SHOW NOTES:
We are a better together family of 6 living in an 800sqft Shed to House Conversion and currently converting a 336sqft shed into a tiny house for our new studio! Oh yea, we are doing our best to build a sustainable homestead in central Texas raising pigs, chickens, and rabbits…. and hopefully more!!!!!
#familycow #buildingahomestead #chickens
No desire to compare, just a desire to connect! I LOVE THAT!!!
Yessssss!
I love that too. We're in Oklahoma. Such a good video!!!!
I came from Jesse’s Becky’s Lorraine’s, Bri’s and Meg’s channel. You sweet lady are the missing piece to the puzzle. It is a beautiful picture of real honesty, joy, love, vulnerability, hard work and the most enjoyable friendships and of course good food. 🤗
Thank you for the invite, can’t wait to get to know you and your family. Have a blessed day.
Oh Terry you are so so sweet! THANK YOU so much for joining us!!!!
Yes, oh the fooooood!!! 🤤
I love that you guys are friends “behind the scenes”. It proves that it is a community and not an online trend.
Amen!
We live in south east Texas. We bought 13.7 acres and we have started our homestead. We have 17 chickens and 6 pigs. We are starting a small garden. We are slowly moving to be self sufficient. I have watched you guys since the beginning. I’m a member of your Facebook page. I All so watch roots and refuge, Bri from scratch I’m so glad they are working through things. The Hollar homestead, sow the land and Justin Rhodes. You all have inspired me to do better and to be better. Thank you for your videos and inspiration.
This is AWESOME Tony!!!!! We have got to figure out a way to create a Texas homesteading event for sure!!
Way to go on your chickens and pigs! What breed are you raising?
Thanks a bunch!!!
@@BetterTogetherLifecount me in if you do! Middle East Texas here! Older girl but lots of yrs doing this. Kelly…great video!
Deal!!! Let’s make that happen!!
No joke, Kelly and I have been talking about it for a long time and just need to find a way to make it happen.
I am also in what I call southeast Texas....not way down south, but not in the middle either lol Watched all these channels for years. Been at what we are doing for the last 35 years. Beef cows, chickens, pigs sometimes, dairy goats, quail, gardening and canning.
@@BroqueCowgirlHomestead I just subscribed! Can’t wait to watch about these caterpillars!
As a fellow Texas gardener…I hear you! We need more Texas gardening/homesteading community! Especially to get us through those hot, crunchy, grasshopper filled summer months that seem to never end. I’m a new follower and have loved seeing your homesteading journey. Thanks for bringing us along!❤🌱❤🌱
Yes we do! I’m so glad you’re here! We are just outside of Austin and feel that crunchy summer biting at our heels even now! Thanks for being here, Michelle !
North Texas girl attempting to garden here! The struggle is real!!!
Yessss! South Texas here outside of San Antonio.
Yay NEW TEXAS FRIENDS!!!!!
Yay MORE NEW TEXAS FRIENDS!!!!! 😁😁😁
I’m here from both Hollar Homestead & Roots and Refuge. What a lovely sweet video!!
Thanks for coming! I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Susan!
@@BetterTogetherLife I loved the love and support and you all banding together!
I think it is great that the homestead ladies all got together for talk, chores, and fun!! You ladies deserve some fun time together. God bless y'all and keep growing!!!
It was an absolute treasure!
I watch all you ladies and actually cried 🤣🤣. Community is so important. And while I have a beautiful church family, I am the only homesteader I know personally. I’m the only large family mama with 9 in tow in my community of ladies. You guys are so blessed to have each other!!! What a beautiful thing to witness. Plus…. How brave are you!!!!!!!! For traveling and leaving kids behind. I’ve always been envious of my brave friends who do what needs to be done and say “bye bye kiddos see you soon” I could really could
Learn a thing or two 😅
Courtney your words are so so true!! Being a homesteader can be lonely for sure. Even us here have a decent homeschool community with several of our families having chickens and gardens and cattle.
But we can still feel like the “crazy ones”! Haha.
And as for leaving the family at home for a trip, it’s not always easy. It needs good communication, defined boundaries, and for the right timing. Which is why we didn’t have a trip like this for the last two years due to little Georgia.
But Beau was able to do a trial run for a couple of nights in the fall, which allowed us to take this big trip!!!
But yes, it’s not at all easy!
Happy for all you ladies having a friendship so strong and safe! ❤
Thank you Samantha!!!!!
I was so sure this homestead honey summit was going to be sacrosanct from cameras, but I am ever grateful for getting a glimpse into the Lovely life.
I’m so glad that I could share it with you!
Oh my goodness, yes! My thoughts exactly ❤ I’d love to be apart of this friend group!
I'm so very grateful for everything I have learned on RUclips and so excited to add your channel to my list of internet friends!! Thank you Jess for introducing us to another one of your lovely friends!!!
April you are soooooo right!!! Even with all of its flaws, RUclips is the best tool out there for learning. Not really sure if the traditional education system can compete anymore. Haha.
And yes yes yes! Thank you Jess for bringing even more friends together!!!!! 😁😁♥️♥️♥️
This is what community, family, but most of all, what LOVE looks like.
Love this!!! Thank you McCormicks!!!
Being a prepper doesn't mean your fearful. Maybe for some, but that's not every prepper.
The foods I've prepped are freeze dried.
There's nothing wrong with being a prepper, but there are many who put "all preppers" into the same category.
I don't care if you dont call yourself a prepper, but y'all are preppers. Y'all are Working your land and preserving foods to guarantee that your family is taken care of. That is the main reason why preppers do what they do. We want to take care of our families and be independent of having to rely on the big G! We might not be homesteaders, but we have skills. Some of us are gardeners, herbalists, foragers, trackers, hunters, trappers, many are ex military, some are in the medical field etc. Etc. Never think because we are "titled" as a "prepper", that we are crazy, fearful, and unstable worrywarts.
Many are believers and followers of Jesus Christ.
Beautiful video and lovely friends.....God Bless
I hear you! Thanks for taking time to share this! You are so so right!!
People will tell you who they are if you listen.
🙋🏽♀️ I found you through Jessica's channel. It is so great you all have each other, despite living across the country!
I have only recently found my people, genuine Christian, homeschooling, homesteading families that want to do life together. That's an amazing blessing to have a group like you all do!
Oh! I know that WIN! I’m so glad you have finding your people as a part of your story. What a mercy 🥰
This is probably one of my favorite videos ever!!! All my favorite ladies in one video ❤❤❤❤

I don’t know how I’ve missed you but so glad I found you with the group of awesome ladies homesteading and contributing so much to family and survival. I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for being here and taking time to comment !
Loved the video. So much fun and joy watching you girls celebrate.

This video appeared on my suggested list and I follow all the other ladies for years now, where have you been???? I am SO GLAD to have found you!!!!!
I found Meg just after Buggy started walking and getting her hands in the dirt.
Cindy Ings Newfoundland, Canada
Haha, well I am so glad that you found us also!!!! I guess we are just hidden a bit down here in Texas. Haha.
THANK YOU for giving us a chance!!! We love new friends! This has been such a fun video to meet a lot of new people.
How is Canada? Ready for summer??
Lover of the land I love that song!!!!
Yay!!!!!
I will never forget this exact video as long as I live. When I come up with words I will finish my fond thoughts on this.
WOW, THANK YOU SO SO MUCH for your amazing words!! Thank you!!!!
Found you from this video that popped up… so enjoyed “binge watching” tonight as I am awake for some strange reason! I am 73 years old in Tucson Arizona. I have kept laying hens since 2008. Attempt to grow a small garden mostly in the winter. Our summers are brutal. I actually HATE living in Arizona! But, my husband likes the desert! We are debt free. Living on his pension plus Social Security. My daughter lives in Eagle Colorado, my son lives in Hartville Missouri. I have 13 grandchildren. I love being able to live the “homestead life” on my 50’ x 100’ lot! May The Holy One of Israel watch over and give you a joyful life!
What a rich life, Heidi! That sounds lovely. I know what you mean about summers. We get some rough ones here too. Glad you’re here and that YT sent us your way!
Came here from Queensland Australia via Roots & Refuge after catching up from a 6 month RUclips break, can't believe I didn't follow you before now, I follow all your girlfriends! Got me some catching up to do!!
Oh wow, THANK YOU so so much!!!!! How is Australia this time of year?
Giving a wave from the UK. I saw your Bri leg of your tour on Bri's channel, because I've been watching Art and Bri for years. I found Jess several years back when looking for someone growing lots of Tomatoes outside under similar conditions to mine here in Yorkshire. I have Barry's Crazy Cherry in my garden every year because of her. Now, because these Ladies are your friends, RUclips recommended this video on my homepage. I really enjoyed your 'prepper' chat on your drive to Bri. I think it's easy to get consumed by the what ifs, and not live for now. And I am speaking from personal experience on that. Off to check out your other videos 😁
Oh wow, THANK YOU sooooo much!!!! You are too kind!
Ooooo, we need to grow those Barry’s Crazy Cherry tomatoes!!!!! Yum!
@@BetterTogetherLife As a general rule I am not a raw tomato fan, but the Crazy is our favourite, and I've found we all love them picked green and pickled. They are very versatile little bombs of flavour 😁
Oooooo, pickled!! Yum!!!!
Loved to see my fab 8 spend quality time together. Absolutely awesome
Thank you Leslie!!!! You’re AWESOME!!!
I found you through Jess. I'm in East Texas. So glad I found your channel.
Yay!!! It’s been so fun meeting so many new Texas friends from this video. It’s super awesome!
Thank you so much for watching and your kind words! So excited to chat with you here in the comments!! 😁😁
It's so funny seeing Jess as the guest on a video instead of the host LOL Looks like everyone had a great weekend together. I'm up in Canada not so patiently waiting for the weather to be warm enough for outdoor planting.
That’s a good take! You’re right. She is usually touring us all through her space and people. I was so delighted to have her in our little internet space 🥰. I hope you get sunshine on your face and your feet in the earth soon!!!
Hahaha, yup you are so right Amber!
Usually in a normal video we would have cut some of those longer talking sections out. But even for US it was fun to see Jess in that different way. So glad that it was fun to see for you as well.
THANK YOU Amber!!!!!!
Me too, waiting to plant in Ontario north of Brighton!
Another Texan here (in the NE corner) I'm SO glad Jess brought me to your channel. I just had a trip to Alabama with a few of my close friends to learn from Darryl Patton and a few other herbalist. Would love to see yall there too!! He has another conference in the fall this year. We also spent our time identifying every plant we seen. Can't wait to watch more of your channel. ❤- Your fellow Texan
Wow Chelsey that is so cool to learn about!!! That would be a blast!
It's Good to travel & see friends, but it's Great to get Back!
My Aunt had a needle point that said, "Travel East, Travel West, After ALL Home's the Best!'
"OH My Goodness, the Children have grown & flourished just like the Plants! That's what LOVE has got to do with IT !!
Thanks for sharing! I love that!!

I am new to your channel. I came from Jess' channel. Unfortunately, I only have an acre, but I plan on putting it to good use. I can only have chicken and ducks where I live. No larger farm animals are allowed. I plan on building a small greenhouse this fall. My garden is being redone and enlarged this year. I took a 5 year break after my mother died. It was something we did together. Now I am going to come back at it with a vengence. I will honor my ancestors from Appalachia who had big gardens to support their families. I am currently starting my up-potting of around 70 tomato plants, plus various other vegetables and herbs. I am in Ohio, and so very envious of those that can garden mostly year-round. I really like your channel. Glad to have found you.
I found y'all years ago while watching "The Great American Farm Tour." I don't get around to watching all of your videos anymore. I love your spirit and your face. I absolutely loved this video. The connection, the vlog, the motivation, and the inspiration. Thank you, Beautiful Lady. 💖💝💖
Oh thank you so much Brandi!!! Sweetest words ever!

Ginna you are so so right?!!!!
I’m from Texas. I came from Jess and Meg’s channel. I love how you describe things. Thank you.
I’m so glad you’re here! Thank you for joining us!!!
I’m here from Roots and Refuge. I live in east Texas. I think cool spring has officially entered and pre-summer is upon us. Even in the “drought” here last year everything was still lush and green. It just takes the moisture out of the air!
Yes! East Texas is wild! We were in Houston for years and could grow so many amazing things. Sub tropic might be so crazy humid, but boy is the fruit fantastic!
Those are some of my favorite ladies! I'm so glad I found this channel-- new Texan (moved from NC)! And new Subscriber!❤💗
Oh no way?!??? A new Texan FROM NC????
So what was the reason for the big move?
@BetterTogetherLife we are actually from Arkansas then have moved a bit because we are a military family (5 kids) so my husband was transferred to Ft Worth from NC and we are living south of the city doing what we can (garden, learning skills) until we have the freedom to live & homestead where we want.
I love this. I’m a big fan of Jess and Meg and I’m excited to start watching you now too!
Oh wow THANK YOU so so much!!! We are honored to even be thought of in this group regards to RUclipsrs and homesteaders.
These are all rockstar homesteaders!!!! And even better amazing humans!
This content is sooooo good. First time seeing this pair up. Need more of the two of you chatting❤
Oh thank you so so much Lisa!!! It’s funny, after this video we’ve been thinking, “how can we fly the ladies down to TEXAS?!???” 🤣🤣
I just loved watching this video. Thank you for sharing.
Wow THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!

Oh thank you Karen!!! You are amazing!
I don't know how I got here, but, glad I did. I follow all of the others pictured in your video - so, how did I miss this? Here now.
Oh yay!!!!! Well yes, we are so glad you found the video as well!!
THANK YOU!!!!! Would love to know more about you!!!!
We have moved to Franklin, KY from White House, TN (1/2 hour). It's so much more than that! We bought our first home(stead). The place is 2 years overgrown, but years of being neglected. We are cleaning up, planting a garden, trying to build a greenhouse from old resources. We are having a blast! We own 3 horses and 2 dogs. Come on by as Me, my husband and his mother, Lorraine, transform this place into a Crazy Life Homestead!! Loved this video...I'm on Justin Rhodes directory so have been hooking up with local homesteaders to make a new community of our own! Thank you for the advice!

I watch Roots and refuge, I'm encouraged to love what I grow threw Jesse's teaching. This led me to grow more Berry's and I never knew I'd love to grow flowers. My garden means so much more to me then it did in 2020 because of lady like you all. Truly a blessing ❣️❣️❣️
I feel the same way about my garden too! What a victory to have that for the last four years. Way to go!
I SO happy that I watch all of you I got a view from everyone from the party

Beautiful
I'm a long-time follower of Jess. Rebecca, Bri and Meg. I couldn't love and adore them more unless I got to spend time with them in person, so I'm very happy to have found you through the baby shower post that youtube offered. They got it right this time. You're adorable and I'm excited to see more from you and your loving family. I'm Holly from Central California with my own tiny garden, herb, flower and fruit tree growing adventure of about 300 plants which of many are potted or small planters due to hard pan soil on less than an acre parcel in the country but it is my happy place too!
Holly! It’s so good to meet you here! Thank you for taking time to say hello AND for watching. You’re right. They are just the best people! I love an herb garden. I’m trying to get mine established at the moment !
Aww! Thanx for the personal reply! Nice to meet you too! I've seen a couple more of your videos now and I love the chemistry between you and your other half/hubby, you guys are adorable! There are only a few herbs so far; lemon balm, lemon basil, chocolate mint, peppermint, sweet basil chamomile, purple basil and rosemary. Your garden makes me happy and a little jealous in a good way so thank you for the motivation. Also, I don't know why I didn't think of planting the mulberry trees years ago because I grew up with them and it was definitely one of my favorite snack spots! I guess I'll have a while to wait for them to produce but now I am definitely getting a couple for shade and snacks. Thanks again and so happy to have found you!!
Yes! The mulberries are now our favorite for both the fodder for our milk cow Goldie, AND THE BERRIES!!!!! Yum!
Thank you again Holly and excited to talk more!
Gotta love multi purpose nature! I can't have a cow for so many reasons including the as u, cuz they're amazing! But the raw milk! 😱 And all the so much more. We will def talk more! Love and joy to u and your beautiful "herd"! 💜🥰
It's always nice to get away, but there's nothing like the feeling of landing back home in South Texas!
I feel this!
I think one thing about this video is how often you 'think' on things yourself. I find with where I am in life, I cannot afford to stop and think. It's so beautiful that you can live in this world so fully because you're not consumed with worry or stress. That's not to say you don't have your stressors, but that you view life in such a whole way that you're able to think and feel and experience beyond it. I'm about 2 weeks away from sitting my university final exam, and it consumes my every waking thought. To be free of such a constraint that you can ponder the wider aspects of life - both your own and others - is such a beautiful gift!
That’s a really cool insight on this video. Thank you so much for sharing.
So special! Praise God that y all have each other! ❤️🙌🙏
I found you through Jess, and now I find myself binging you. I find myself being jealous of you being able to live the homesteading life on land. I currently live in an HOA and we are looking for land here in E TN. I am learning how to do what I can where I am and to store knowledge to have for when we do have land and animals. I was able to find a nice homesteading store 30 minutes away from me that has classes and where I am able to get raw milk. Thank you for your videos keep making them :)
I just subscribed to your channel for a new prospective. I'm in Utah on 1/2 acre in the city with a large garden,11 chickens and have been gardening most of my 64 yrs first as a child in Idaho on 2 acres where we had a small farm. In the 1990s I wanted to teach others to garden so i started a community garden in my yard but didn't think about videos. Anyway one day I'll be back in Idaho on that 2 acres which now seems to small for all i want to do. I love watching these channels. You all are living the life, teaching i always wanted to live and do. I have to say I envy you have all figured out how to make money from your teaching and thanks for all you, Jess and Rebecca do. I hope one day i can join you at a homestead meeting though I'm old enough to be your grandmother I'm raising my 4 yr old great granddaughter and hope to teach her a better life in the country but to my roots and hopefully find a like community in south east Idaho when i move.
We want all the grannies 🥰! A community garden! That’s amazing. I really do wish every person got the chance to grow something in the life time. It changes you! I’m so glad you’re here!
I agree with you guys 💯 about prepping our of fear, or prepping to thrive. That’s my goal! What a great get away with a fantastic group of women.
Love it!!! Thank you!
This was so fun to watch! I found you through Jess's channel. I live in town, in Southern Oregon. We have a pretty big lot (for town) and have a large garden (fenced against deer), a flock of 7 hens, 2 cats, and some fish, lol. I call it my mini urban homestead. 😂 My children are all grown and I have 11 grandchildren (most of whom live far away, sadly) . Life is good❤.
You ladies remind me of the Yaya Sisterhood 😂🎉❤
Live in northeast Ohio now, but grew up in east Texas. I’ve been following Jess for a couple of years, and adore her channels, learning so much, and just being blessed by her. I look forward to getting acquainted with you and your family and homestead! Blessings, Marie

❤ this video allowed me to have a good cry, one very needed good for the soul cry. On Monday I lost of my dearest friends, my person. As farmers/homesteaders we do spend a lot of time on farm, we work hard and pour into our community. Amy was my fellow kind hearted, God loving, friend. The one you. Share coffee with and the day slips by with laughter. Loosing her has really hit me heard, a part of my heart flew away with her. Thank you for reminding me that pouring into ourselves is needed also. Friendships where your heart pours out on your people through friendship.
Thank you! We are a fellow Texas homesteader, IPP breeder, and family living the simple life with God.
Oh, my. What a heavy loss. I’m so very sorry. Rich friendship take such risk and vulnerability and loss is a true grief. What a beautiful place she holds in your heart.

Hi. I'm in North Texas, near Dallas but I'm moving to East Texas very soon. Hello, fellow Texas homesteader!
Wahooo!!!! More Texas homesteader friends!!! Love it!!!!
You ladies have no idea how much your blessed to have each other, to have those beautiful ladies and call them your friends I would give everything I own to have a group of ladies in my life like you have I love everyone of those ladies and have been watching them all for a very long time and they all bless me Bri and I share a restoration story I’ve walked through my restoration and she’s just walking through hers but I will keep praying she gets it to the end, what a beautiful woman time you had thanks for sharing it
We are so grateful! And YOU are so encouraging. How wonderful!
What a beautiful priceless blessing you all have together.
It is such a treasure!
You ladies are my kind of people. I regularly watch most of the other ladies' channels. I was surprised to see that you all knew each other and were friends. It's crazy how many things I connect with y'all on. Especially the plant identification. My sister in law laughed at me and said it was one of her favorite moments on our Myrtle Beach vacation when she saw me with my phone out, identifying some beautiful flowers and talking to the them. I think she low key thought I was nuts. You girls would totally understand that. So I know I'm not alone. So glad y'all got to spend that time together. Having people who's souls connect like that is such a blessing. I have yet to find it, most people's eye glaze over when I talk about those things, but I at least have people who will entertain my ramblings most of the time. It's more than some have I suppose. You ladies are blessed.
Oh THANK YOU Elizabeth!!!! Yes! We are totally the same.
We want ALL THE PLANTS!!! 🤣🤣
@@BetterTogetherLife me too! I want to grow all the things. I can't pass up a seed display without grabbing something. I'm grateful for you and your friends for bringing inspiration and sharing your lives with people like me. It makes me feel connected even though we don't know each other. And it's nice to get fresh ideas for things. God bless.
Accurate! 😂
still love my spam! I can cook. I do know how to can, dehydrate and so on, my sardines and peanut butter are a wonderful addition to my pantry... I have no cow, I have no chickens HOA frowns on it. but I have a garden and a pantry full of food, Praise God!!!
You are doing great Cheryl!!! Most people don’t know how to cook!
So nice to see such a great friendship. Also nice to see you ladies relax a little bit.
We did and it was so lovely 🥰
Love this video! I have seen you on Jess’s channel and also saw your video pop up so I couldn’t wait to watch it! I am in North Texas and even though I don’t get to do my spring garden, I am avidly planning my fall garden. 😊
Oh yay that is awesome Tina!! So so glad meet more Texas gardeners!!! 😁😁
This was very wonderful. You all give us hope for the future. This was a breath of fresh air to know that younger generations might just turn this wayward ship around ❤
