    This is a very beautiful, colorful fish😍

    Very good at keeping your platy population in check. Spent almost 3 years with a pair of these only allowing a dozen or so platys to make it. The platy population was 3 males to 9 females.

    The P82 is another very colorful variety of F. gardneri! The males get a very deep blue color when they're sparring.

    My friend got me some fish from your website for my b-day, I received the Gold Lyretail Killifish pair yesterday and they are very healthy, thanks for the Birthday wishes aswell, made me laugh when I saw all the signatures xD The killifish are very healthy and were readily eating in the acclimation bowl, never had a fish do that before and on top of that they started breeding minutes after being in the tank. Its my first time trying to breed killifish and I think its going to go well! The pleco is doing good too, been very active exploring everywhere, concerned me even because Ive never had a pleco so active. Thank you again! :D

    My first kili, too. Easy-peasy to keep. Easy to keep a permanent set up and the fry keep on coming. Highly recommended as a first fish for beginners. Just remember they are Olympic level jumpers.

    These are great fish! I have had many of these for years. They are so tough and eat almost any kind of food. (my video) One time I took all killies out one of my tank. After four months there were again new baby killifish with guppies. 😃

    i love killifish but my faves which i still keep and breed are red striped killifish or amieti's killifish and my new faves are aphyosemion sjoestedti (blue gularis) i think, but they are bigger and lovely colours and very confident but lost a few jumpers better off with a lid with killis😂

    Hands down one of my favorite fish. I currently have 4 colonies of them 😁 They are beautiful, personable, hearty and easy to care for. Oh! And no heater required for mine where I live in northern CA.

      @@kellycasperhanson4426 Hi! I call them my "set em and forget em" fish. They like a nicely planted tank with lots of places for them to chill alone if wanted. A lid is a must no matter what anyone says! I lost 4 in one night that were in a 10 gal dropped to 5 and was also fully covered in floating plants. I forgot to put the lid on 🥺

    • @kellycasperhanson4426

      @audrameyer9558
      They must be champion jumpers because everyone who's had them says the same thing!
      Now, I need to find a seller. I live in Portland, Oregon, and we have an awesome fish store called The Wet Spot. Hopefully, they'll have them soon🤞.
      The ease of care of killis is soooo appealing! I've bred bristlenose plecos for 2 years, which means I've had to change 50-75% of their water every day, that entire time! The veggies they eat really foul the water. I'm ready for something new! And easy!!!
      Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

  • @laurabustos6560

    Jumping out of 2" of water in a 10g tank is nuts! Aren't 10g like at least 12" tall?!? So with only 2" of water for a "run up" they can gain at least 10+ inches of height!! 🤯

    What are the ideal water parameters for this killifish?

    • @nickbailey5201
      @nickbailey5201 9 месяцев назад +1

      prefer slightly acidic water from my experience but are adaptable short lived tho generally 1/2 years very easy to breed one tank all fish got wiped out few months later noticed sum slightly grown babies

    • @cathyhendrix7552
      @cathyhendrix7552 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@nickbailey5201 Oh my. Were they wiped out due to a disease? Or some type of bacterial infection? And how did the fry do? Did they live and were they in the same tank? I'm so sorry for your loss.

    • @DansFish
      @DansFish  9 месяцев назад

      There are hundreds of species of killifish from many different water parameters all over the world. With Fp. gardneri, I think steady parameters are more important than anything else. I've kept AND bred them in everything from soft acidic water to VERY hard alkaline water without any issues.

      @@cathyhendrix7552 the only thing i can think is some live food i bought as 3 died the day after feeding and seemed to be swimming irratically yh the fry survived fine i just realised they were in there once they got big enough to see as i had not emptied the tank and i only kept gardneri in there untill they all died that is i dont think it was disease as the tank only had the gardneri in maybe parasites from the food im not too sure
