Absolutely gorgeous ship and your selling telling! ❤ thanks Mike!
I know all of those crewmembers are excited to be on that ship because it probably has all of the modern phone chargers and everything someone would want. Everything is brand new. It has to be pretty cool on that ship right now.

Beautiful ship! Sorry to not be on much but dealing with significant issues with hip pain. Seeing orthopedic dude Monday.
Great tour!
I’m so sorry to hear about your hip pain. I want you to know that you’re incredibly strong and brave for facing this challenge head-on. Pain can be such a heavy burden to bear, but your resilience and determination are truly inspiring. Please remember that you are not alone in this; there are people around you who care deeply and want to support you through this tough time. Take things one step at a time, and be gentle with yourself as you heal. Your courage in dealing with this pain is a testament to your incredible spirit, and I believe that brighter, pain-free days are ahead for you. Keep holding on, and know that I am here for you, cheering you on every step of the way.

It was fun recording this ship because it’s on its maiden voyage

Nice looking saltie
Hey, thanks for comment on Friday my friend. It was really cool to capture this maiden voyage. Stop in Duluth. The ship really impressed me how large it was when I pulled up.
Thanks Mike -- for the up-close look at a gorgeous vessel and for the inner harbor sites.
It was all my pleasure, Betty! I think you so much for taking time out of your Friday to check out this brand new ship on its maiden voyage
Also, don’t forget that the ship went through the Panama Canal. Take a look at their locks. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panama_Canal_locks
Hi Samuel. I read on the Polsteam website that she was built especially to frequent the Great Lakes.
👍⛴️
Nice day for a change
