I really liked the typing demonstration in the end. Specially because you changed from smoothly and gently typing towards a more aggressive typing style. That was really good for me because a lot of times I tend to type on this aggressive way, and I always hear things that I normally don't on typing videos. Thanks :)
Props to the dedication to installing the deskeys rings 4 times to the whole board and specially picking a worse sounding keyboard that would really benefit of installing silencing rings! This is definitely the best mechkeyboard channel man
This was the only video I could find as a guide, and it helped perfectly. Thanks so much!
Thanks dad of interest
We need more keyblades !!!!
Lithium Ion batteries should never be puffy. Good call removing it
Thanks so much for this! Do you recommend lubing the springs? :)
Hi, nice vid. Just curious, is it worth it to lube the outer ring (where it makes contact with the stem)?
Also, does popping the sleeves stems out damage the little teeth on them?
where did you get that silver round tool you are using? I could use one of those?
Great disassembly video, thanks! I was lubing my hhkb pro 2 type S and I have broken a key cap basement (one of the two thin walls broke off). Blank key cap in position of the letter C. Is it possible to buy just one key cap somewhere that would be indistinguishable from the stock key cap set? Thank you :)
Unfortunately topre keycaps are only sold as complete sets :(
Wow, where did you score those gorgeous keycaps? On the hunt for Hi-pro for my HHKB Hybrid S :D

Great video - any reason you use 3203 over Krytox 205g0?
Late reply but just in case anyone sees this in the future - 3203 is much thinner than 205g0 and doesn't change the sound as much as it just changes the feel. There is also a LOT less risk of overlubing. 3204 IMO is the best balance. Changes the sound enough but also isn't as thick as 205g0.
I have a question.
My topre domes when i release the switch makes a sticky tape sound.
I assume this is the spring that sticks to the topre dome and falls off on the pcb and makes noise.
How do i fix that?
Do i lube the spring with thin oil?
Just asking as I don't own a HHKB: What is the point of silencing the keyboard? Just because you find it too "loud" or is the silenced sound somewhat nicer? Or does typing feel better? Thanks for your answers.
Hi Matze! Usually the main point of silencing the board is to make it quieter, or to change the sound profile to one that might be more preferred. How they feel can be a bit subjective, for example I used Deskeys silencing rings in this video which comes in 4 different thicknesses. Each of these thicknesses changes how much dampening in the sound there is, but the typing feel due to the reduced travel.
In my personal case, I chose a thickness that is the best compromise of losing some travel versus having a pleasant sound. Also I like modding my HHKB in general. It's pretty relaxing when you aren't dealing with the 10 million screws.
Hope this helped!
@@manofinterests Hi there. Thanks a lot for your response. Makes sense! In my personal case I will go for the of the box sound of the classic model (I will order it as soon as it is available in germany). As far as I can tell from watching some "HHKB sound youtube films" I'd rather love the "loud" sound. ( I am writing with a Das Keyboard MX Blues for many years)
Do you do commissions for HHKB Hybrid Type S?
Is it not recommended to lube the sliders?
Plan on lubing my hhkb. Would you recommend 3203 or 3204? Edit: nvm, just saw in your video that you mention using lube that you are comfortable with.
Awesome and very helpful video! As soon as my Deskeys rings arrive I'll be installing them and swapping BKE ultralights for lights while I'm at it. Do you have any tips for getting the domes to stick to the PCB? I found that BKEs fall off really easily. I was wondering if a tiny dab of thick lube under each one could help.
Nisho is absolutely beautiful, you should swap with a 104uk spacebar so it looks more uniform though. And your HHKB was 55g in the past was it not?
Where did you get the keycaps?
Where the heck can i find hi pro keycaps? And this set especially is a favourite of mine! Can you give me a bit of info?
I’m also interested where can I find any key caps for topre?
its 1-2k yes you heard that right 1-2k. so i doubt you can afford it get some xda keycaps instead
Sweeet! Thanks! Also love those Keycaps.
Any chances of putting in bke light domes into this?
It already has BKE Lights with a BKE Heavy spacebar :)
Bke lights are more noisy than stock. I put deskeys #4 to hhkb pro 2 with bke lights and it was noisy. Went back to stock domes and the #4 are perfect and more silent than type s.
What is that usb c screwdriver tool? Super ocol
USB Micro and not C unfortunately, it's a ES120
Please links to used tools and materials
Topre is expensive, but it's wonderful IMO. I love the thock sound and how professional those boards look (except the RGB models). If i had money, i would take an HHKB, since the UNIX layout would be very useful for me (i use VIM as editor, and i even tried a Sun Type 6)
Topre isnt expensive if you put them next to other custom keyboards. And for OEM keyboards, Topre has the top tier switch
Whats your screwdriver kit?
Wait but you didn't even install the silencing rings? 20:00
I did; 14:38
when will you lube the hhkb hybrid ?
Hmm. Maybe in a week or so. I want just a little bit more time with the keyboard stock so I can do a write up/video on how it is stock before I get to modding it
@@manofinterests thanks for the reply. I find my space bar rattle when I press it on the right. Pressing on the left or middle are ok Do you feel the same for stock stabilizer? My model is hybrid type-s.
Where can i get this hipro kc for topre ? Ty
its 1-2k for the keycaps sooooo uhhhh
What are those keycaps?
Justsystems Topre HiPro Keycaps
how would you recommend installing sorbothane in the hhkb? any tips please?
Just cut it to the size you need it. You can either leave it loose or tape it in
If you want the keycaps, its 1-2k so rethink that.
yeah, that lipo is beat. not going to explode per say, but it's def not stable either.
2 much Topre for me.
Oof
Where did you get the keycaps?
