  • You'll want to do this before you sell or get rid of your old electronics or your boat. If you have waypoints that you'd taken years to create, you probably don't want to just give them away. Or you have the units setup just the way that you want but don't feel like going through the trouble to do it over again, you should watch this as well. And don't forget to remove any map cards or memory cards in the unit too.
I'm replacing all of my Lowrance HDS Live units with the new Pro models. And I'm selling them to other fishermen and I'd prefer to keep my data. I'll show you the steps that I go through to clean the old units and transfer my data and settings to the new units. The same process will apply to other brands as well.
Remember: Do it right, do it once.

Outstanding and useful video. Most people would never think to do any of that. Great advice

Thank you. I have heard of too many stories where people didn't do that before they got rid of their old units. I've spent countless hours on the phone helping people with this problem. One even got lucky and had sold the unit to a friend, who was nice enough to allow him to make a copy of the waypoints that he needed for a tournament.
