You know you are right but i have to say that this the first slipknot album with a more commercial sound and for die hard fans this was like the selling out album
@@Arvin_Shishegari as a die hard Slipknot fan - I disagree. It was different. Yeah, probably more accessible sound, but still - very angry, very dark, very groovy. 'All hope is gone' on the other hand, yeah, total sell out.
So the last Beato video, he's talking about how he's a Jazz guy and Emin Sus 9 cords. ...and here we have b2 deathmeatal slide to the tonic, and a clown slamming a beer keg with a metal baseball bat😂. God bless this man!
@@MichaelBlocksom he has produced some numetal bands in the past. Have you gone through all of the "What makes this song great" vids? They are very cool

That’s my favorite Slipknot album; the tones and textures, as well as a progression into more intricate songwriting. They weren’t afraid to use acoustic guitars and electric keyboards. Absolutely fantastic.
No, I think Rick has already said that he refuses to interview metal people cuz he doesn't want people to think that it's just a metal channel. P.s. I'm just making all this up but it sounds like it's true, am I right? 😂
As another “farts dust, old guy, loves guitar😂”, I think it’s all just expression. If you’re still carrying angst, it’s just another color of sound, another attitude, a different color crayon. I grew up with 70’s Rock, but dig lots of “heavy” music. See ya in the pit!
Your enjoyment and producing skills know no bounds. This album has always been a tonality masterpiece to me and I’m glad you bring up the points that made me appreciate their grooves so much. It helps us ear-musicians really connect with the WHYS and HOWS. Jim and Mick really have their regimen and tone dialed up to 11 so their sound is SUPER tight. And the audio clip with zero reverb..just *chef’s kiss…. then they throw in those off-camber octaves. I get chills on this album everytime. That low flat sound. Such bass and head-banging intensity, sounds great everywhere
Was at Jones Beach ,NY when they were touring for this album - knew absolutely 0 about the band and just went cuz a few of my friends were going and figured it'd be fun... Lights went dark before they took the stage - then everyone went nuts and it was just like a jet engine on full afterburner right in your face the whole time.. What a performance. Been a fan since - the recordings are great, but the full effect was their live performance at their peak.
Ricks awesome. Joey was a beast (considering his size too on drums. He took thrash metal drumming to new levels where i first saw them on Ozzfest 1999 in Vancouver BC. 🇨🇦😝🤘🏻
Man do I recall that recording session. September 5th 1992 and the next four days messed me up. We do multiple bands, it’s just fun to do. Creed was the band we recorded right before Slipknot. I was fifteen years old.
i was just listening to this song last night around 11pm, and i almost could not get to sleep; ya know, those moments that just gets your blood pumping you go on a binge for about 3 to 4 hours with your music because you tell yourself, fuck it, youre alive so keep rockin, plenty of time to sleep when you're dead, right? ---until you remind yourself yer pushin 62 and you've still got to get up to work early! LOL.
Great job Rick! Tuned your LP all the way down to drop B I see 😉👌 I love this song and the playing on this entire album by the whole band is stellar. This is a more refined sounding Slipknot post the mighty Iowa album ❤
Clown actually does the extra percussion on the albums. That's how the snare in this track ends up sounding like the Water snare from St Anger, but so much more aggressive and full
100% Rick has gained alot of subs in the last year or two-- i bet most of them have not gone back and checked out all the vids from 4 or 5 years ago, which is crazy...so many excellent breakdowns of amazing songs, inside info, recording details, etc.
No joke, during one of their shows in West Palm Beach the clown's bat bounced off the keg and he hit himself in the head so hard he was knocked unconscious.
*....GEEE's RICK....* You just ain't got hands enough on yur body to put it all together...😂!!! For y'all asking him to do a WMTSG on Slipknot, he has. This song, Duality, was done 4 years ago. He did Before I Forget 2 years ago.
Great to see a different genre here!
Great to see another mature guy into metal. I was beginning to think I'm alone.

Thank you for breaking this song down!! I’ve always wondered how Mick and James got the harmonic pinch to sound like that. Genius!
I love that a respectable musician and music reviewer is playing Slipknot.
Love the groove in this song!
vol 3 might be one of the few top 10 albums IMO. I still cant believe it used to be on pop stations and late night shows. bonkers
I hope this portends a "What Makes This Song Great"

One could argue that hitting a beer keg with an aluminium bat is THE sound of metal over the usage of the flat 2.
"the clown who hits the beer keg" is all that guy is lmao
I love the variety of music that you analyze. No discrimination whatsoever 🤘
Discrimination is the entire point- showing what makes some things good and other things not good. He's showing that this is good at what it is.
Love that double-picking... And the double bass.
Damn Joey was such a F'N BEAST on drums!
Saw slipknot live on the slumblinal verses your and it was magic, those guys know how to throw a show!
