Marty Robbins Streets Of Laredo Lyrics
[Verse 1]
As I walked out in the streets of Laredo
As I walked out in Laredo one day
I spied a young cowboy, wrapped all in white linen
Wrapped in white linen, as cold as the clay
[Chorus]
Oh, beat the drum slowly and play the fife lowly
Sing the Death March as you carry me along
Take me to the valley, there lay the sod o'er me
I'm a young cowboy and know I've done wrong
[Verse 2]
I see by your outfit that you are a cowboy
These words he did say as I boldly walked by
Come sit down beside me and hear my sad story
Got shot in the breast and I know I must die
[Verse 3]
Go fetch me some water, a cool cup of water
To cool my parched lips then the poor cowboy said
Before I returned, his spirit had left him
Had gone to his maker, the cowboy was dead
[Chorus]
Oh, beat the drum slowly and play the fife lowly
Sing the Death March as you carry me along
Take me to the valley, there lay the sod o'er me
I'm a young cowboy and know I've done wrong

Both great gentlemen, such a blessing from God to have the privilege of listening to these great singers. Thank You Father!
just sheer talent. You either have it or don't, and these two have it in spade fulls.
The world was blessed when these two men were born.
Charming ❤❤
Beautiful moment from the Johnny Cash Music Show! If reincarnation is a real thing, Marty and Johnny would have lived before in the Old West!
From the looks on Mart's face, I think he was surprised and awed by how low Johnny could go. This is one of my favorite videos on youtube.
One of my favorite songs ever and I'm a Rock & Roll guy.
Not many songs can evoke stories and pictures in ones mind like this absolute gem, nor do they get more beautiful and sadder at the same time and these two treasures just made it even greater than it was.
God Bless
And the same to you my friend
An the same to you my friend. I wish I knew you because you get it
Now that's entertainment by two legends!
Frank Maynard, an old cowboy wrote this lament. Originally titled, The Dying Cowboy in 1911. These two gentlemen sung this song as well as anyone. This is just fantastic.
Thanks for this information, much appreciated.
Cheers
I love this song. I am a Baby Boomer I grew up with all the tv westerns.
I think Marty Robbins is my favorite tenor (he could get right up there without sounding like a girl) and Johnny Cash my favorite bass- baritone. I can't believe more people have viewed this video, it's golden. How I miss these two men.
An incredible voice Marty did have
Marty's face when Johnny sang the chorus for the first time says it all about how good Johnny Cash was!!!!
They're both in awe of each other. Great song sung greatly.
The young cowboy made a mistake but, after listening to these gentlemen singing his story, he knows that all his faults were forgiven.
Two of the best ever.
WOW! What voices and harmony. Beautiful.
A beautiful rendition
Icons of country music 🎶 for sure. 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻♥️

Country filme sind auch super
Wow! Gentlemen! Classy!
Are you really gonna sing your part an octave lower?
*Johnny Cash in full bass*: Yes
Great song but It seems to be lip-synched
I love Johnny's music. but I prefer Marty's music more. I think Marty had the better voice and wrote the better songs. IMHO, Marty and Hank Sr are the two greatest country musicians of all time.
"I love Johnny's music. but I prefer Marty's music more. " more sugary
Johnny was a legend but Marty had exceptional range and tone.
The only thing disgusting is that airplane bullspit.
?
Brilliant but not as good as Fields of France.
Tex ritter did it best not these two drunks
