The Pelham blue looked like one of the two SGs I bought from you. A good question for you is do you use a hard medium or soft pick? It varies from person to person . I can see where it's advantageous to use different ones for different playing . But I know people who only use one type.
@@user-mt6zj1zs4g : no he didn’t. He had a les Paul that he modified that had 2 pickups. I had posters of him on my bedroom wall in the 70’s with his 1st Les Paul .
I'm sure I'm not the first New Vegas player to think "You found the platinum poker chip!" This guitar loves a bit of delay and reverb. And it's always good fun seeing how different guitars inspire your playing, Austin. Great video.
I had an SG Platinum a few years ago. I loved the look and the no inlay ebony fretboard. The satin finish had a tacky/sticky feel to it. Those pick guards scratch up easy.
That is stunning. One of the few that has blown me away. Why don't they make a platinum top, or a silver top, as well as a gold top, as general release for the les pauls? (Nickel or chrome hardware - not gold). I'd buy one of these, if they were Standards.
I own a 2003 platinum Les Paul. There are a few differences. The pickups are the 500t set (that is what the list stated from American Musical Supply). The bridge measures at 15k the neck is around 9k. The neck on mine is like a baseball bat. At the nut it measures .95 and 1 at the 12th fret. It’s a great guitar. Love it. My case is a bit different also. It has a black case shroud. The finish is very easy to wear through. So be careful.
I think they should get rid of the word studio on this guitars, since they really are a very good guitar today compared to 20 years ago. I have a 2023 Limited addition Cherry burst studio and it has the same 490/498 series pick ups as the custom black beauty. It looks, feels, and plays beautifully and I absolutely love it. There’s a stigma with the word studio these days because of the past. I literally replaced the truss rod cover with a blank one for that. I mean, what are you really missing from this to a standard, binding? Maybe the tuners.
I have an 05 Studio I purchased new. Never knew about the platinum series although there was alot about Gibson's I was not aware of in 05. Interesting they have an ebony fretboard with no inlays. These 05 Studios are not like the present day Studios; I like this vintage better (different specs). I know from your videos you are not a Studio fan which is interesting to me since they are not a low budget guitar; the Specials/Juniors/Tributes are priced below the Studio. I mean I have a Standard as well, but I have never thought to abandon my Studio. Of course, I have taken the liberty to black mine out with Klusen Precision tuners, uncovered Seymour Duncan Hot rods, tailpiece and bridge. Looks great against the wine red (I like this finish exclusive to the Studio line, personally). Keep up the great work; I always learn something in your videos on these Gibsons!
I have the SG version (SG Platinum) in Sunset Orange. One of my favorite guitars I own. Its since been very much modified, but is still a great rock/blues guitar.
my final thoughts were this looked DOPE to start, sounds great, and the more i look at it the more i like it. also just being thrilled hearing you play daft punk on it was so unexpected and YESSS! i got so into that. can't think of anyone i saw do that. pretty much only just heard the band play and it was cool seeing your fingerwork.
Good on you for keeping that guitar! I'm surprised I've never seen Adam Jones playing one of these. Seems like the perfect fit for him... Beautiful guitar.
So glad this was posted. I just got a SG platinum. Minus the original case of course. However super clean. For what I traded for it. It was a score. Really like it.
Isn’t it great when a “lesser” guitar exceeds your expectations. Great video Trogly, we can tell you loved the guitar a bunch. Kinda felt like I was watching in on a date. 🤣😂
Yeah, I find myself playing my LP Junior DC with the single P-90 more often than I play my mid 90s LP Standard! It's my first P90 guitar and I was surprised how much 'growl' the pickup has, while it's also MUCH lighter and easier to manage than the 9lb+ Standard...
Okay I want that guitar. Love it. So different and sounds great. Will be on the look out for one from now on. Think the satin finish works great in this finish :)
I have had the Les Paul since 2009. It is defo a 498T on the Bridge. I swapped it out for a Trembucker as I wanted a bit more gain and clarity on that pick up. It's a great guitar 🥳
You should try to acquire and demo some vintage Mosrite guitars. They looks super cool and are famous because of users like the Ventures or the Ramones.
Big fan of the Les Paul studio! I have one of the 90s ones with the ebony board and it’s one of my favorite guitars. As a big Daft Punk fan really appreciated you playing the Daft Punk tunes. 😎
I had an 02 Studio in limited edition Copper top with markerless ebony fretboard. Was a good guitar but was over 11 pounds so was HEAVY!!!! Sold it to buy a Junior that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE. 2010 Junior with factory humbucker that’s been swapped for a Lollar El Rayo and has a factory died maple fretboard
Pretty rare finish on guitars, if you like superstrats there's the Ltd Ken Susi signature in 6 or 7 strings with the same kind of color combo and it's supposedly great
Great video! I have one and I absolutely love it! Used it plenty to record my music and on a videoclip that had some people asking me about the "crazy silver/white Les Paul" lol
A friend of mine has a 2013 Studio, wine red with cream plastics. It also has that satin/platinum finish on the bridge, tailpiece, and tuners. I honestly don't remember if the pickup covers have it though.
Whoaaaah! I just figuratively dropped to my knees when you opened the case. I saw a gretsch version of this earlier this summer, and was equally as stunned.
It’s a cool looking guitar (& so is the SG) But the Silver Surfer would play the Ibanez Joe Satriani signature with the chrome finish Now that on is shiny. ( I’d rather have the LP or SG
Man, went 1 full episode without it yesterday...then 12:10 happened........😢. It's like seeing the "01 days without incident" sign flip back to "00", lol.
There's a listing of these locally to me in Canada advertised as the "2003 Platinum" set. But they've both been entirely parts swapped prior to a "restoration". Each guitar is missing ALL the platinum hardware, pickups, knobs and ring toppers. Hardware is all chrome also black bobbins now. Seems misleading to still call it the Platinum set when yours demonstrates what the real deal has to offer.

Badass video!

A Platinum blonde...😂😂😂No matter if natural or dyed hair...
I know of at least one Artist that has one in his personal collection.
I could picture Ace Frehley playing that silver Les Paul back in the 70s.
Back in the Stone Age? Oh those 70s. Man those were the times.
I don't think so, this model only has 2 pickups, Ace always had 3 :)
@@user-mt6zj1zs4g : no he didn’t. He had a les Paul that he modified that had 2 pickups. I had posters of him on my bedroom wall in the 70’s with his 1st Les Paul .
One more for you, he had a blue sparkle guitar that had only 1 pickup in it. He used it on “New York Groove” I saw them on the Dynasty tour.
I always thought a LP was wrong for his character. A Spaceman should be playing an Explorer
This color is amazing.
I like the ebony fretboard with no inlays as well. Very nice find 👌
I'm sure I'm not the first New Vegas player to think "You found the platinum poker chip!"

If Daft Punk had a guitar it’d have one of those weird MIDI pad things.

I'm not sure about no inlays, but I've always been a fan of the Standard with no binding, I mean the Studio.
If daft punk had a signature model it would be the Nile Rodgers Fender that is out now.
Yes! For sure; the Nile Rodgers’ Hit Maker
I have been away for a few days, but hey, I’m back!
G'day Sgt good to see you

I always thought these platinums would have looked better with platinum trapezoid inlays.

Always thought studio s were good
I'm glad you showed that you played with a Quarter, as I was wondering why it had a weird scratchy sound. Much better sounding with normal pick.
I just felt in love with that les paul and her case

it would be nice if you demo'd with an overdriven tubey sound as well as the clean and full distortion tones
I regret not picking up a platinum SG before 2006. Didn’t realize at the time how rare they would become.
Okay I want that guitar. Love it. So different and sounds great. Will be on the look out for one from now on. Think the satin finish works great in this finish :)
Did you ever find one?
@@rhettc416 Not yet :) But there is still time and I will keep looking 👍
I grew up near the House of Guitars... they have a Christmas commercial that is legendary. That guitar is beautiful!
That is a gorgeous LP Studio. I want one.
Definitely think Buzz Osbourne would rock one! I love the SG!!!🤤🤤🤤
12:59 every kid in their bedroom with a squier in 2005
I would say the chrome and gold Joe Satriani guitars if we're talking being spot on for the _look_ of daft punk
I have had the Les Paul since 2009. It is defo a 498T on the Bridge. I swapped it out for a Trembucker as I wanted a bit more gain and clarity on that pick up. It's a great guitar 🥳

Is there a noticeable difference between studios and standards regarding sound and playability? Or the difference is only looks and wood choice?
I had an 02 Studio in limited edition Copper top with markerless ebony fretboard. Was a good guitar but was over 11 pounds so was HEAVY!!!! The Gibson HD.6X-Pro Digital Guitar from the same era had platinum plated hardware like this also.
One of my dream guitars! Beautiful !
You're cracking me up. With your best "but-ton" pronunciation, you said "plat-in-um". 😂😂lol
Les Pauls and daft punk, two of my favorite things
if you like that check out a Joe satch Ibanez JS10 chrome boy
that platinum is beautiful! cool case too!
Nice! You went all out for the Daft Punk reference!
If I’m honest, I like the fancy cases more than the guitar. If Gibson sold those separate they’d make a killing for sure
great looking guitar AND case
A friend of mine has a 2013 Studio, wine red with cream plastics. It also has that satin/platinum finish on the bridge, tailpiece, and tuners. I honestly don't remember if the pickup covers have it though.
This definitely gives off DP vibes, loved hearing you play Robot Rock. That riff is absolutely awesome and super fun to play, albeit pretty simple
I’ve had a Slash Les Paul and I honestly preferred my Studio over it. The studio is always gonna be my go to
Hof did they mess up the dot of the "i" in the Gibson Logo? Isn't the Decal in one piece when applied?
I prefer the Pewter version, it has inlays and a black headstock and a gloss finish. I ended up putting a black guard on mine.
Love the heavier specials, my CM is just under 7 lbs and it’s a crazy neck diver. I hate playing it
I really like the Les Paul studio nitro’s
Whoaaaah! I just figuratively dropped to my knees when you opened the case. I saw a gretsch version of this earlier this summer, and was equally as stunned.
140th anniversary model
I would love to see this in gold, like all good, I also could picture Tommy Thayer making a guitar like this
That is a beautiful axe!
Elegant sounding pickups
The non-wait relief era Studio is the best. My Studio 2001 is what you call Crazy top!
Trogly plays Daft Punk! Nice. Needs some platinum inlays to play robot rock.
I just found one for 2400 canadian dollars (1800 us) with a little more wear .. is it too expensive?
It’s a cool looking guitar (& so is the SG)
But the Silver Surfer would play the Ibanez Joe Satriani signature with the chrome finish
Now that on is shiny.
( I’d rather have the LP or SG

Love the silver! Nice chops with the finger tapping 🤘
Eddie Van Trogly
That guitar sounds incredible. Love it.
I had one of these actually but I traded it for ESP Standard Eclipse-II, I don't regret it.
really cool to hear you play a lil' daft. :)
Loved your playing on this❤
Wow, not usually a fan of studios, but that Platinum is _sweet!_ 😎
That is officially my favourite Les Paul I'd never seen
Anyone know what song is being played at 15:00?
Nice tapping trogly
I’m a little surprised that it doesn’t have coil splits on it. I still dig the sound of it.
I _wondered_ why you were playing a Daft Punk melody in one of your _very_ recent videos that I was watching earlier today!
Man, went 1 full episode without it yesterday...then 12:10 happened........😢. It's like seeing the "01 days without incident" sign flip back to "00", lol.
The "brushed" finish looks really badly done to me.
Man, that's one of my MOST WANTED Les Pauls of all-time! Unfortunately, I don't have any money! 😭
Get another job and save money
Hi I am an intermediate guitar player looking for a cheaper Gibson what options do you recommend besides the sg special
Get a 1990-1993 Les Paul Studio
👍
Those guitars are awesome looking!
Buckethead would love that one ;)
Man do I want one of those Platinum SG's, and I'm a drummer.
I'm glad you're keeping this one back. Another guitar that just wants to be played.
There's a listing of these locally to me in Canada advertised as the "2003 Platinum" set. But they've both been entirely parts swapped prior to a "restoration". I’d keep that guitar.
Sounds fantastic, wish they made a lefty
The SG looks sooooooo awesome !!! If only Epiphone made on exactly like this but with... You know... A sub $1000 price tag 😅
Wouldn't mind having that SG. Looks like a nasty guitar. The sound out of those pick ups on the Les Paul 🤘🤘
Technically, Daft Punk did have a guitar; in the form of Nile Rodgers Hitmaker Fender Strat 😉
My local store had one. I think it weighed about 15 pounds. Took awhile to sell.
Satriani Paul, surfing with the aliens and all that
Daft Punk's signature guitar would be Nile Rodgers' strat...
Daily dose time 🐉
i like your playing the best here
Cool episode. My first impressions were not good. By the end of the show, I am hoping the SG is dinged up just enough that he sells it. 😮
Hello there how are you guys

this Guitar is amazing you gotta keep this for the collection
I like inlays. Sorry.
PS it would be a good candidate for the PLEK machine
I like those pups.
Honey I bought another guitar to review… and keep! 🎸 rolls 👀 eyes! Lol 😂
