It would taste best if you use the oil(at least 1 TBSP you can put more) where you fried the chicken together with the crumbs(all of it) that falls from the fried chicken (just be sure that you don't cook on high heat or burn your chicken otherwise you gravy will taste bitter). Fried the freshly ground black pepper together with the all purpose flour(Don't put too much otherwise it will be very thick). The rest is the same as you mentioned. And YW!
He is just showing his version of how he makes the closest thing to KFC Gravy. If you don't like the his recipe than don't use it and move on with your life. I haven't tried it but even if it doesn't taste exactly like KFC Gravy, it sure does look like it would taste great. I don't know where all these internet thugs come from.
I used to work for KFC and they use the Fried chicken, batter crispy bits from the bottom of the oil pan from frying the chicken is all collected to make the gravy.
Hi Todd! Fellow Aussie here. I was just wondering what brand of stock cube you used here as I used Massel beef and chicken stock powder and the gravy came out tasting very mild and savoury, even with added seasoning. Could it be that Massel stock is made from all veg? Would love to know what you used so I can try again :)
hi! i discovered your channel a few weeks ago (via nicko's kitchen) and i loooooove your videos, it's simple and has perfect! your recipes are amazing! now with nicko i found 2 great chef's in australia! have a nice day! kisses from Belgium!
@@halilacikgoz7865 no because the pig lard was from the bacon. It gives the chicken a better flavor and has a higher smoke point. KFC is way different than a Kentucky Fried Chicken. KFC cuts corners for profit. Most people that were born in the late 80s to mid 90s don't know how good Kentucky Fried Chicken used to be.
Always the best part of any KFC (and I've always thought it must be really simple) so thank Todd - got to give this a try! Hope the tooth is starting to behave xx
If I may, this gravy is a basic gravy. The trick to making KFC gravy is to use the oil from the fryer, the seasoned flour used for breading and the chicken/beef broth combination. The flavor from the fryer oil and the flour add just enough seasoning and the broth provides a smooth consistency.
I made mashed potatoes and forgot I didn't have gravy and I just can't eat it plain so i tried this and it was so good! i substituted olive oil for vegetable oil though and it's still super good
thanks bro..cook this yesterday and it's taste good..e but i made a little adjustment so i add one cup of water cuz for us it's little bit salty and oil until i get the taste i want..again thanks a lot cuz it help me a lot to save more money..my kids love it..😘😘😘😘
I weigh my flour, so I had exactly 5 tbsp. The rue never got clumpy/thick like yours. Had to add some corn starch at the end. A touch of salt, and probly about a tsp of poultry seasoning because it was pretty bland...turned out pretty decent after that, although nothing like KFC. It's missing MSG or something.
Cook your flour mixture longer to make sure the raw flour is really cooked well. When doing a roux butter and flour Julia Child cooks just the butter and flour for like 3-4 mins. I hope this helps.
This recipe is nothing like the KFC gravy I'm used to. For "real" KFC gravy, look on RUclips for the 11 herbs and spice mixture (it was secret but has now been published all over). Make the spice mix with flour as described as if coating chicken. Take two tablespoons of the flour/spice mixture, pop in a small pan - add one tablespoon of butter and one of vegetable oil (better still, no butter and instead two tablespoons of the oil used to fry the chicken if you've made that), heat the flour oil mixture through for 5 to 10 mins to cook out the flour (making a roux) then start to add light chicken stock (home-made or made from a cube, doesn't really matter) and whisk through the roux. Keep adding stock and whisking until you have the gravy as thick or thin as you want it. If you have scraps from the bottom of the fryer, add those as they'll add a lot of flavour and texture. You can also add some of the 11 herbs and spice mixture without flour to boost the flavour to where you want it and some MSG. Simples.
Been watching 4 to 5 videos of yours feeling really amazed then came across this ! I hit the subscribe button there and then :D ! Great... no, AWESOME videos Todd ! Keep making 'em ;D
I tried this recipe the other night and used it on a roast lamb and roast veggies ,I used that powder stock and was really good I also used roast gravy granules for extra flavour I loved it so did my mum :)
One of my grandson's first job was with KFC and he came home from work on his first day and excitedly told his mother, "Mom, did you know KFC doesn't make gravy like you do, they use a mix."
This was perfect. I made the KFC bowls for me and my hubby. I didn't have beef broth so I just used chicken. And I seasoned it with vegeta. It turned out great! Thanks!

Fantastic! Thanks :)
IT LOOKS VERY GOOD!!!!

it's also tasty to use the left over oil from frying the chicken, then put the corn flour.

Shandy UK Perfectly true - KFC openly state they make gravy this way and long may it continue.

I used to watch your videos about 4-5 years ago and it's nice to be here again
I've stumbled across a few of your videos now, with a bit of colour grading these could be some of the best recipe vids on RUclips!

How much oil do you use for ( 5 ) tablespoons flour and what type of flour are you using ??? When done, how much does it yield ???
I'd use butter not oil
Jolindsay13 I did both and butter was spot on the olive oil had that olive oil aftertaste
*Jolindsay13* you can do that but it will not turn out right. We used Pig Lard when I was working for Kentucky Fried Chicken
@@jetcitysinatra7300 why? Isn't that weird?
I have had KFC gravy in Turkey and it said Helal.
Not available in Germany too bad.

Can I use wheat flour or corn flour instead of all-purpose flour?
Could you tell us the brand of the stock cubes?
I just made it.. We don't have KFC in my country, so I'll have to take your word for it and accept that's how KFC gravy tastes
I like it
You make it look so easy......

Hi Todd, you have small stock cubes. Our stock cubes are for 500 ml water/ cube. What are yours? My gravy was rather salty. I
