- If you always wanted to know the difference between the $20 Spyderco Cara Cara 2, the $150 Para Military 2 and $70 Endura 4 this comparison review should help clear it up. I go over ergonomics, construction, blade steel and more. If you think the Spyderco Byrd line of knives is too cheap for you, please lend me some money. Maybe $5. If you would like to purchase any of these knives, do so with the links below to support the channel. Or don't.

Sorry to hear about the loss. Take care of yourself and your family. We'll still be here after you've gotten everything sorted.
Not to be dramatic, but that opening hole is like someone is shitting in my eyes
Chocolate necklaces are all the rage these days
Yep, eye shits fur sure.
KnifeTex nope!!!
It is actually better than than a plain hole if you happen to be wearing winter gloves.
Or like killing all the kids at the Jedi training school.
I'm a simple man, I see a Advanced Knife Bro video I click....
Ok I also only ask this
I could’ve waited for you even longer. You’re worth it. 👍🏻👍🏻🙏🏼
My man!
Sorry for your loss. Take all the time you need. Will be waiting patiently for return.
Thanks man!
Sorry about your parent, but great video as always. You have my condolences.
I picked up the half serrated version by mistake and kinda glad I did. Being a beater knife it really introduced me to the joys of serrations. The finger choil is good
Great blade for a 1st responder! As someone with over 20 spydercos, amongst other microtec and benchmade, I don’t want to lose $80-$200 knives while running, falling, dealing with chaos. I can beat it to hell without a second thought.
I send my condolences on the loss of your father or mother. I found that there is a negative rebound effect, in which you stoically deal with the situation up front, then feel like you're moving on nicely, then the emotion swings around and hits you hard.
Good luck and godspeed sir.
Yeah I don’t think it’s hit me yet. Life has been so busy lately to concentrate.
"It's hard for me to praise a 20$ knife , it's like a step child"
That made my day bro!
Take care
As a step child myself- I can comment on this!
I'm sorry for the recent loss in your life. I very much appreciate and admire the efforts you put forth to write, produce, edit and finish these videos. Cheers to you, sir.
Hang in there AKB. I hope the best parts of him will always be a part of you. Great video as always.
Happy to have ya back Bro!
So sorry AKB. I lost my dad a few years back.
Great review, as always. Missed you but working through your older vids (even flashlights, though they're not my thing. Yet.)
Love ya work man! Still laughing about 'The Stranger' gag. Vintage AKB.
I think I’ve used it. Sometimes I don’t realize I’m recycling my own (or other peoples) jokes until it’s too late.
Sorry for the loss AKB....Your videos are some of best out there. No joke.
Sorry to hear about your loss. Love your channel. All the best mate!
Sorry for your loss
I' m really sorry for your loss.
Your review is , from my point of view, very precise. Specially when you describe the " skeletonized" liners!
I live in Argentina, where almost all of us are poor, and every year, getting poorer.
I work in maintenance and I' ve been carrying my Cara Cara 2, for the last six or seven years. I think is a good minimalistic working knife. I agree with your ideas about "professional knives flickers".
The quality of your video, the light, your shop is outstanding! Cheers!
Glad you're feeling back man
Sorry for your loss, take your time and do what needs to be done. I know what it’s like after losing my mom last December and losing my father way back in 95....fortunately life goes on even for 45 year old orphans. Take care 👍
My dad lost his mother when he was a teenager- so it was definitely harder on him than me. Its tough man, but we get through it- right?
Nice review man, glad to see you back on the ol' youtubes
Yeah, everybody’s heard about the Byrd 🎶🎶 😁
I’m sorry to hear about your loss. Heart felt condolences. Take care, we’ll all be patiently waiting for your return.
That’s some fancy singing boy! Thanks!
Sorry for your loss man, great video as always! Keep it up!
So sorry for your loss, man. Your videos crack me up, and I've purchased a couple knives based solely on your reviews. We aren't going anywhere. You do you, and we'll be here when you get back.
My condolences. You do a great job man. Glad to have you back
Sorry for your loss, bro!
Sorry about your loss, my father is in the final stage of terminal cancer and I’m going through it myself. Hold onto your loved ones and hobbies to keep you busy. I buried my mother in 2012 and then I was redeployed to Afghanistan so it’s all I had and it got me through. I’ll prey for you and your family. Thanks for the video
My dad had been battling different forms of cancer for the last 17 years... some successfully and this last bout- well not. My dad and I had a good relationship- so no regrets. Hopefully you have the same man- wishing you well.
I lost my mom to lung cancer in december. Life is crazy man. Stay safe out there!
Great to see you back bro.
Do what you need to do, Bro. Fortunately there are tons of your reviews for all of us to re-watch to pass the time, especially the battoning ones. Godspeed...
I need to do a batoning compilation
Oh man sorry for your loss Bro. It's never easy. My best to you and yours.
Sorry to hear about your parent. Glad you make these videos. Great work for sure.
Sorry for your loss man!
Take your time and come back stronger and sharper.
Thank you!
Ur voice and presentation in my opinion is one of the best seeing as I frequent all of the most known reviewers... Good job sir.
Been missing your videos. Sorry for your loss. Glad you are back!
Sorry to hear about your loss my friend. All the best to you and your family.
Thanks man!
Hey man sorry to hear about the family stuff, the video was great.
Welcome back, King Bro.
I retained none of the information because I was laughing my ass off😂
Glad you liked it!
My condolences man, sorry for your loss
Sorry to hear of your loss, take your time
The Byrd was the first knife I ever bought myself (I broke the blade in a tree) I have a zdp endura know, and I love it.
Those ZDPs are nice
Sorry for your loss bro. Great video!
I sometimes switch out my endura for my Byrd cara cara 2 when I visit my section 8 bros, so I can blend in with the indigenous population.
Thanks for the video, your quite the resilient bro.
Section 8 bros. HES COOL MAN- ITS THE BYRD LINE.
Sorry for your loss Bro. My Dad passed away not long ago so I know what you are going through. Hang in there.
Thanks man... sucks doesn’t it?
So sorry for your loss. Great video, as always! Not an easy accomplishment, concidering.
I had most of it done before, so it was just editing and half a voiceover. Otherwise it might not have been till mid March. Thanks man!
Have you heard about the Byrd? Well-a everybody’s heard about the Byrd.
So they make the handles for the Byrd very blocky and square instead of rounded like the Delica and Endura. I assume it's to intentionally make it look and feel cheap and uncomfortable so people will think there is value in paying $75 for a plastic Spyderco. Yea... the Delica and Endura are insanely overpriced. This knife still proves it, and it seems like that's what they wanted to avoid. The difference in steel and slight build quality increase doesn't add $50.
I think this is exactly right!
I’m sorry for your loss. Take your time. I’ll still be here to watch your videos when you’re ready
Take care bro, we’ll be here when you get back.
It’ll be soon!
Hey welcome back bro, awesome as always
Thanks man!
I so wish you where my neighbor cause you always put a smile on my face and I am sorry for your loss. Keep on flippin bro
I just bought this knife ($25 today Feb 2022 vs $20 from 4 years ago) and THEN decided to watch reviews. I am not sure if I still would have bought it or not, as I am not a knife guy but figured I should have one. I also learned from watching this that I am a poor person. Fair enough!
It was a joke!
@@AdvancedKnifeBro I know! I should have added smileys to indicate that I knew. Sorry about that. My wife and I jokingly (sarcastically and even ironically, definitely facetiously) refer to ourselves and sometimes others as "poor" as a joke all the time, and it rarely applies or makes sense.
Great channel. I just subbed.
A few people over the years have really gotten upset about that joke. I’m an adult who is the product of welfare as a kid.
Best knife reviewer...ever
I truly feel sorry for your loss. Take care Advanced Knife Bro.
Will do!
I bought this knife to keep on my boat with the intention of using it to cut rope or fend off pirates. Although as I get to be more smug in my knife choices I'm starting to worry about if the pirates show up rocking S35VN machetes.
Too bad they didn’t have super steels when people actually used to fight with blades. They had no idea what they were missing!
The standard VG10 of the Endura isn't that much better than the 8cr13MoV of the Cara-Cara2. I've got Endura's in ZDP189, HAP40, V-Toku2 and soon (February hopefully) a Massdrop Super-Gold version. However, I use my Cara-Cara2 much more often. A few swift draws down the edge of the fine Lansky (Turnbox) rods and it's good to go for another few days (dependant on usage obviously).
You make great videos with a good sense of humour. Please accept condolences from am appreciative viewer.
The Byrd was my first pocket knife. It's purpose was for EDC. I wanted a decent cheap knife for several reasons. 1. To see if EDC'ing a knife was something I'd like. 2 for the overall experience 3. To find out things I liked and didn't like so I know for a more expensive purpose next time. It served its purpose but left much to be desired. Now where do I go from here? 🤔 I doubt you still follow this post but on the off chance you do..... any suggestions for a second knife in the 100ish or lower price range?
Did you end up getting more knives?
Sorry for your loss. Thank you for finding the time for this. Hang in there...
Will do, thanks!
Will watch all your videos three times because of your soulful voice.
I like the sound of this!
I'm just now catching up on videos - I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I might be late, but I would still like to send over my most sincere condolences and sympathies.
Thank you man, and welcome to the channel!
Deepest condolences to your family. Great review as always.
Thanks Ben!
Hahahahahaha
1) skeletonized liner means it’s made from human bones
2) it’s hard to praise it - like a stepchild
U have me rofl and it’s not even 5am where I’m at!!!
Keep up the awesome work bro!!!
And I’m still reeling from how fast uve grown in the last few months - it’s like I left ur channel on 3k subs a few years ago and now I’m back and ur channel is No longer the stepchild o_o
It’s been hard work! As a stepchild I know about item number first hand!
We'll stick with you mate. May you take the time to heal and do what you need to. And thanks for your honesty about the Cara Cara. I no longer feel tempted to buy it.
Good! Thanks man and save some money.
Sorry for your loss!! I lost my mom about 8 months ago from breasts cancer!!! My Condolences
Sorry to hear man... thanks, I appreciate it.
Who hasn’t heard of the Byrd. I was under the impression that everyone had heard that the Byrd was the word.
Good review.
But I am always amazed about the comments of the Byrd Line. We compare the Cara Cara, the Meadowlark etc.
But hardly anyone talks about the Spyderco Tenacious (8Cr13MoV) copy with the Byrd Raven 2 (CTS-BD1)..
I will take the Raven 2 every time. I guess there are gems in any line.
The Raven 2 is a nice looking knife however there's a tradeoff in cutting edge over the Tenacious. Plus the Raven is a touch heavier. Some people want that better steel though.
I think you'll appreciate this Advanced knife brother, I carried an endura for 14 years, a fully serrated one. I loved it, it was the only knife I had at the time. I lost it. Like no chance of finding it lost. Remembered the name spyderco, looked it up, found it and remembered how I paid 90 bucks 14 15 years ago and then realize there such thing as the Byrd Cara Cara 2 so I bought one. I carry it a lot I even got the rescue Cara Cara version so I can have my serrated knife like I used to have but it's just not the same. I find myself alternating between the Cara Cara 2 and my land 9103 but I also have a lot of trouble bucking up the 90 bucks for a new fully serrated Endura which I still dearly miss. One day.
Nice!
Sorry for your loss bro
Thanks man! It's been nearly a year now- man time flies. Enduras have gotten crazy expensive. Wish they were about 50.
Have the cara cara in G10 - hangs on a hook with a paracord lanyard next to the recycle bin in the garage for cutting down amazon boxes. Damn that prime! Not really an edc knife but in g10 it feels good in hand and serves that purpose of being exactly where I need a bigger blade for an exact task.
Great video for a guy who just lost a parent. Sorry to hear it Broham. I think the Byrd line is alright for the price. I've owned a few of them that are now in my wifes collection!
When I buy a new knife I put a few older blades out so she can chose one for her collection and sometimes I just buy her a new knife too.
Thanks again Sir and good luck with all you're dealing with right now.
My wife usually just asks for whatever I have in my pocket. I need to give her one.
the crow, raven and some of the starlings have CTS-BD1, but at for a 10ish more bones you can get the Alycone or Polestar if you want a rounder hole.
I forgot about the Polestar.
first. Also my Paramilitary 2 came with red loctite and i stripped the screws trying to adjust the pivot. Also sorry to hear about your loss. My condolences to you and your family.
DAMN U SAL!!!
@Advanced Knife Bro loved the video man, u hit the nail on the head I'm looking at this knife for the human skeletal inserts 😂😂😂 Nah but really I'm from Australia and we don't get Bugldget knives here lol Ur $20 Cara Cara 2 here is around $80 with some stores trying to rip $100 lol cheers!
Buy it, it's $weet. Perfectly functional and worthy.
The Byrd opening hole has one actual benefit over the trad Spydie-hole any know what that is? I know I know it
Hey Mr. Smith, since you have your hand raised... can you tell me what it's for?
Advanced Knife Bro Very glad someone cares, I'm sure it's meant to differentiate it from the real McCoy, make it look uglier even, so you'll buy the real thing. But in reality, in its beater role, it actually has some utility. U can use it to grip onto certain bolts, get leverage on old school square shaped augers for example. I even think it helps with deployment. Totally agree it's ugly tho. But u shld try it out -- multi-use survival sheeit
Sorry to hear about your loss man.
Sorry for your loss bro. Great review tho!!
I've never been a Syperdco fan, but I'm trying. I bought a smaller Byrd that I'll probably give to my wife. I guess I could drop $25 on a Cara Cara, then if I like it upgrade and give the other to my wife.
Sorry to hear about the family death. My dad died when I was 33, sucks for sure. Take care though.
Is that Dyson worth getting? I think I could actually geek out over vacuum cleaners.
Battery in this only lasts for 6 minutes on turbo. However... I keep it in the kitchen and charge it after use and can pick up messes quick. I paid about $100 for it a few years ago and I use it more than the big Dyson. It ain’t perfect but it really comes in handy and it’s strong enough to pick up most dirt.
Nice vid. Thanks AKB!
Not sure why but I though you might say the bird is the word as ice breaker , I can tell you gotten close lol , good video man
I've been told I'm a jerk, but I didn't let that stop me from liking your video. Another good review, thank you.
Thanks man! I’m a jerk too sometimes
Does the zip tie wave work well with this knife?
This guy gets it!!!!
I was waiting on that “Have you heard the Byrd is the word” pun!!!!!!
It needed to be there. It’s a requirement!
I have the same orange endura 4" I took and sanded the point off where your middle finger sets and not more hot spot 🥰 love the endura 4. Nice and light for its size and vg10 gets razor-sharp
I love my Endura, but I must say the byrd cara cara 2 had a MUCH nicer edge out of the box
Belt buckle knife
I own all three including the Byrd. I'm like you, don't like the Tony hawk looking hole. But functionally they are the same. But with honor I will wear the spyderco and enjoy the vg10 on an endura 4. The Byrd is for big 5. But again, same in functionality.
Bad ass video from a bad ass bro.
Take care man.
I bought the Ganzo knockoff because I had the Delica. I bought the meadowlark 2 because I bought the ganzo. Why I did that? I've got problems.
👍
4/13/19. Just got a Cara Cara 2....love it.
Sorry for your loss.
I’m sorry for your loss. Hang in there bro.
The blade looks nice and slice-y. It seems to be a nice fidget-er, too. I just ordered one haha I once was a disciplined knife hobbyist wanting folding gentleman's folders from all over the world, but have found fidgetting flipper knives is a little addictive. All that aside, I like the looks of the Cara Cara. Not too tactical and cool flipping action...and most likely not get me arrested with NY's gravity blade law. Nice review, AKB. It only cost me $20, not bad.
When I saw this video was up I instantly knew you'd make a surfin bird reference. This video is too fucking short, I'm left jonesing for more AKB
Hopefully more soon!
Advanced Knife Bro Heck yes brother!
So sorry for your loss man.
Thanks!
Q: What did Cinderella say when she got to the ball?
A: (hardcore gagging noise)
Take care, we will wait
I do love them all.
My man!
Hey moneybags. Review the Hawkbill next. Us sharecroppers need to see that now too
Always wanting more! I’ll look into getting one. I don’t mind cheap stuff.
And this is why we heart you.
"It's not a knife you can flick open quickly. I mean, you can but it ain't easy."
Neither is pimping.
Mate I’m sorry for your loss now let’s turn your triumph into a scrambler
I've owned a Cara Cara 2 for a year never had to sharpen it and is a great choice if you don't want to spend $150 on a spyderco
True dat
