    Thank you Troy. Your videos are so helpful. Having short term memory problems due to MS, the videos are always there for me to see/listen to over and over again instead of bothering the groups! Bless you

    Hi Troy,
    You are a great inspiration to so many people, me included. I tried Inkscape when I first got my Cricut earlier this year. My daughter passed away last year and I wanted to do her photo in Inkscape so I could cut it in vinyl. I tried and tried to do it but eventually gave up. Now I realize I was trying to do it without first learning how Inkscape worked....I was one of those people you spoke about on your video that tried to do something without first learning how to do it. After watching this video i'm inspired to give it another go AFTER giving myself time to learn Inkscape. Thank you once again for your video.

    Thank you so much for taking the time and consideration to make your no-nonsense videos with pertinent information. I got a Cricut Maker last week, and am like, “Wha…?!” I uploaded a self-made mask pattern and it had bumpy lines. That’s what led me to Inkscape. I’m retired, but am not totally behind the times when it comes to tech. Your to-the-point explanations are perfect for me.

    Hi Troy, You do inspire me and other people with all your video's and help you give us here on you tube and facebook! Thank you so much for all the time you give us from your personal life! I still haven't tried Inkscape yet after all this time but mainly because I'm always busy making cards for everyone. I save all the video's so when I am ready I can go back to them to learn it! Your encouragement is awesome! Thanks again!

    Hopefully RUclips notifies of this new comment on your video. You came highly recommended by Lisa Capen from Lisa Capen Quilts' Channel for me to watch your videos to help me learn Inkscape. So far (I've watched a couple of your videos now) you seem to be making the learning process, of this most valuable software, easier and less intimidating to learn (and hopefully master someday soon). Thank you and I have subscribed and will be continuing to watch and learn from you. Thank you.

    Hi Troy,
    Thank you for all your great videos. I am retired and you and your videos do encourage me to learn!! For me....learning keeps my brain active while acquiring a new skill. But I have to say....I am finding InkScape overwhelming and challenging....but I am persistent!! Thank you again for inspiring and encouraging me while teaching the fine art of InkScape.

    This time I downloaded Inkscape again which I had given up on and followed what you did in this video and
    it worked - I was so pleased! I dont try to do something unless I can do it well and didnt really have the time
    to take a whole course ... but also hoped to start at the top! Many thanks!

    Thank very much for this wonderful video. This is the first video I have watched. I am looking forward to the next. I'm a newbie to this. I don't have a fancy computer or the nifty high tech knowledge. I'm hopeful that with time I will learn many new things from you. I absolutely love crafting. I do it for myself, family, friends, and for donating. Sharing your knowledge is an amazing gift. I deeply appreciate it. Thank you for opening a new door for me. 🥂Here's to helping this old gal out with a rock for a brain.

    +TroyTube, did you know that in Inkscape, you can zoom in and out by holding the control key and using the roller on your mouse? I find it much easier when I'm working than searching for the + or - key's.

    • @cre8tveldy
      @cre8tveldy 8 лет назад

      Key

    • @TroyTube
      @TroyTube  8 лет назад +1

      Yes, that works in just about any program. The +/- keys without anything else is specific to Inkscape for the most part and is very controlled. A lot of people have issues controlling the mouse zoom, but use whatever works the best for you.

    Hi Troy, I have been watching all of your Inkscape tutorials and really appreciate all the info. I have encountered a problem that I haven't found a solution to and hoping you can help. I have not been able to drag and drop an image from Google search to Inkscape. When I click on an image and try to drag, I get a circle with a line through it and cursor snaps back to google. Any solution you may have will be appreciated. Thank you.

    Troy, I came across your videos on Inkscape today. I hope you still monitor your site. I understand paths, and union. I typed an entire page of text only in Inkscape. I did union the text. Then found out you can’t union text and be able to modify the text once in design space. Can’t you have a page of text and bring it into design space and change your mind about font or placements, and edit it there???

    ok I used Inkscape and created my picture. I got to Design Space, click upload , click upload image, it goes to a "drag and drop or browse" page I click browse, select my image (that is done and saved as .plainsvg) DS pauses a moment then goes back to the browse page. no note or info.

    Hi, Troy,
    I'm so glad I've found you. I teach Brother ScanNCut classes at a Brother dealer and my students are clamoring to learn Inkscape. I'm still trying to get everyone educated on the cutting machine without going into the software I use to create the designs which happens to be Inkscape. I will definitely refer those who are ready to learn to your videos.
    Quick question---What happens if I've been saving my svg files as an Inkscape svg rather than plain svg, as you advise, and I've sold them to folks who will use them for other cutting machines? Is that going to present a problem when they try to convert them through their cutter's software into the proprietary file types?
    Thanks,
    Kathy

    • @TroyTube
      @TroyTube  9 лет назад

      +Kathy Guevara The "Inkscape SVG" and "Optimized SVG" options save some additional information with the file. Most software will just ignore this information when you import the file, but I like to minimize the risk of issues by saving as Plain SVG files.
