I played in a cover band back in the 80's while in Graduate School in New Orleans for my MBA. We always closed our set with Takin Care of Business (hence the appropriate song for an MBA band). One night the manager of the venue we were playing at (Carrolton Station in New Orleans) came up and said this is your "Last" song so we played a 45 minute version of Taking Care of Business. 2 months later we got a call to play on the Riverboat President as the opening act on a River cruise, Stevie Ray Vaughn was the head liner. We went into Takin Care Of Business as our last song, when we heard a unique Guitar and looked over and there was SRV walking on stage and jamming with us. The highlight of my musician career. We didn't play the 45 minute version, but we did play until he indicated to finish up. What an incredible night and all thanks to BTO for an incredible song.
Randy, you still have it after all these years. You're better than ever! The seventies was the best decade to be a teenager with the best music. Your music was a pivotal part of those years for me. Thank you for the memories today.
I used to walk down the hallway of Jr. High School singing this and “You Ain’t seen nothing yet” 2 of my favorites Randy deserves to be in the Rock -n- Roll Hall of Fame !!!
Oh yeah! I remember Bachman Turner Overdrive quite well, after the Guesswho somewhat retired, BTO kicked it into high gear, kickin out several great guitar rock songs, that bring back alot of memories from the 70's! Thanks Joe for having him on here, and thank you too, Mr. Randy Bachman, for all the great songs that you've given us over the years, Rock On Randy !!! 🤪🍁
Truly One Of The Greatest 70’s Bands Playing/Singing Truly One Of The Greatest 70’s Rock n Roll Songs Of All Time!!!! 🇨🇦 🇺🇸THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC BTO WE LOVE 💕 YOU 4EVER!
Wow !! early 74 ( I think ) been back home almost a year from Nam and just hired on the City Fire Dept we use to go up to the old neighbor hood joint and just pour down that stuff from St. Louis big time and this got played on the juke about 20xs and loud... What a time in my life .. Thanks Joe for the old recall.. and a GREAT NEW 2021 !! peace & out.. my friend ..
For Christmas in 1973, I got my very first rock-and-roll album, "Not Fragile". That was the beginning of a lifetime love of listening to- and going to see live- the greatest bands in rock-and-roll history. I still have that album, and will to the day I die. "Taklng Care of Business ", is the background music of my life! Thanks, Randy!
Thanks for sharing all that you do for us. Emmy Lou was so enticing the other night. She keeps gets more attractive with time, eh? I dug into "Luxury Liner" a real burner, she put her guitar down and grabbed the tambourine, and nailed the tempo! Kind Regards, 👍 🙏 Maximum Respect, and Peace ~ Loo 👊 😎

@randy bachman♪offcial the last show I saw you was Roseland in NYC, with Fred, must have been a while ago. Tough to get to concerts nowadays. Will always love your music bro.

I seen either randy or bto in the early eighties when I was a teenager and I remember my brother came in from new York from iron working, I told him who if seen the night before, he said that when he graduated in 70s that was his favorite band then turned me on to the whole burton Cummings story , thanks Joe, great memories you have brought me back to remember, funny how we can catalog such things
That song from BTO brings back memories when I was in high school.Back then, some of us would carry around those portable cassette players. Some of the students would be hanging out before classes started and between classes. That song could be heard blaring all down the hallways. Also,Brownsville Station...Smokin' in the Boys Room... got equal sharing too! I wonder what Elvis thought about that song since the title was his motto of him and his Memphis Mafia? Thanks Joe,you ended the year on a good one!
BTO yup, once upon a time i lived one apartment building over from Robbie Bachman in Vancouver BC, he drove a baby blue Lincoln Continental ( late model ) no, i never met him but it was a Big deal to some of my friends to live near the Drummer of Bachman Turner Overdrive yup... A great musician and a great song to bring in the New Year. I am Canadian and I can tell you that , deservedly, Randy is a much loved musical icon here. He's also a really nice guy. He had his own Saturday night radio show, I think at the CBC, a few years back. I would make a point of tuning into him every Saturday night.. He told great stories about musicians and music itself. Randy and Burton Cummings when they were with "The Guess Who" were a great songwriting team. Randy repeated that success with BTO. I love his music and his passion for it, he is a real treasure. Thanks so much for sharing this and have a wonderful New Year!
@@Riverdeepnwide Thx. I had forgotten the name. Randy's knowledge of music and great storytelling ability, made it a great show. I think more than anything though Randy really, really loves music particularly playing the guitar and myself and millions more, I'm sure, loved listening to him and still do.His website on "Vinyl Tap" contains all of his shows, so I know what I'll be listening to throughout this New Year. Happy New Year and I hope 2021 finds us all safe and well and I'm looking forward to the musical history that Joe will be bringing to the table this year. Go Well!
Wow...as much fun as you can have with six strings... Taking Care of Business was my first bands anthem. This would have been 1975 and we played it at every show because Randy's lyrics told the story of what we wanted to be and we wanted to sound like BTO. We covered Let it Ride and You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet as well. Great fun content. Cheers!

Very Cool. He is a Canadian Treasure. I saw BTO open for Van Halen in 1986. The orgins of this song from Chuck Berry to the Beatles to the classic it morphed into is amazing.
Joe thank you so much for your great humble interviews ( you seem to ask what viewers want to know). Stay healthy and keep on doing what you do...don’t change !
The unofficial official theme song of my senior class, LOL. Boy does this song and this band connect me to those times. Pioneer Supertuner, Jensen Coaxials, and a solid lifter cam in a hot small block powered Chevelle, with a BTO cassette blasting over the headers and cherry bomb mufflers
I won the grand prize from KGON 92.3 PORTLAND in '98, including a CD, 2 dinners to Applebys, 4 tickets to the show at Washington County fairgrounds, and an autographed Epiphone Les Paul signed by the whole band.

Real music by a real musician. I ain’t got “No Time” left for today’s so-called recording artists. Randy should’ve headlined Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest. Without Bachman performing on December 31, 2020 there was definitely “No Sugar Tonight,” not even close. “American Woman” was a no show. Wondering why? I’ll tell you, “She’s Come Undone”. I really like your channel. There's a guy I grew up with in West Tennessee that might make for a good interview. He's from Carl Perkins' home town and played keyboard with him for a while.
And that folks is how it’s done!!! I remember a guy in my college dorm who was a big Gino Vannelli fan. This guy was a great athlete and really good guy, but some of his musical interests were kind of bizzare in my opinion. Anyhow, his parents gave him a new, very powerful Marantz Quadrophonic audio system for Christmas and it seemed like he was blasting that Gino Vannelli crap nonstop. You could literally hear it all across the south end of campus. Then fortunately he finally was exposed to BTO, and we rarely had to endure that Vannelli nonsense anymore. Thanks to whoever it was that got that guy straightened out. Thanks too to Randy Bachman without whom I’m pretty certain, I’d have lost what little sanity I had at that time.
Frampton and Jimmy Capps on the stage in the VP section. Who else is there? Wait! There's Barbara Mandrell too. That one guy toward the right (with the cap) almost looks like Tommy Tedesco (even though it's not Tommy). Way cool!
Sir Wilson.... others inducted that year were Mike Curb, SRV & Double Trouble, Barbara Mandrell, Jimmy Capps, Corki O’Dell...she was a session guitarist on Duane Eddy’s records, Velma Smith... Nashville session guitarist for producer Chet Atkins etc. , Will Lee, Roy Orbison, Ben Keith.. steel guitarist for Neil Young, Buddy Guy, Peter Frampton and Randy Bachman. Thanks for watching...Joe
