      I personally went sealed high performance subs for the sake of being able to move them alone and for reselling purposes. No more 200 plus pound subs for me.i run 4 svs sb 4000 right now and it's not the loudest I've ever had but its def the most even bass from seat to seat I've ever had and it's still plenty loud and hits plenty low and hard and none of them have to work hard.i got all my sb4000 before prices went way up and in the closeout section. I paid 999 for one and under 1200 each for the others. Big bang for your buck.

      @@SpecOfTech I think you are in Calgary too. I ordered mine the end of last December and received them at the end of May. To Canada there is no duty just GST. Finally got them moved up in October when my son had friends over. They measured in my room pretty much flat 5hz to 130hz using REW. I also use a mini dsp hd to time align and EQ. Had a bit of a dip in my room around 60hz but was able to mostly EQ it out. My biggest problem is I only have one 15 amp Circuit for the room. When I did a test with edge of tomorrow and turning my receiver up to reference it cause the breaker to trip. Before it tripped I have a Vase on the back shelf and it was moving across the shelf. You mentioned 3-4 subs and price was a pretty big factor in your decisions so to me it’s a no brainer. You ordered 4 RS1
    Which is also the easiest to add/upgrade or resell. And every few months you get to tinkering. So reselling also plays a part.

    • @SpecOfTech
      @SpecOfTech  2 года назад +1

      That's a pretty good guess, and that was a consideration at one point. But given the price of 4 RS1 vs 3 RS2, it's pretty close and 3 RS2 gives me 6 18" drivers. The price was important but extreme output was number 2 on my list of factors I would say, and 6 18's in 3 RS2's would have quite the advantage over the 4 18's in 4 RS1's, for only a little more money. I say a little more money comparative to the overall price of them.

    You should build your own Bass system 🔊 have you tried Pierce Audio. They make 12k RMS Bass subs in 21",24", and 33". Nothing comes close to the power or amazing sound these things put out. They are handmade in the U.S. too. Seriously these are the best of the best, you have to build a box for it and set up an Amplifier/power unit. But if you want the best that's what it takes. These are a 3rd of the price you spent for your 24" for 6x the power and great sound quality. Taramps makes great amps if you can incorporate them in your system to power these. Yes that is a car audio amp, but can easily be setup to power a system for a home theater. Building a system will give you 6x the power for about a 3rd of the price. It would give you great content no one has put out before so it could pay for the system in ad views. 12k RMS home theater subs, yes please. Or if size and weight is an issue they make conservative NEO 8k RMS subs as small cone area as 12"

      Shipping was pretty price, I am not sure how much it would be for a single RS1, I would guess around $150 maybe. The RS1 can ship regular courier, my subwoofers had to ship with freight, which as you know is much more $$. Than you just have to pay brokerage and taxes depending on your province. Contact JTR for a quote, but I don't think it will be too bad for an RS1. The 2400 might have to ship freight, so it would most likely be more.

      Line array? Subs are Omni directional. You mean you’re just stacking 3 on each side and taking advantage of coupling? There’s a few different sub arrays you can do but line array isn’t really one of them. By doing a stereo setup youre also creating an alley of cancellation down the middle of your room. You’re better off lining the front with them spaced evenly apart.

      @Cole it is just a stack. It's a stack of subs that they are taking advantage of coupling. That's why they're calling it REL Line Arrays. Subs are omni directional. There taking advantage of the bump in output due to coupling the boxes together. You can do this vertically or horizontally. They're choosing to do this vertical and calling it a line array. Why not go with DeepSeaSound 24" Mariana? Price is reasonable compared to what you are discussing. How will dual 18s compare in cone area to a single 24. Area= PI(Radius squared). By my calculation one 24" still has more area than dual 18" so you are giving up a bit. The rationale of using more power for dual 18 vs one 24 will mean both 18s have to work much harder. This will lead to more distortion vs a 24" that is barely sweating. I am assuming you are going with JTR RS2 which are awesome but again - THEORETICALLY - one would think 24"s would be preferred based on performance. If it comes down to size and convenience, well then I can see you getting close with dual 18's

    • @SpecOfTech
      @SpecOfTech  Год назад

      You are close with your calculations, but I think you may have mixed up which has more cone area. Dual 18’s would have almost 509 and the single 24 has about 452.38. So the dual 18’s have more cone area. I did actually reach out to Deep Sea about the 24”, but to get them into Canada was A LOT more expensive than I thought, it just wasn’t worth it. Great guess, I did end up going with 3 JTR RS2’s, but I have sense sold them. I will now be going with 3 JTR CAP2400’s. To be honest the 3 JTR 2400’s are far more than my room needs already. They are also smaller and easier to move around for comparison/demos for the channel.

Id love to have another cab exactly like it.

      No I wouldn't say its a drop in SQL at all, not after experiencing them both personally anyway. Power wise the C24 and RS2 are basically identical, not a big enough difference to be audible anyway. The JTR RS2 is basically twice as powerful as the Funk 24.0E. By cheaper boxes, you are only right on outer appearance. The Harbottle C24, Funk 24E and JTR RS2 are all Baltic Birch enclosures. The Funk and Harbottle just have nicer finishes.

    Wow! I thought I like you bro. Obviously another catfish! So you went from the ported to the sealed. Did you lose performance? Because you have plenty of power with both subs. I can’t imagine that you ran outta power with the sealed sub. So did you actually lose performance or did you just have to turn the sealed sub up more? Did the 2 subs sound different because sealed subs are supposed to dig lower. So I would think in frequency response you would lose performance using the ported sub. It would just be louder. But at this level volume shouldnt be an issue since your not maxing out your levels I have a hard time believing you even go past half with the volume knob as that would be 1000-2000wrms your listening to and your not in a big room

    • @SpecOfTech
      @SpecOfTech  2 года назад +2

      The ported subwoofer I had was tuned to about 11hz, and gave me a flat response similar to that of the sealed counterpart. The ported sub, being more efficient, has more output in the low end than the sealed subwoofers because it is tuned so low. The higher frequencies were very similar in output, but the ported subwoofer definitely outperforms the sealed subwoofer in the low frequencies, without question. You are right to a certain extent, a sealed subwoofer typically will dig deeper vs a ported subwoofer that isn't tuned for ultra low frequencies. I hope that explains it. I should have been a little more specific and clarified I was speaking about the subwoofers I was showcasing in the video.

If that is the case, 3 RS1's would more than shake your walls, we both know that. Then considering you are never satisfied with "more than enough" but are more of a "way more than I ever need" kind if guy then it has to be the RS2's, even though they are twice the weight and much harder to move around for demo's. I just don't your brain will let you go from 24" subs at 4000+ watts to 18" subs at 2000 watts, even if you really won't notice a difference under 110 db.
    The best compromise is 2 RS1's in the front and an RS2 in the back. Yes, different sizes which was not part of your goal but gives you easy relocation up front and still gives you the pride of a 4000 watt sub.

      There was quite a bit of talk about performance in the video too lol. The I kept mentioning 3 or 4 HIGH PERFORMANCE subwoofers ;). I even say I want that for extreme bass performance haha.
      The SUB 2 is a great subwoofer and if you love it, all the power to you. I think you will find that the SUB2 performance is lagging quite far behind the JTR RS2 especially in the low end below 20hz, and the RS2 is significantly less expensive. I would love to experience a SUB2 one day, but I have done the comparisons, and the RS2 are the subwoofers for me...cheers!

    • @SpecOfTech
      @SpecOfTech  2 года назад +2

      @@petersharps3923 I am not sure where you are getting your information Peter. The SUB2 does not have 112DB output at 10hz. Data-bass.com did do third party CEA2010 measurements of both the Sub2 and the JTR S2. The JTR S2 is the older version of the RS2, the RS2 has slightly more output than the S2. But for this comparison we will just use the S2 for simplicity sake. The CEA2010 numbers only measure down to 10hz, but the S2 has 3db more output at 10hz and upwards of 10db more output at some other frequencies than the SUB2. The only thing that is certain is that the S2 has more clean output at every frequency.
      When it comes to cone area, which is important for output as well, the 6 10" drivers have a cone area of 471 and dual 18" drivers have a cone area of 508. So again the RS2 has more cone area for output.
      Again, I am not sure where you are getting your information, but the RS2 does go down to 7hz, I have measured it in my room and shown that it does with REW measurements in my video about the RS2's. Regarding your comment that the 6 10" drivers will be faster etc, that is an age old myth that just isn't true. In fact the 18" will be cleaner, because it doesn't need to use as much of its excursion to hit the same SPL's because of the cone area issue I covered already. So the 10" drivers will work harder to hit the same spl as the dual 18" drivers, that won't even break a sweat. Which will make the 18" clean and tight, these RS2 subwoofers are excellent for music as well as movies.
      I do love your passion for subwoofers and your enthusiasm for the SUB2, but your information is unfortunately incorrect. I would love to check out the SUB2 one day, because it is still a phenomenal subwoofer. That being said, given its output it is grossly overpriced vs the competition that has better output. Assuming that output is your metric, considering your comments I would have to say that output is priority 1 for you.
