    This was by far the best demonstration video for this model 201 B&D Trimmer/Edger. I am a 68 year old woman and I had no trouble following you. I especially appreciate that you demonstrated how to convert it to an edger - so easy! I had expected it to be much more complicated than that. You were SO much more helpful than the Black & Decker support site was - thank you!

    True, a lightweight grass trimmer but, with a noticeable problem. It can be very hard on one's back unless your height is 5' 10" or less. If Black & Decker were to manufacture a model for taller individuals, it would be a tremendous plus.

      Not as strong as a gas powered but it will do the job without straining you to much. Probably will work better when everything dries out. The more you use it the easier it is to keep up on the trimming.

    Just purchased this model.I like the light weight and adjustability of the length and handle rotation.I also like the fast 9000 rpm.I am not impressed with the automatic advance especially while @t doesn't seem to advance at all and I have to take out the spool and advance it manually which is a pain.

    • @DiyRick66
      @DiyRick66  4 года назад

      When it seems like the line gets shorter lightly bump the hed of the trimmer on the ground while pushing the button. It will advance & snip off excess on the mounted blade.

    What part has worn out once the head gets a Lil play in it and starts a grinding sound and no its not dirt. Anyone with some know how about this model please give your feed back they don't cost much but buying a new one at the moment is out of the question for me.

    I have a bad back and it is difficult to bend over slightly to trim. I have found that Black and Decker does not produce a cordless trimmer that extends enough for me to remain standing straight. They all seem to be made for people of small length. I am only 6 ft and find this trimmer to be too short. How the hell do you do it if you're 6" 2'. Does it not hurt your back? Plus, the battery is not really good for anything beyond light trimming. They do make a 2.0 AH battery that may be better. I believe it fits this model trimmer.

    • @DiyRick66

      I don't seem to have a problem with it due to it's light weight I guess. I used to have a heavy 2 cycle that destroyed me so this is night & day ;-) I have since purchased a extra battery in case I run out during trimming. Thanks, Rick

    On my old Black & Decker weed trimmer the vent was above the guard so grass could not get into it. I noticed that this one has a vent below the guard and above the trimmer. Any trouble with grass getting in there? Good review btw.

    I have rhe same trimmer but my hand fatiques with holding the trigger is there a cordless trimmer that doesn't require contiounsly holding trigger

    • @BadfingerFan
      @BadfingerFan 5 лет назад +4

      Regarding the Black & Decker string trimmer: You are right that holding the trigger can be stressful on the hands. Also, since the trigger is usually located up high on the handle, it necessitates a less ergonomic hand, wrist and arm position. So with that in mind, I have found a way to by-pass the switch, so the trimmer turns on as soon as the battery is inserted.
      Naturally, having the trimmer always on compromises safety. Nevertheless, the trimmer can be turned off by removing the battery. My method is to use a strong hardware clamp, they sell for around $3 or $4 dollars at home improvement centeres. I basically clamp the electric trigger, so it is always on. I've done it for years and even store the trimmer with the switch on, and the battery removed. I have no children in my household, so no problem there.
      With the unit always on, I can now use my B&D trimmer one-handed. My hand and arm can now be in an ergonomic position--Amazing. You have to try it to believe it! However, for legal reasons I do not recommend this method to anyone, as it is technically unsafe.
