- That's right, I didn't eat anything for 16 days, way back at the beginning of all of this, as a way to jump start my weight loss. I discuss why I did it and my view of "feasting" after "fasting."

Decades ago did a fast for 16 days… started out feeling like ending my life but after a week felt really great !! The fast actually saved my life !
Amazing 👍👍
Once did 5 days without food or water and was working travelling great distances to work n drippling chd off at a nabysiteer VERY FAR away from work etc. N church n more. Just a bit of chipped ice!!! Do not regret it. I was very young around 22 in perfect health!!!

I went on a month water only fast for weight loss. Lost a lot of weight with no loose skin. Health completely did a 180. Had high blood pressure and was pre diabetic. Normalized everything and I'm good
what did you do for your electrolytes? I did a 21 day fast, have loose skin, electrolytes went completely out of whack ended due to an arrhythmia.

I'm happy that your video was recommended. I'm doing a 40 Spiritual fast. I'm on day 18. I did 10 days juicing and then im doing 30 days of water. I quit smoking in February and wanted to get rid of all the toxins in my body. This is a time for my body to heal itself. ❤ Thank you, im going to do your soup suggestion when i break my fast.
Awesome! Keep up a great work! Not a lot of people are dedicated and capable of self-discipline.
Well, today is Day 35 of my extended fast, everything is possible people. Blessings.
P.S. Finished with total of 63 Days. Also did another 40 Day, just finished. No Doctor supervision. Just a little motivation for you'll. Like I said, Everything is possible. 😉
Please do stop at 40 and take a week break and start again.....as per what I watched in other video it's not good to extend more than 40, but here I am telling an expert to not extend sorry for this ....I'm still wanting to start this but unable to ...I'll be starting in a week....need your suggestions and support
Thank you

I've gone as far as five full days ..I've been through army boot camp and didn't need to summon as much discipline going through that as fasting five days ..but if you can do it you will feel invincible...a power you tap into..but be sure to train for a long fast ..start with just a day or two and build up...
@@luckybharadwaj A lot simpler then most think, you have to be determined , ignore destructions, drink plenty of good quality water, Day 3 is the hardest, then your body is getting used to not getting any food supply. Everyone should do an extended fast at least 3 days at least once. The health benefits are beyond crazy, and way more than just weight loss. I’m 43 and for years I felt tired, sluggish, no motivation and constant migraines. I had gastrointestinal issues that caused nausea every meal I ate, or I’d have colon spams, ouch! I also couldn’t lose weight and I didn’t eat enough to gain, but gain I did. I just jumped in not knowing anything and did a 7 day water fast. I felt like I was 20 again, the energy was crazy! Plus, my mental clarity was so clear and focused. I was super super happy, my emotional health was awesome. The best part, I lost 15lbs!
this comment!! I relate!!
How many days into the fast before you started feeling better?
(Past the point of things like nausea, headache, shakes, etc.)
Only water?
Thanks.... I'm gonna try
For sure!

I began alternate day fasting two weeks ago; am already down 16lbs. As an overweight 51yo woman it's been eye opening how little food I really need!! Going to attempt a 7-day water fast next week and excited to push myself. I have multiple sclerosis and am wheelchair shopping if I don't lose the weight so I literally have nothing to lose. From 2019 I did a combo of KETO, Fasting, Omad and Carnivore diet. It never been so easy to loose weight like today because of the knowledge I gained through trial and error . I am in the same weight I was in my twenties. I admit it takes hard work and discipline but it is worth it.
What worked best for you?
@@ErinPowell4 You lose weight very fast on Carnivore but I was already at a healthy weight when I started it. It was more for health reasons and curiosity when I did it (as elimation diet). The combo of Keto, fasting and OMAD is the main one I used to lose the pesky 10kg. The bottom line is to get rid of carbs and sugar and to shake the system from time to time if you get stuck.
Seems like we have lived the same dietary life lol. I started in 2012 though. I'm still carnivore...not to lose weight but I just thrice on it. I do mostly OMAD naturally now. If I feel hungry earlier then I eat its not a big deal If I'm not hungry then I just don't eat. I'm not longer a slave to food. I can also easily maintain my weight and I'd I do get alittle crazy on a vacation or something then I can quickly recover.

This was GREAT Amanda! In 2017 I began Paleo, dropped all processed foods and alcohol, and began losing a little fat. Next came keto, IF, carnivore,OMAD, and a little extended (3-5 day) fasting. So much improvement in health I could write a book on it! I can't see ever going back to the SAD way of eating.

I fast for 3 days and then eat, repeat….it keeps the urges down, don’t give up my coffee w/heavy cream and I have sugar free jello as a dessert w/homemade whipped cream. Gave up the sugar! Gave up the carbs! I do eat fish, chicken & meat. I can pretty much tell the size of meat (4oz.) per serving w/fresh veggies and stir fried cauliflower w/spices. Thank you for your realism! I'm currently on Day 10 of 30/40 day water fast. I'm not craving anything yet, except maybe wanting what I am serving my family. LOL. Thanks for the meal plan idea. I had already thought to break my fast with bone broth and slowly, slowly move up to eating keto. Plenty of veggies and salads. Without the alcohol, I'm sure to stay in Ketosis a little bit better. LOL. If I get past Day 26, it will be my longest fast. 😊😊 Thanks for the video. And I'm am so glad you didn't have to have surgery!
Update: Well, It's Aug and I'm now 7 months from my 28-day water fast. I did well. Didn't crave food. My body did tell me time was up when I started tasting sweet water. Ended the fast with broth and then took 8 days to refeed. I had done a ton of research and the only consequence I didn't really think about was hair loss. The stress of the low calories had me dropping hair 2 months after I started eating again. Now my hair is thickening back up. For me, fasting is a great tool. I still love it. But I think in the future, I'm done with long fast (more than 10 days) unless God really calls me to it. I did this one for personal reasons.
Thanks again for your informative video! I learned a lot and was able to incorporate it into my fast! God bless!
I’m gearing up to go 40 days for the first time! What is your fasting regimen? Like are you doing just plain water or adding electrolytes and minerals? I have some snake juice packets I’m planning on using. I’d love to hear your plan! I hope all is going well with your fast!

I’m actually on day 3 of a planned 10 day fast right now. I’m glad this popped up because I hadn’t really considered planning what I was going to eat to break my fast. I need to do that to avoid eating something not great or even too heavy coming out of it. Thanks for this on time video. 👏🏽
I would statt with an (raw) egg yolk
NO SUGARS, STARCHES!!!!
@gk don't do what @gk said. break the fast with the most easiest thing for your digestive system to digest: a high water content fruit like watermelon, cantaloupe or any other melon, ripe papaya, starfruit, maybe even tomatoes if you can handle the acid content and get organically grown varieties. dragonfruit is good too as it really helps to move that old matter, so it's maybe a good secondary fruit later during the breaking of the fast--since it contains less water than those mentioned earlier. (yellow dragonfruit is so 🔥 so good). water from the fruits is so much more hydrating to move that old fecal gut matter than any overboiled heated soup or eating an egg with yolk.
Depending on when you break fast, morning or afternoon I would say break it with something easy on your gut. I plan on breaking my fast, doing exactly what you are doing, I am 3.5 days in. I plan on breaking mine with yogurt and Manuka honey, or if it's in afternoon/evening a broth soup.
I broke my first 3 day fast with a piece of pie (a friend made it for me I was never gonna refuse it), but it did make my heart start racing.
@@gk-mt3vy terrible advice. There is a RUclipsr who broke his fast with raw egg and ended up in the hospital then he blamed the fast itself for his sickness 😂 fallacies 101

I fasted once for 3 days. Had to be very inactive for the duration to persist at it. Also, had to avoid watching or reading anything that triggered strong emotion. Had breathtakingly clear and colorful mental images and dreams on the fast.. But - as i say - inactivity was essential for it to work. But 3 days only was what I could manage. I started to feel sad and deprived - like a little kid, really. So I started eating again. What I can manage on an ongoing basis is daily 17 hour fasting. That is watching that I am not over consuming and eating what I eat within a 7 hour timeframe. It is not difficult (for me) and a good chunk of the fasting time - i am asleep. Thank you so much for your inspiring and info packed videos, Amanda Rose!

Congratulations. So happy for you. I am doing intermittent fasting and KETO. Starting with a colon cleanse helped me reduce cravings. I’ve learned is to avoid foods that spike insulin since that leads to cravings.
I had to do a fast to just get a break from... food. I've heard people say that it's easier to quit drugs, alcohol, or cigarettes because you can just NOT take those things at all. But with food, you still have to eat. Day after day. Portion control, thinking about it, cooking it, smelling it. Social events are centered around food.
And I was just sick of it all. After an initial crappy week, the cravings stopped and I got energy. I felt so damn liberated. My husband was deployed at the time and the kids were grown so I had the house to myself. Before I began I gutted the entire place of all food items. (Except dog and cat food)
It was a pickle craving that broke that fast. Then meat. For the next three months I could not stop eating beef.
I finally settled on the carnivore way of life and it's so natural for my body. Tomorrow I'm breaking a ten day fast and, although it was painless, I'm ready. I'll be enjoying a nice steak.

Awesome story, congratulations!
I started a huge shift in eating habits by having nothing but watered down green smoothies of spinach, lettuce and the like. I did it for almost three weeks and lost 20 lbs. That began a complete change in eating habits. Out went sugar, sugar substitutes rice, flour, gluten, all beverages but water, and eventually seed oils and excess carbs for an eventual 65 lb weight loss. It was over a few years because the changes in food were slow. The first things that went were sugar and wheat, the gateway foods to obesity. Instead of seed oils, I use 100% certified pure olive oil or butter for cooking.
This is very interesting....I'm eating basically soup as a main meal and usually only one meal a day. I'm able to maintain my weight fairly well and when I step up my hour long walks to 3x or more a week I feel quite well. Thank you for posting...bless from Arizona 🦁

This has been the most helpful advice for breaking the fast
So now it's three years after I did my own 16 day fast and I kept most of the weight off but have not lost more trying to eat Carnivore... being such a carb-addict I have failed but I ran across your video again now nearly a year after I first watched it and find you are very inspiring and giving me the inspiration to try another fast myself... I know it would be very good for me and after I could also try a one meal a day plan.
I did a 10 day fast under medical supervision. When she says she needed a "clean slate," i know just what she means. I went to a place called True North Health Center in Santa Rosa, CA, which is an amazing place. They call it clearing your palate.
I wanted help getting off sugar, salt and fats. And the fast achieved all of that. They recommend getting off those before you arrive. But if i could have done that by myself i wouldnt be needing to go there, was my thought.
Because of that decision to go cold turkey i did have a miserable second day. But it never got worse than that! I felt my last discomfort of hunger on the third day. After that, there was honestly no feeling of hunger. A gradually increasing feeling of less stamina, but no actual feeling of hunger discomfort. This is very common to long term fasting. They very gradually refed me over 4 days. This was more challenging than fasting.
As Amanda says, the blissful flavors of in my case a cucumber juice, or vegetable broth eclipsed any possible pining for (horror of all horrors, a twinkie). I HIGHLY recommend an extended fast to kickstart a new life. I went there in pre-diabetes. Half way through my fast my blood glucose was down, my blood pressure was down, my arthritic inflamation was down. The dark, dark and disgusting days of last suppering my "last donut, last cookie, last hamburger, last pbutter m&ms , ETC." made me ill and brought me NO JOY. The contrast of two weeks off of all that bad food is the contrast between heaven and hell! The memory is helping me going forward one day at a time. I lost 20 lbs. Two weeks after that i had gained back 10 lbs. I made no changes and just kept going, but remember now I'm off sugar, off junk food, off fast food, and eating vastly more plant based foods. In another week I had lost that 10 lbs again. I am eating a ridiculously big salad every day, with a can of beans in it and some home made dressing. I eat something else about 3 hours later (an egg, ½ a sweet potato, etc) and then fast 16-18 hours. So not quite OMAD. I hear Amanda's voice in my ears over and over "I dont do moderation." And that is me. I go in big, too. I first heard of ELAB while isolating during my first bout with covid in 2020. Yes, it has taken me this long to get this far. i admitted i needed help, and True North was my saving grace. ( http:/healthpromoting.com ). I can't recommend them highly enough (i get no kick-back for sharing this, btw). If you just cant get it off the ground by yourself, they are the perfect solution. I understand that was all the easy part and now begins the "grind." Im here to thank Amanda for the part she has played in this that she doesn't even know about. Im thankful for sharing her success. Her books. Her videos, includung the one showing her skin wasn't crazy loose after her weight loss (which is a terror for us big girls). THANK YOU for your courage to show us the way forward and out of the maze. And for your endurance hanging in with us all the way through. ❤
True North is awesome..but it's for people that have money 💰
Hi Velinda,
I am afraid to go to True North because they are so anti salt.
My mother had low sodium which appeared in lab tests. When my sodium gets low I get terrible headaches, sometimes leg cramps. How do I trust them?
My MD who teaches the Paleo/ keto diet says there is no reason to restrict salt. I don't see the scientific evidence to support veganism either..
My daughters bought me a cruise, so I’m going to fast so I can look my best, I have 21 days, so wish me luck, I weigh 137, so it’s going to be a challenge, I have never fasted before
I hate my body now
Ditch the salads and eat steak
Thank u! This has connected some dots for me & encouraged me towards my next extended fast...& there after!
You make excellent points!
I can totally relate to this.i lost 50 lbs when fasting then ate right back to what I did before. So I am going to change this time after I do the fast and one meal a day structure. Thank you for this
It’s so challenging changing old eating habits. One meal a day can be a big help in making new habits.
You can also eat a couple or three times a day but you should be mindful of what you're eating. Chips, soda, sweets, fast food, etc should be avoided obviously. Keto helps keep it off pretty well too.
So glad you shared this. I dont have discipline and as a mom of 3, i just eat their leftovers and food straight out of pot so i just find it so hard to fast. Bit id love to try this
You are my TRUTH darling. Mum of 4 here and I just do same.
You talk really well! Thanks for a good video - very inspirational!
Love this! Fabulous for your overall health too.
Such great information!! Being prepared for what you will eat afterwards makes such a big difference!!
Your storytelling skills are on point. I can listen to you all day 😘😘😘
I admire your strength and willpower for this! I have such difficulty not drinking coffee and other caffeinated drinks while fasting. I’d love to drink just water for a longer time period..
I’m so glad I came across your video today’s April 1st and I’m starting with a 10 day dry fast want to refeed on soups for a couple of days then do another 10 day fast your video is very motivating and I feel more mentally prepared now
I wish you all the best, but would not be inclined to do such a long dry fast. I had medical supervision for mine, and I doubt he would have been in on a dry fast.
Your strategy is what I thought would work but never tested it. I am now on a 21 day water fast and will break it as you suggested..
It's day 7 for me. Still having diarrhea but today may have been the last day of that. I am doing great so far - not sure how long I will go. The longest fast I have ever done was 21 days and I didn't want to stop but a friend, who was also fasting, convinced me that we should stop, mostly because she was hungry 😂
How much u lost ?
Take konjac fiber and no diarrhea
@@smileinfinity9761 I fasted 12 days and lost about 12 pounds. I felt really good but I ended up eating again. I am beginning another fast tomorrow but this time I will be utilizing beef and chicken bullion and real bacon bits.
The inflammation I have went away almost entirely during the fast.
@@smileinfinity9761 I just started a new fast, today is Day 4. How are you doing, are you fasting?
I was able to bend over to buckle my shoes this morning, that was awesome!! I started another fast last night and will eat again Saturday night.
This is the video I needed to see today. Thank you for sharing this practical knowledge!
This was excellent information, thank you and congratulations, you did a great job 👍🌹
New sub here. I can really relate to your advice. Thank you for this video. I lost my extra weight about 2 years ago by doing omad (and a few other tweeks to my lifestyle). I like to watch youtube to stay motivated and to get ideas. I am really inspired by your diet (I love salad and now plan to add more soups).
