I've been looking for killifish for a long time in stores and then someone told me to check ebay....result!!! I got them the very next day. This is the start of the collection. I keep killies they are awesome, and whats even better is that they do NOT only live one year! The annual killifish do, the ones u and I have can live up to 5!
I have gardneri killies and have bred them, you can leave the eggs in water and they will hatch faster than if you take them and put them on peat moss

you are right about that, this type can live for a few years. I have Gardneri and the biggest is at least 5cm long. and that's a good few years of growth
I started with killis by getting eggs. Now I'm hooked.
I added a pair of Gardener Killi to my community tank a few months ago. In the fist month I did not see them. When I did start seeing them again they had nearly doubled in size! Great Fish :D
I had golden Killis and they killed all of my shrimp and ember tetras :(
Love these fish too. The opening with Jake and Dad filled me me with smiles and love. :-)

your killifish will live around 3 years, only annual species live - shortest - 3 months and longest around 1.5 years. close every little hole with sponges, they are great jumpers. I'm breeding killifish since 25 years now, if you need any help then msg me

@@tinyt6330 yes, depending on the species (there exists hundreds of killifish species), but most of them live in slow running streams or little tiny ponds.

I havent kept tanks in a while, but watching your vids is sparking my interest in it again. I've been harassing you for Timmy content, well I couldn't wait any longer, so I bought a musk turtle of my own, I'm working on setting up a riparium/paludarium style tank in a 75 gallon for the turtle.
Lyre is pronounced to rhyme with fire. It a sort of harp I think from Ireland and also Greece.

The australe killifish are awesome, there are 2 other colour forms I think, chocolate being one of them. They do live longer than 1 year as they are not annual killi's. Clown killifish looks cool too, like little rockets lol. Nice set up BTW 👍
Aphyosemion australe live around 3 years, there are several populations, breeding forms are chocolate, orange, orange spotless

I've been breeding steel blue killifish for the past 3 months and they are unreal, close to my discus in how beautiful they are.
I have two in my 5 gallon ( no lid rn, mine just don’t jump) and they are so fun to feed. They are the best fish in my op.
Aaaah the fragile tape on the box is upside down. The "this way up" sticker on top makes it perfect.... It think I have a slight case of ocd.. But very nice fish👍🐠

Clown kills are really easy to breed, get them lined up next. You can't go wrong

I had one single killifish in a community tank when I was like 18-19, and that fish and a single guppy outlived everyone! I had those 2 for years upon years and I couldn’t believe how big they both got from living that long. It was insane! Everyone always asked me if they were a rare giant strain or something, I was like nope they just shouldn’t be alive still at this point lol.

My opinion and own experience, these are by far the easiest egg laying fish to breed, pretty hardy and, beautiful, what's not to love? Also get the Fundulopanchax gardneri nigerianus, it's an order, im not asking.

You say that the little tanks aren't scaped yet, but I think that they look GREAT!
Just a thought, but could you keep these tanks as they are and use them as feature tanks for specific fish, before moving them onto bigger more planted/scaped tanks? Then you would be focusing more on the actual fish - their personalities, like/dislikes and breeding, rather than having a big setup and more permanent display.
Maybe you could work with local fish shops to take featured fish and then return them for others after a month??

Omg I'm so glad that you got some killifish! I've been wanting to get some of them as well lately! Would love to see you make something for a Blur Gularis Killifish, they are absolutely brilliant and one of the largest killifish species growing up to 6 inches!

Have you looked at annual killifish? You can get all sorts of eggs on eBay I've had some very intresting species some I manage to breed some I don't but very cool experience.
MD I can't believe you got the killi fish I'm over the moon I've always wanted to breed and stock killis they are so amazingly coloured buzzing for ya bud Xx
Just get a green mop head or make them out of dark wool and they should breed straight away, just pop a little drill hole in the lid and use a piece of the mop or wool to tie a not in so it stays hanging and remove the eggs daily then place in a dry box with some peat soil till your ready to hatch them but its a good idea to produce your own Brine ship before hatching the eggs Xx

Not all killifish are annuals. Most actually aren't. :) you've got some beautiful ones.

My dude!!! You'll love the clown killifish. They are my favorite fish next to guppies & Black ghost knifes. It looked like you were feeding dry flake food. Killifish like meat. If you can get ahold of frozen daphnia that'll do, but you get the best coloration out of live food. When I had live daphnia all of the fish's colors were just remarkable. Just don't feed blood worms to the clown killifish, the worms are too big, but they will eat them anyway. I killed two that way.

You need to keep some peacock gudgeons. They are absolutely amazing with their colors and stay relatively small. I love all these killis.
I just purchased a lot of hardscape from aquarium gardens I would recommend the spiderwood branches they are of very good quality
