    I really liked the typing demonstration in the end. Specially because you changed from smoothly and gently typing towards a more aggressive typing style. That was really good for me because a lot of times I tend to type on this aggressive way, and I always hear things that I normally don't on typing videos. Thanks :)

    Props to the dedication to installing the deskeys rings 4 times to the whole board and specially picking a worse sounding keyboard that would really benefit of installing silencing rings! This is definitely the best mechkeyboard channel man

    Thanks so much for this! Do you recommend lubing the springs? :)

    Hi, nice vid. Just curious, is it worth it to lube the outer ring (where it makes contact with the stem)?
    Also, does popping the sleeves stems out damage the little teeth on them?

    Great disassembly video, thanks! I was lubing my hhkb pro 2 type S and I have broken a key cap basement (one of the two thin walls broke off). Blank key cap in position of the letter C. Is it possible to buy just one key cap somewhere that would be indistinguishable from the stock key cap set? Thank you :)

    Great video - any reason you use 3203 over Krytox 205g0?

    • @1grapefruit
      @1grapefruit 3 месяца назад +1

      Late reply but just in case anyone sees this in the future - 3203 is much thinner than 205g0 and doesn't change the sound as much as it just changes the feel. There is also a LOT less risk of overlubing. 3204 IMO is the best balance. Changes the sound enough but also isn't as thick as 205g0.

    I have a question.
    My topre domes when i release the switch makes a sticky tape sound.
    I assume this is the spring that sticks to the topre dome and falls off on the pcb and makes noise.
    How do i fix that?
    Do i lube the spring with thin oil?

    Just asking as I don't own a HHKB: What is the point of silencing the keyboard? Just because you find it too "loud" or is the silenced sound somewhat nicer? Or does typing feel better? Thanks for your answers.

    • @manofinterests
      @manofinterests  4 года назад +1

      Hi Matze! Usually the main point of silencing the board is to make it quieter, or to change the sound profile to one that might be more preferred. How they feel can be a bit subjective, for example I used Deskeys silencing rings in this video which comes in 4 different thicknesses. Each of these thicknesses changes how much dampening in the sound there is, but the typing feel due to the reduced travel.
      In my personal case, I chose a thickness that is the best compromise of losing some travel versus having a pleasant sound. Also I like modding my HHKB in general. It's pretty relaxing when you aren't dealing with the 10 million screws.
      Hope this helped!

      @@manofinterests Hi there. Thanks a lot for your response. Makes sense! In my personal case I will go for the of the box sound of the classic model (I will order it as soon as it is available in germany). As far as I can tell from watching some "HHKB sound youtube films" I'd rather love the "loud" sound. ( I am writing with a Das Keyboard MX Blues for many years)

    Awesome and very helpful video! As soon as my Deskeys rings arrive I'll be installing them and swapping BKE ultralights for lights while I'm at it. Do you have any tips for getting the domes to stick to the PCB? I found that BKEs fall off really easily. I was wondering if a tiny dab of thick lube under each one could help.

  • @alexbakolias333
    @alexbakolias333 5 лет назад

    Nisho is absolutely beautiful,you should swap with a 104uk spacebar so it looks more uniform though.And your HHKB was 55g in the past was it not?

    • @keikenhate

      Bke lights are more noisy than stock. I put deskeys #4 to hhkb pro 2 with bke lights and it was noisy. Went back to stock domes and the #4 are perfect and more silent than type s.

    Topre is expensive, but it's wonderful IMO. I love the thock sound and how professional those boards look (except the RGB models). If i had money, i would take an HHKB, since the UNIX layout would be very useful for me (i use VIM as editor, and i even tried a Sun Type 6)

    • @datvu6

      Topre isnt expensive if you put them next to other custom keyboards. And for OEM keyboards, Topre has the top tier switch
