Bluebird's mish-mashed design makes sense to me, as it was a hurried fusion over mutual hate that they can barely hold together sometimes. We know fusions can change looks because of how Garnet looks when she first fuses vs when she's always a fusion, so Bluebird is just a kind of hurried mess that the gems didn't think over
Unlike Garnett whose gems are equally spaced and represented, bluebird's gems are smooshed together like a first grade art project. They don't blend, but they are still two parts of each other.
One thing I noticed about Bluebird is her accent. I’d wager Aquamarine, who has a stereotypical “posh” accent, adapted her way of speaking when fusing with a “lower class” of gem. Hence the stereotypical “lower class” cockney accent.
i think bluebird's speckled design makes perfect sense. think of baby garnet's patchiness! aquamarine and eyeball don't know each other well enough for their fusion to be comprehensive.
I think every ruby should have the same weapon, but it is weird how the ruby we all know and love has a glove and eyeball has (like you just said) a chisel. Btw if you want proof ruby has a glove watch keystone motel ;)
OutGalaxy I disagree. Bismuth mentioned it being rare for Amethyst to have developed a whip, but her reaction was not wholly surprised, but more impressed than anything. This, at least to me, implies that most gems manifest weapons for similar scenarios, but that they vary somewhat based on the personalities of the gems. I’d imagine that quartz soldiers develop weapons almost exclusively for close quarters combat, Jasper’s helmet would support this, but so would Rose’s shield (even though she’s not really a quartz, ykwim), and that other quartzes would make things like gauntlets, clubs, armor, etc. Amethyst is unique in the sense that she is a quartz who relies more on her agility and less direct attacks (due to being smaller), so she has a more versatile weapon for this approach. Rubies all seem to use simple weapons for close combat, so Ruby’s (the Crystal Gem Ruby) gauntlet is an easy and practical weapon for this, but Eyeball’s Chisel/knife also works for the same purpose, especially since she seems to be less protective than most rubies and more vengeful and murderous.
Headcanon: Bluebird comes back to The Temple to kill Steven. Just to find out that Steven left and isn’t coming back. Then, She goes back to Homeworld, questioning her life choices, and slowly forms a healthy relationship, and Accepts the change of Homeworld Society.
it's also worth mentioning that just like how aquamarine reflects lapis, eyeball reflects jasper. both aquamarine and lapis are blue gems from blue diamond's court with water wings and both eyeball and jasper are warm colored, tough, war-hardened and surly gems from pink's court. this reinforces the malachite connection :) another bluebird/malachite connection is how they both are shown to have ice powers and, debatably, four legs (though malachite has arm legs, her 'body' is centaur shaped and the arms are put where the horse legs would be)
It is funny how one is grasping for a higher status while the other is trying to keep it from slipping away. And Eyeball at least provided the basis for the ice scimitar with her chisel knife
@@hueyfreeman6262 are you really a fan of steven universe? I know it has its flaws, but you dont have to be an asshole about it. It was a pretty realistic depiction of mental health/ depression for a KIDS show.

Personally I think the weirdest things about Bluebird were that she had 4 legs and was basically the same size as both Eyeball and Aqua.. Now it's just my 2 cents, but the 4 legs might be another nod to Malachite, plus both Malachite and Bluebird were on two opposite sides of the height spectrum could be another nod. (Fusions are usually the exact height of all included gems stacked atop one another, Blue is much smaller and Mala is much bigger than they should've been if they were following this "rule")
I think it's cool or coincidencental how aquamarine (a high ranking gem) has a posh English accent and when she combines with ruby a low ranked gem they have a cockney accent to reflect this. Idk if it's this is right but I find it interesting
You know what they should have done for bluebird azurite plot wise? I’ll tell you. They should’ve battled Steven after attempting to attack Greg, with more green specks, and then Steven tells them how unstable they’re fusion is, and helps them acknowledge how much they hate fusing with each other for the sole purpose of hating Steven, but they get so upset over this because they think Steven is trying to trick them. So they gradually get more green specks until they are encased in a cocoon of green foamy crystals. After a minute they burst out of the cocoon as kind of a bluebird-malachite variant, of course this means they’re bigger and more monstrous. The entire squad of crystal gems try to take the fusion down, and barely win when aquamarine and eyeball suddenly unfuse because of their lack of cooperation, and while the two gems squabble and try to fuse again, it’s no use because of how incompatible they are and inevitably get taken down by the crystal gems. The crystal gems corner them and threaten to poof them, but soften when the two beg for mercy and promise to change, but then yells: “sike!” quickly flying away, threatening to “be back”
Bluebird has my favorite weapon and or attack in the entire series! That's about all the love it have for her though. Cute video and an even cuter doggo.
Well what you could say is that aquamarine had finally found my Dad , I love this fusion bluebird but I wish that she didn't just look like an off color aquamarine
Fun fact: Blue birds marks are supposed to look like corruption scars because if I remember correctly they were trying to trick Steven into thinking they were like all the other gems and was just healed.
I like her, especially her voice. The raspiness of eyeball's with the British accent of aquamarine is perfect, and the bowl cut is ugly, but I like the suit and tie.
One thing I noticed about fusions is that how the fusion looks and acts depends on the gems relationship and if they've ever fused before If the 2 gems dont get along the fusion If the fusion is new then it's often a mess.
Eyeball is also connected to Jasper in that they both chose to return to Earth to find closure for the trauma they experienced during the Rebellion. Jasper obviously had major issues of self-worth that she linked with being from the failed Earth colony, and Eyeball personally witnessed what she thought to be the death of a Diamond. They both saw their missions to Earth as a way to put an end to the war, finally beat Rose Quartz, and move on with their lives.
I don't get why so many people wanted her to come back or have closure. I think the great thing about Bluebird's episode is PRECISELY that not everyone gets closure, not everyone redeems themselves (the same for that Lapis that decides to keep terraforming). Some people just keep on being shitty forever, which is something that was always lacking in SU. Their final line sums it up perfectly. Aquamarine: "You may have gotten us this time! But we'll be out there." Eyeball: "Hating you!" And even Greg says it himself: "Everyone can change, but not everyone wants to"
That's the entire point, they tell you that oturight. Why would you expect a redemption or some closure for them when they literaly just told you that won't happen? Also, SU is kind of an epilogue to the series, so I don't get why anyone expected they'd spend more than one episode on secondary villains.
I think it's interesting how the individual powers of gems affect their fusion powers. Garnet has electric powers from Ruby's fire power and Sapphire Ice power. Bluebird has Freezing powers from Ruby's fire power and water powers.

I think blue bird's chop-shop design reflects the sloppiness and carelessness of the fusion its self. I can imagine some Wiley Coyote esc shorts involving them following Steven after he leaves and just keep getting caught out by each other or simple Earth things screwing them up. Likely leading to similar cartoony goofs for some 1 to 3 minute shorts. Hell even have Spinel pop in as a sort of Bugs Bunny esc interloper. I always liked the sort of Team Rocket esc feel for the two. Certainly a more comical and joke villain but one that could have a bunch of silly and fun gags to them. At least to me
Imagine if she had a pearl and they accidentally fuse now we have another rhodonite but now we know the backstory how they met unlike original rhodonite imagine that
I think that the fusion is red and blue mostly is because they only fused for hatred cross Gem fusion are base on exception and they did not the malicite forming is to symbolise them slightly accepting each other
Now that i think about it, it would be pretty neat if Aquamarines and Lapises played a similar role in the Gem heirarchy, just like how Rubies are sort of like smol Quartzes. Maybe the Gem creators originally created Aquamarine for terraforming, and the Lapis Lazuli gem was a refinement of that oeiginal power set? I dunno. To be honest, I never found it super clear what role Aquamarine and other beryls played in the heirarchy, and Ive always gotten super interested in that kind of worldbuilding. Do Beryls rank higher than Garnets, for example?

I can imagine some Wiley Coyote esc shorts involving them following Steven after he leaves and just keep getting caught out by each other or simple Earth things screwing them up. Likely leading to similar cartoony goofs for some 1 to 3 minute shorts. Hell even have Spinel pop in as a sort of Bugs Bunny esc interloper.
I always liked the sort of Team Rocket esc feel for the two. Certainly a more comical and joke villain but one that could have a bunch of silly and fun gags to them. At least to me
I would have loved to see more bluebird azurite tbh
NerdWire : *uhg what i wouldn't give to have someone leave that much fresh unwrapped charmin on my car*
Me:UNWRAPPED?
Imagine if she had a pearl and they accidentally fuse now we have another rhodonite but now we know the backstory how they met unlike original rhodonite imagine that
I really like bluebird azurite's voice , and her hypocritical personnality is very funny imo "aw if it isn't my fa-vo-rite trio!"
Even if rebecca sugar says that all plotholes in steven universe will be resolved by future, not all of the puzzle pieces can be fixed
I think that the fusion is red and blue mostly is because they only fused for hatred cross Gem fusion are base on exception and they did not the malicite forming is to symbolise them slightly accepting each other
I'm learning more about the real life jems than the rebecca sugar version
have done one about lars?
If u did can u do one about what if stevens mom was white? Blue? Or yellow
