Love the tanks and the studios. It's coming along quite well. I'm curious to see the difference between using root tabs and not. Maybe one video you can do a comparison? Like set up two tank, relatively similar -same stock/plant load, and then run one with the normal root tabs + liquid fert and one without the tabs and compare the plant growth. I'm just starting out myself and came across your videos and you inspired me to scape more, well, slow going bc budgeting. 😅But we all have to start somewhere! Anywho, I think you have enough tanks to run some experiments if you would like. I think the viewers would def be interested -even experiments with low lights vs high light with same fert would be interesting.

Of COURSE all those little tanks need scapes, because you need stuff to do and we need stuff to watch! I prefer more minimalist approach, but enjoy watching and really appreciate you putting the scientific names of the plants AND FISH in the videos. Who cares if it is hard to catch the fish? Just a good excuse to "rescape" and propagate plants😊 I'm sure the little fishies love their new home - and the angels in the neighbor tank have a great new view.

I bought $92 USD in plants yesterday for my 29 gallon breeder tank. LOL! It's hardly enough. Unfortunately my local pet box store doesn't really do plants, only 4 came from the plant tank, the rest in plastic cylinders. I have found a website that does package deals, background mid, front plants and floaters mix. Plus the beautiful plants I want to try that aren't just swords. Very excited yet nervous I'll muck it up.

Dead right about killies needing a lid. They are terrible for jumping. Remember a shop that specialised in planted tanks in Wrexham, having a scraped tank containing Clown Killies. Problem was it didn’t contain Clown Killies, there was always more dried up dead fish on the carpet around the display, than in the actual tank.

@@MDFishTanks Sorry MD i didn't see this. I bought some microsurum from a shop that was already attached to wood and some floating plants. i tested the water with the NTlab kit Matt uses plus the six in one strips PH is nearly 8 and KH 13 if I did the tests right. female krib became very aggressive with her mate. Then male got colour back yesterday for about an hour. all calmed down now except I woke up this morning and one of my glass bloodfins while still alive has no Caudal fin anymore. I really just wanted you to remind me why having plants means no need to water change in your oppinion? and Os it me but if you hold your test up against the result diagrams do you and Matt thing the colour on the result slips shines through the water and makes reading the results difficult? Many thanks both of you.

Quick question though,, i set up my tank approx 2 weeks ago and it still looks basically the same way it was on day one. But that one with the rounded rocks you showed and said its only 2 weeks old man, how do i get that growth? .
i have co2, chihiros wrgb slim2, liquid fertz and put some API root tabs but still no growth. All plants used where already in submerged form so no meltback or anything of that sort expected but still plants are not growing. I have dwarf hairgrass, hc cuba, liliopsis braziliosis, sagitaria subulata in the foreground but not growing or covering up anything. in background i have some ladwigia reds, rotala rotundifolia, bacopa monreli, arenthera reckini red.
please shed some light on me, it would be greatly appreciated beyond the reach of our humanly world.

Is that a cheeky Paradise Gourami I see in with the Harlequin Rasporas? I recently got into Tropicals with some Zebra Danio and a Paradise fish. The latter is a beast on worms. Actually the Danio are pretty vicious as well.
