Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 - June 25, 2009) was an American singer, songwriter, dancer, and philanthropist. Known as the "King of Pop", he is regarded as one of the most significant cultural figures of the 20th century. During his four-decade career, his contributions to music, dance, and fashion, along with his publicized personal life, made him a global figure in popular culture. Jackson influenced artists across many music genres. Through stage and video performances, he popularized complicated street dance moves such as the moonwalk, which he named, as well as the robot.
The eighth child of the Jackson family, Jackson made his public debut in 1964 with his older brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, and Marlon as a member of the Jackson 5 (later known as the Jacksons). Jackson began his solo career in 1971 while at Motown Records. He became a solo star with his 1979 album Off the Wall. His music videos, including those for "Beat It", "Billie Jean", and "Thriller" from his 1982 album Thriller, are credited with breaking racial barriers and transforming the medium into an art form and promotional tool. He helped propel the success of MTV and continued to innovate with the videos for his subsequent albums: Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991), HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I (1995), and Invincible (2001). Thriller became the best-selling album of all time, while Bad was the first album to produce five US Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles.
From the late 1980s, Jackson became a figure of controversy and speculation due to his changing appearance, relationships, behavior, and lifestyle. In 2009, while he was preparing for a series of comeback concerts, This Is It, Jackson died from an overdose of propofol administered by his personal physician, Conrad Murray, who was convicted in 2011 of involuntary manslaughter for his involvement in Jackson's death. His death triggered reactions around the world, creating unprecedented surges of internet traffic and a spike in sales of his music. Jackson's televised memorial service, held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, was estimated to have been viewed by more than 2.5 billion people.
Jackson is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with sales estimated around 500 million records worldwide. He had 13 Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles (fourth highest of any artist in the Hot 100 era) and was the first artist to have a top-ten single on the Billboard Hot 100 in five different decades. His honors include 15 Grammy Awards, six Brit Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and 39 Guinness World Records, including the "Most Successful Entertainer of All Time". Jackson's inductions include the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (twice), the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Dance Hall of Fame (making him the only recording artist to be inducted) and the Rhythm and Blues Music Hall of Fame.
Mister Lucky's Lounge (or Mr Lucky's Lounge) was a night club and music venue established in the 1960s, located at 1100 Grant St in Gary, Indiana.
Recognized by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Mister Lucky's Lounge is the venue where The Jackson Five first performed publicly in 1964. In his 1988 biography Moonwalk, Michael Jackson speaks at length about his first experience performing at Lucky's publicly in Gary, where the band had its first regular performances between five and seven nights per week. In the 2009 A&E series, The Jack5ons: A Family Dynasty, the remaining Jackson Five members returned to Gary Ind., including a stop at Mister Lucky's Lounge. - Развлечения
They should preserve that building since it has a history of pop music and Michael Jackson. That building should become a Historic Landmark. So nice. Love MJ music, lyrics and every thing related to him. I went to his last concert in London.
The Town don't have the money to fix things up many tore down buildings. I live close to Gary we drive by it once in awhile to go to a few places but we don't stop in the Town.
I know he later was pop but he started out Motown
I am honored to have been on this video with you Scott & Special Thank You to all the cool and interesting comments. Also,
Big shoutout to those who seen the video and joined my channel. SCOTT ON TAPE is the Pop Culture Icon of RUclips!
Proud to be a part of your journey into History Compadre!
Nobody pays attention to the fact that The Jackson's came out from Humble beginnings and have seen the same stuff that we all have
True byt still Gary,Indiana never came close to looking this bad when they lived there in this working community that had Inland Steele Mill’s that Joe worked for years ,Katherine briefly worked at Sear’s. They also worked at a Mall there, did performances at parties, and such, talent shows . Yes Mr. Lucky was apart of this and Joe had no business having these kids performing at this place ,late at night were naked women stripped, drunk men yelling mess at the girls,
Right its sad and it's also sad that nobody acknowledge the brothers and they only think that Michael was the only one and they are invisible
It wasn't just Michaels home it was rebbie Jackie Tito Jermaine Latoya Marlon and randy hometown
That building is a peice of History needs preserved 😮
I was just reading up on Mr. Lucky's lounge. They are going to preserve it as a. Landmark of the Jackson 5
Where it all begin for Michael & The Jackson's. Amazing. Thanks Scott for the video.

Hey there Scott….. good. Video- again. I love the filming location videos
Greatest of all time 😎
Awesome video about Michael Jackson 👍😎 I'm a huge Michael Jackson fan and I love Michael ❤️
Thank you for coming back
How sad that it looks like it does and its not a thriving place to be enjoyed anymore. Think how cool it would be if it was done up and could be filled with Jackson memorabilia etc. I always think about how those young boys were relentlessly made to perform by the father. ❤ to Scott & Storm.
Thanks for taking us alone Scott, this video was just AWESOME 😊

Thanks for sharing… I am heading there for the Jackson’s concert… hmm going to be a interesting trip for me
Who could have guessed that little kid would conquer the music industry and live such a bizarre life.
my first concert my mom took me to was the jackson 5.... and i was born.. augest 29 1958 same as michael jackson.....🎼🎵🎶🎵
Love MJ🙏
It’s nice to hear that there is some good in Gary still. It usually seems to be portrayed as lots of abandoned stuff and really dangerous, so I am glad there’s a good side too.
Been watching a lot of MJ videos again recently so looking forward from this one from you. cheers Scott.
Thank you, Scott for sharing this video 📹with me on Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5 were it all started on their singing career.
Hi from West Virginia, Scott . Thank you for yet another awesome video (any video that you do is awesome, but especially the ones about M.J ♥). I remember that horrible day that he died and where I was when it happened, I even remember who was around me at the time and what we were doing, my family and I were just sitting down at the dinner table to eat when it was announced on T.V. I cried like a baby and just quietly walked away from the dinning room and went to my room and stayed there and cried some more. Even though I didn't know M.J personally, it felt like I did and I had lost a family member... it was that tough to take. But thank you again for posting this and I hope that you, and everyone here, has a blessed day.
Good afternoon Scott 🙋🏽. I'M Loving IT. 👍🏽💕
I love this, and what a great feeling to be here and experience it!! I could visit every day and never get tired of it! Thanks Scott, thought I couldn't watch until later, but I think I made it under the wire ☺️
Thank you Flo! Can always count on you
I love your videos! You're such an empathetic person it seems
I grew up with a Jacksons, and they always had some fantastic music
