I like the old one more. I own a 2016 and it absolutely pulls. I’ve twin turbo’d it and fully remapped it. 0-100kph on 4.2 seconds. Faster than a Mercedes A45 AMG
That’s awesome! I have a 2013 VW model and I’m looking for mods, please do share the mod specs and which turbos did you get and what other things you had to change. I had the back seats removed for a year and installed a performance air filter from AEM and yes it does pull. Night pulls are insane, but I have just installed new brake discs yesterday ( previous ones I had been using since 2013 ) and new ones are extremely heavy so I’m thinking of modding it to get back some of the acceleration I used to get. Did you face any problems at all with it?
As modern as the new Touareg may be, the old one was definitely more luxurious; you can clearly tell there's quite a bit more cost-cutting with the new one
Sold my 2015 v8 tdi in 2019 for a v6S tdi and about to flick it and shop for an old V8 one again. The new platform is horrid as it’s aged…sensor faults continuous and intermittent. Been doing it for 2 years now and now it’s out of warranty the dealer doesn’t want to know…tho they will trade it for a new one. If they won’t stand by it out of warranty why the heck would I go again? My 2018 Passat bitdi wagon plagued with same sensor issues. Always loved vw (still have my ED30) but qaulity and components have taken a step back in the name of fashion. My brother that brought my v8 tdi won’t part with it and it’s been perfect so I’m off shopping to go backwards in years. They don’t build them like they used to is perfectly suited here
Your crazy mate! My TDI 2014 is tits. Added air struts and plenty goodies. Most important however is the quality and feel of the older Treg compared to the new cheap plastic light weight feel.
Good comparison on the interior, exterior, latest tech and a drive on the road. But how would that fair against the old one on the off road terrain? As far back as 2094 the 4.2L V8 was smashing almost every pure off road vehicles like the Cherokee and wranglers. Even the 4X4 RAM got toasted by the 2004 Touareg. No SUV came close. As It was called “over built and over engineered” back than. With the new DSG gearbox in this one vs the tiptronic on the 2015 and prior, be interesting to see how it holds up on the off road terrain.
I would absolutely relish taking any of them off-road to see how well they can cope. Unfortunately our budgets do not extend to such activities only the boys at Carwow and What Car have those privileges 😩
I have a 2011 touareg, I thought the point was it looked like a rough tough off roader, wish mine had the capabilities of the first one with the styling of the 2011 model, looking more car like doesn't do it for me sorry!
Why do you have this ugly disturbing "music", is it because you think people tuned in for it and not the car? This crappy music curtain messes up the whole video.

I bought a 2017, the last year they made the old body style... I'll be keeping it for a very long time :)
Been looking to buy one from this year, how's the reliability been?
I’ve just replaced my 2012 altitude for a 68 plate r line tech. What a car you won’t be disappointed in this new Touareg 👍👍
i'd still take the older VWs any time of the day

What engine you got? Please give us more details on the spec of the car and the additional mods
V6 or V8 ?
Just picked up a 2017 rline plus with 20000 on the clock from Vw approved used it’s a absolute peach, I much prefer it to the new shape.
Same here... the earlier Touareg had subtlety, style, and class. I'd take one of those--in fact it's what I own--over the new one any day.
Old but gold. The new one okay
1:25 more feminine? 😏 nope, it looks much more strong the old one 💎💪

I absolutely agree. Especially the plastic parts in interior look much superior and luxurious with the older one.
но это не точно
Absolutely...!!!
Hello, So.....it begs the question. This piece was meant to compare old with new yet no comment in that regard at the end of the clip whatsoever.
i love large SUVs such as the land cruiser and nissan patrol but my dad also owns a toureg and I just love the german engineering on it.
I drove 1 today, fell inlove straight away
Nice review. Watching from Kenya
Thanks for your comment

New Touareg is gorgeous.
Original Touareg was nicer than both of these models, IMO.

Both beautiful but i prefer the 2017 model R line
So do I. I find the grill on the newer one to look weird and embarrassing. I call the T3 "over-grilled" :)

Pretty good, but why the annoying background music?
Amazing video. Just what I wanted to see. Thanks
Which is better? 2018 base model of new one 220bhp or 2017 run out of old one 260bhp?
does the touareg stands at the end in comfort mode? (air suspension)
thanks!
Buy a 3 year old one and save £25K !!!!!!!
Agreed! Thanks for the comment
New one is worlds apart the old one is old and rough by comparison
Doesn't make any sense the old design has like 10+ years vs the new one... obviously the design is drastically different.

Great comparison
Thanks for the kind comment
I’m sure the older model’s wheels aren’t 18 inch?
Your Correct they are 20"
Sound Great keep it up.
Thanks we are trying!
All excellent, but those shoes and sport outfit????
A bit 1 sided just talking bout the new on not saying all it’s aww full faults
Just looks like Audi Q5 and q7
Чем лучше то? Чем старый

I have seen the Touareg, as SUV too small and pricey, good for EU market, not good for US market. Atlas is best option for North America market
Thanks for your comment
Yes...The good Cars for EU....crappy MQB Cars for Amerika...😁
Unless you want to tow and truly go off road. Touareg is true off road machine....atlas is just a fat mom wagon with bad lines.
