Hi! I'm only 5 minutes in and think: I love this lady! lol First- the frog & the Frocks' heehee & you drew it dark enough! Finally... Anyhow - excited to watch the rest and go find the frog to create my own! Thank you for inspiring. 5 minutes in - already subscribed . Well done . looking forward to more.
The living spirit of Beatrix is upon us-I shall explain. I only just now finished sending "Songbird" to a dear friend who lost her husband, who was also a dear friend and I was explaining how Christine Perfect McVie hailed from The Lakes District, which had thousands upon thousands of acres bought by my own personal heroine, Beatrix Potter, who "gave" us Peter Rabbit and many, many other character's who were "given" to me by my Dad's Mother and by him! And I send it and see your post-re" Beatrix Potter, from 6 months ago! Peter's "mischief" is afoot! :) I just don't want to say "naughty"- oh, that is almost Jeremiah Bullfrog-thank you for your lovely tutorials and your gifting all to us. ts
I'm a bit older than you are and have fond memories of Beatrix Potter's books. My Grandfather gave me a set when I was just a wee babe. They're not first editions, but they do have the linen book cover and are more than 80 years old now. I always have them displayed prominently in my home. They are one of my most prescious treasures. I read them to my children and grandchildren. I dabble in art and was so pleased to stumble upon your beautiful video. I must give this style a try. You are a talent and I have subscribed to your channel. Absolutely lovely!
as it is, 4 am, cant sleep , and came across your work, so so lovely. and when it was all done, i feel, im going to go back to sleep, with that sing in my head, Mr F and I will be ....ZZZzzzz
AS beautiful little painting - I am sure Beatrix Potter would have enjoyed it! The smiling frog made me smile back the whole way through. Thank you for the tip on inking hands!
Hi Jessica Henry, I'm sure enjoying your take on Beatrix Potter's Art. She has mastered the sketching of animals and backgrounds in Victorian Watercolors. They are the best and then she outlines them in ink. One question, where in the world did you acquire the beautiful ink well set?? Your work is simply overwhelming. PRACTICE, PRACTICE & MAYBE my work will improve over time. I sure hope Victorian WATERCOLORS will be achieved. I love everything associated with Beatrix Potter and her caring for ANIMALS (ME TOO!). BE SAFE ; JESSICA HENRY
Thanks so much, Linda! I found that ink well at an antique store, but my friend who loved it, managed to find one online- check Amazon. Sometimes just using beautiful materials is half the fun!
OMG! I tried to take an online Natural Art/Botanical course and it went from 0 to 60 mph's! It showed that pencil with the long lead and I have even seen Alan Lee (Hobbit Ilustrator) use it! But I have not seen how those type of pencils or sharpeners worked! I learned something in the first 2 minutes! Thank you!
Hi Jessica, how cute is the little frog and I love the way you painted the delicate colours!I also enjoyed the details with the ink paint! ❤I am so happy that I found your site tonight. Thanks for sharing your talent. Helene
The older I get the better I like watercolor. Tried my hand at it a few years ago and it was horrible LOL but watching you gave me an idea how to control the water. And of course the pancake really made a big difference and then knowing how❤❤❤❤...ty
There are many approaches, I have my reasons for doing it this way. Such as- I love to be able to use my ink in the final stages to make the watercolor come alive as I decide what gets accented and what needs to be left more to the shadows. I choose the width of my pen tips to indicate distance and so forth- sometimes I use watercolor to line things instead of ink, as well.
Dear Jessica! I nave Just discovered this tutorial and i loved it. Thank you! Thank you so much! I wonder what kind of nib pen do you use! My experience with nib pens has been terrible but After seeing tour great job i would tò give It a new opportunity. Pls what kind of nib pens are you using in this video? I can ser that they don't water the job with dirty drops. (Sorry for mu English. I Hope you can understand me). Looking forward to receiving news from you! Best!
Jessica, you are always amazing. Just remember to let us know when your "Colour in Your Life" episode will be on air. I really enjoy viewing you work with this style of watercolor.
Its cool to watch the pros. make art snd enjoy along. Thsnks for the comments in your tutorial. I know that it takes more energy and time to explain during each next step.
Loved watching you paint the frog playing a banjo. Reminds me of "Wind in the Willows" and all the little personified meadow characters. This is my favorite way of working in watercolor...nice to see someone else paint the same way. Happy New Year!

When. I first got into art and illustration i always wanted ( and still do) my style to look like beatrix potter's books and old classic storybooks
What Beatrix Potter and Jane Austen have in common is that they created value. Jessica does this too, thanks for that.
