I love this story! As a woman approaching 70, with my father approaching 100, I find it hard to imagine Miss Strangeworth as an "old lady". My small New England village had a poison pen lady when I was little. The recipients all suddenly had a flash of insight when they realized that their houses were all visible to one house-bound old lady.

I had the remembered bad taste in my mouth of Dolores Jane Umbridge listening about Miss Strangeworth. Masquerading under the guise of a "concerned good samaritan" is something truly wicked who takes pride in causing the suffering of others.

You are a wonderful narrator! I listen by myself often, but would also play stories for patients in my psych hospital. It's good to have a calm, clear voice without startling noises or real gore like many newer creepypastas. Even though these are horror stories, the older setting makes it "safe" to listen for most patients. I would guess because most don't take place currently, the whole culture of the story is different enough to easily seperate from real life (even for minds prone to exactly that issue!).
Sorry for the long comment, I just wanted to say that even if you don't realize it, you're doing good in the world. I bet there are a lot of scenarios you'd never think of where your narrations are really helpful, and people really look forward to them. That's aside from just helping me relax at the end of the day, to clear my mind of all the human intensity I work with and just listen- again, probably like a lot of others.
So thank you for all the work, and especially for all the classics.

I appreciate hearing this, cole Marie. This is the first time I've heard that that one of my narrations was played in a psych hospital. There are a few gory stories on the Fiction Fantastique Channel, but fantasy, thriller fiction and psychological horror comprises most of the entertainment here. Sometimes escapist literature can throw a soothing light on some harsh realities. Thank you for the good that YOU are doing in the world. E.E.F.

It obviously doesn't say who sent the letter, but probably Mr Crane, since that was who the letter was addressed to. The note was to let her know that someone destroyed the roses that everyone knew she took great pride in. She cried because she was sad over someone doing something so horrible to her, but not understanding that it was her own fault.

She destroyed so many lives, so they destroyed her roses. She thought she was justified in passing judgement against others and telling them lies.
