    Awesome video
This is what I'm trying to do with my 86 cutlass cierra, having a funny thing with the motor to where it doesn't allow full extension of the wiper blades.. basically the bolt that moves the crank arms is keyed, but it's not making a full rotation. So it'll just send the blades up a few inches. Got a new motor and that bolt is doing the same thing. Trying to figure out if the wiring harness is telling the motor it can make a full rotation.. but hot wired it won't. I'd like to bypass factory and just put in my own switch like you did, just totally unclear on why it won't make a full rotation. Any ideas ?

If you’ve already hot wired the wiper motor and checked all possible connections on it, I would think it would be something to do with the wiper linkage instead. Have you hot wired the motor without being installed, and check to see that the shaft makes a complete rotation?

@@inlandspeed6670 yes, that's exactly what I've done. With the old motor and a new one. Both are having a very strange problem of making like a 1/10th rotation, clicking, and starting again in the same spot. Initially thought the old motor had a broken pin or something inside, it's bizarre to have it happening on the new one too.
I tried this just loose and also installed. Checked wired connections to the motor. Took off the little dome/cover , can't see anything obviously wrong.

This is the same exact thing that's happening with mine. Just clicking and stuff. Ive installed 2 other motors and all the same things keeps happening..ive watched numerous videos and havnt found nothing similar then came across your comment. Did u ever figure out the reason why?

Any idea how much resistance in the ballast resistor?

    • @TheBikeMechanic

it's usually printed on it, probably a 10k ohms though.

    What's the ballast resistor for?

use Rain-X brother it goes a long way I've got a s10 that has a broken signal switch which controls my windshield wipers to I've been wanting to hook it to a toggle switch as well

That’s such a good point I didn’t even think about that, thanks! I’ll keep that in mind for the next time I have this issue lol

Do you really want to drive this in the rain or even leave it out in the rain? Cars back then were notorious for water leaking onto the floorboards & trunk floor, rusting them out. People never checked under the carpet or trunk mat - until it was too late! Not to mention car exterior bodies rusted out fast.
