Lord of the Flies Music Video (Clint Mansell)

In 1954 Nobel Prize-winning author William Golding published his first novel. It was called 'Lord of the Flies' and it remains one of the most celebrated works of literature to this day. The novel was made into a film by Peter Brook in 1961. The film is very primitive and raw but very effective.
'Lord of the Flies' is the story of a group of British schoolboys who are stranded on a desert island somewhere in the Pacific. Things go well at first, with a boy named Ralph trying to prepare the group for a rescue that might never come. He is aided in his plight by an intelligent fat boy, nicknamed Piggy. However another boy, named Jack, grows jealous of Ralph's position and his leadership. Finally deciding to form his own group for boys who want to have a little fun. That's not all, though. There's also a growing fear for a beast whom the boys believe is roaming the island. Among them there's only one, Simon, who has an instinctive knowledge of the nature of this beast.
This video centers on, what I believe to be, the heart of the story. Simon's confrontation with the Lord of the Flies, symbolic of the evil in us all.
The music that I used in this video is 'The New Season', a track from Clint Mansell's soundtrack for 'Black Swan'. I picked this because I have the habit of listening to certain soundtracks when I read a book. 'Black Swan' was the one I was listening to while reading 'Lord of the Flies'. I believe it fits the dark nature of the material like a glove.
'Lord of the Flies' belongs to British Lion. The soundtrack to 'Black Swan' belongs to Clint Mansell.
