i love the questions he asks to get people speaking in the language! its so cute
I recognized Lao immediately and I even knew the song she sang. My grandma speaks Lao and my aunt (her daughter in law, not bio daughter) speaks Thai. My grandma never enforced the language with her kids or with me as one of her grandchildren but at 15, I started learning the language all on my own and now (17) I can speak well with my grandma and aunt, though I can’t exactly hold a conversation yet. I can fluently read and write Thai though.
i would've loved to have this guy as a teacher. you can so clearly tell that he's passionate about languages and that makes for a fantastic teacher
Watching him guess is so wholesome and i love it! Bring him back PLEASE!!!
I already know he’s a phenomenal teacher 🔥
He is adorable. Oh my gosh, all of the wholesome.
❤
This is so wholesome. i love seeing people get so excited when he narrows it down.
Matthew is awesome! Please keep bringing him back!
This man is legendary, get him for more episodes
I just love that his love of music has given him so much knowledge of languages. These are so amazingly interesting!
Damn this guy is out of this world, he can spot so many little thing and hints... I can spot a little bit of what he share with us but it's hard !
I love every video with Matthew in it. Languages are so fascinating to me and he's just the coolest person I've ever seen.
gosh, I love it, bring him back more for the languages guessing
I want to see Matt's do this again so badly. I really want someone who speaks Welsh on here for him to try and guess.
There's something so beautiful and wholesome about this video
This needs to be an entire series you make.
I LOVE this guy especially since music has tutored him. Such joy!
i like when he determine indonesian and Malaysian bahasa using 8, as a person who born and raised in indo but studied 4 years in malay, i never thought about that lmao
This guy is chillest most down to earth guy ever. What a great guy!
❤
I love hearing shangahinese. I get so excited when I hear it cause it’s what my family and I speak
Matthew seems to know a few things about linguistics because he could distinguish a tonal language from another. Really fascinating!
I‘m a linguist myself and love learning about other languages.
I really enjoy watching/hearing how he gets from place to place in languages. It's so interesting!
That dude has only spoken Romanian to his Duolingo app
Matthew has such a good, wholesome energy. It's so cool to see his mind working.
This guy is unbelievable, so awesome. I can barely remember words to songs and this guy can pick out languages based on some songs he's heard. Awesome
I would loooove to see a Belarusian speaker in the lineup series! Our language is endangered and not many Belarusians speak it well unfortunately which is the fault of oppression and dictatorship. I hope one day my beautiful Belarus will be free ❤ Жыве Беларусь!
We love him! Bring him back! Make him a series! Something!!
"You're like an East Asian bumblebee" 🤣
"You did your homework."
"Eh, well, I assigned the homework."
Ugh! This is a re-post. I love the language videos, DO MORE! 😲
Dang it, I was hoping this was a new vid 😭 love watching Matthew analyze the languages and reacting like 😱😂
i'm always rooting for matthew
I listened to his playlist of languages and I found some music I absolutely love! Thank you Matthew for introducing me to so many new bands, especially No Party for Cao Dong, my most played of 2023!
5:48 this gentleman is the most East African looking man I have ever seen.
When he said Wenzhounese, lost my mind that anyone who isn’t Wenzhou knows about it.
I enjoy listening to music in other languages and he has definitely spent thousands of hours listening to music from every different region. Even though his main field is music, he has spent so much time exploring it that he could pass as a linguist
Bring Matthew back for more of these episodes! He’s a legend!
god hes so smart, its also so impressive seeing him
Always love seeing Matthew in Cut's videos 😃 please invite him more often
The romanian threw me off so hard, because I instinctively knew that it was a european language, but his accent was just so strange. Alot of central european languages sound like someone speaking English Gibberish. I was convinced he was speaking Dutch until he started counting.
If you know one Germanic language and one Latin based it becomes easy to tell who is from where in Europe
Matthew has my whole heart!!! More episodes with him please!!
