For many years, talking about Andrew’s vile behaviour was considered rude and inappropriate. Emily Maitlis gave those of us who had been yelling about that man for years a real gift by getting him on the record in public.
Which goes to show how powerful people tend to surround themselves with yes man rather than truthful people, there’s no way that interview could have sounded right to anyone other than Andrew himself, maybe not even him if he had a tiny bit of common sense.
Not his PR team, apparently his team's advice was not to have an interview at all, the ye olde "never complain, never explain". He on the other hand did think that he did quite well.

Maitlis employed the perfect strategy during the interview -- letting him talk. She knew going into interview that he was an overconfident idiot - simply from the fact that he had agreed to do it.
It hasn’t mattered though has it? Nothing has changed. He is still around, slowly being slotted back in to our lives. His family haven’t disowned him or gone on the record with an opinion. Nothing has changed. The interview meant nothing in the end. If you are rich you can get away with anything, just ask Huw.

Charlie knows the damage Andrew represents, so he will be conveniently shuffled to the side and quietly forgotten. For a man like Andrew with such an ego, that's a nice petard to see him on. There was a fine line to balance, she had to keep him talking and not make him clam up and stop the interview. I think she walked that line well, set the right traps for him to fall into. If she'd pushed to hard to force an outright admission, he would have just shut down right there as that would be less damaging that said admission.
