..that was the best video on an old Mercedes l have ever seen ( and l have watched alot ) . Thanks so much for turning the radio off after you turned it on and big thankyou for winding up the windows ( at much discomfort to yourself) so we could here the amazing sounds it makes .
Great Video. My German uncle had the 66 220 version. I loved that car. He let me drive it back in the day. On the autobahn it was just pure pleasure. I have had many newer Mercs since but nothing has the class of the fantail. He moved onto a 280SE which was stunning too.
In 2010 when I was an 18 year old student, I was visiting my home city for the winter break. I flew over there so I didn't have my car with me. A friend of the family inexplicably offered to lend me his perfectly restored 66 230S. It was dark red with a cream interior. It was manual (as most cars in South Africa are). It was a really special experience. The owner later told me he was really struggling to sell it and hoped I would crash it so he could claim the insurance. R.I.P Vernon, thanks that month with the Merc brother.

When I got my driving license my father had two of them, so I drove one nearly every day. Loved the car.
