  • In this video I go through a simple DIY Oil change on a Triumph America. I am a former motorcycle instructor and a rider who loves bikes. I am not a mechanic. That said, you really don't need to be a mechanic to master many of the basic DIY skills that come along with owning a motorcycle.
I recommend fully synthetic AMSOIL motorcycle oil. I was a consumer before I became an Independent AMSOIL dealer, and I would not recommend anything that I don't fully believe in. For a limited time, contact me at FiveStarEngineOil.com and ask how to get a free AMSOIL preferred customer membership!
That said, there are a lot of opinions out there so you do you. The main rules I would keep in mind are these:
    1) Buy the best oil you can afford. Oil is the life blood of your bike.
    2) Always use MOTORCYCLE specific oil. It is specially designed for your motorcycle.
    3) Change your filter when you change your oil.
    4) Frequently check your oil (and other fluid) levels. Change them according to manufacturer recommendations.
If you are looking to protect your bike with some of the best oil in the market, please consider supporting the channel and check out my website at fivestarengineoil.com. My only sponsor on this channel is me.

Knowing how to change your own oil means you can save a lot of time and energy trying to get your bike into your local shop. It's one of the most critical maintenance items to keep up on to ensure that your bikes stays in great running condition, and I would argue that it is a bit therapeutic to do it yourself. I do eat my words a bit here related to a former comment I made in another video, but that said we are always learning and forming new opinions. I am definitely interested in hearing some of yours in the comments!
Remember that your owner's manual and service manual are the bibles for when it comes to how to service your bike. Ideally go by the book and consult your manual for the specified torque settings and use a torque wrench on your drain plug.

The views expressed in this video are based on my experience as a rider and a former motorcycle instructor. Please check with your local authority regarding the governing laws in your province or state.
RUclips videos are a great way to learn but keep in mind that they are no substitute for in person training from a qualified instructor. Ride safe and ride on!
