    It’s time for an updated video and tutorial on connecting OBS and Zoom. OBS has recently been updated to support a new virtual camera output feature. This feature makes it even easier to connect OBS with Zoom. This tutorial also includes a new method for working with virtual audio cables to connect OBS and Zoom. The video side is easy, and the audio side is a little more difficult. Let’s dig in.
    The diagram included in this video, is a complete connection diagram showing you how to connect audio and video between OBS and Zoom. Essentially, you are able to bring audio and video directly from Zoom and OBS with any Windows or Mac PC. The main difference between Windows and Mac computers is the type of Audio setup that you use.

    I have been using virtual cable about 6 months... On last weeks I having some troubles with the output.. The sound arrives in zoom with noises and pop in.. That's not my microphone because when I rec the video in obs is perfect, the audio gets bad when enter in zoom... I reinstalled everything, after one week the problem is back.. I'm truly thinking to change to vmix... What do you think?

    I have watched both videos and it appears there are setting steps missing in the video. For instance, in the audio settings for OBS, your video shows Destop Audio, Desktop Audio 2, LEader Board 2, and Media Source 2. Where did these get set up. My OBS, after following these instructions only has the two desktop audios. The previous video showed setting up Mic Aux and Mic Aux 2. I think I am actually more confused AFTER watching these videos than I am before I started...... I am getting audio thru the speaker, but my microphone is not picking up when I test it in Zoom. What am I missing

    For capturing Zoom video, I understand the use of this, and as you said, it's quite simple.
    For audio, I don't see what the point of all this is, as I achieve the same thing much more simply with:
    - In OBS, my Mic is an input, and Desktop Audio is an input.
    - In Zoom, my Mic is the input and my Speakers are the output.
    - So Zoom functions normally and fine.
    - And OBS records my mic via the Mic input, and records the Zoom audio output (when other people speak) via the Desktop Audio input. Add the display capture video, I get a complete recording of the meeting within OBS.
    Why go through all this trouble?

    • @evyordanov
      @evyordanov 3 года назад +2

      Same. Thanks, Steve! I thought it was just me going insane here listening to this overcomplicated setup. No idea why we should make it this hard.
      And if you want to monitor stuff, just plug in your headphones instead of your speakers, so people don't hear their own voices because of speaker/microphone feedback loop. And bam! That's all there is to it 🙂

      As an example, OBS can add filters to the mic e.g. Noise Suppression, Compressor, Gain and a Limiter.

    • @AreYouKenneth
      @AreYouKenneth 3 года назад +4

      Because you can use OBS Virtual Camera plugin to add any video (or even video layers over your video, place small squares with videos, images, desktop/app share, filters on your videos, switch scenes, or anything) as Zoom will receive anything OBS sends as a webcam input and it will be shown to everyone.
      The audio is similar (but harder to configure). OBS receives Zoom's output instead of going directly to the speakers, then your microphone or any audio source you choose can be injected into Zoom as a microphone input.
      You can even record your Zoom meeting in a variety of formats or stream your Zoom meeting to any other service like RUclips, Facebook, Twitch or any custom server of your choice.
      You can also add OBS plugins or any third-party piece of software that can do anything. You can do anything you want with whatever you send to or receive from Zoom or any other service.

    • @dyoolyoos
      @dyoolyoos 3 года назад +4

      I think this is more for if you want multiple audio sources broadcasted into Zoom. Some audio coming from the same computer may be muted in your mic (to avoid feedback). If just for mic, I just use your setup.

    4/5 could have been 5/5
    for an education video you just cant make mistakes like saying the audio is coming into OBS when actually it's coming into Zoom. We're already confused. You need to go over this and check these things. 4:48 "Click start virtual camera in OBS" is pointing at "Studio Mode" it may seem trivial, but that's exactly the sort of detail and education video needs in my opinon.
    It got me going thanks.

    Okay, I'm all in with this. I am now *SUBSCRIBED!* I ordered your book, _Unofficial Guide to OBS._ Now I have some questions.
    1. At 4:39 the slide shows that *Start Streaming* is highlighted. Is that relevant for what we are doing?
    2. At the same point in the video you say that we are going to start the virtual camera. The slide eludes that I should click the *Studio Mode* in the *Controls* panel. My zoom display switches to two displays, *Preview* and *Program.* Does this mean the _virtual camera_ has started?
    3. At 4:44 you direct us to go over to Zoom to select a camera. I find that I have *OBS Camera* and *OBS Virtual Camera.* One displays a gray display, the other displays an OBS symbol plus a camera icon at the bottom with a line through it, I suspect this is a result of my trying to get this working before seeing your video. Any advice? I suspect I can sort this out eventually. In any case, when I attach my camera to the computer the video shows up in zoom. So I think I've previously set that up but it's been so long ago that I don't remember how I did that.
    I think that's enough questions for now. Thanks for an interesting channel.

  • @paulgetchell
    @paulgetchell 4 года назад +2

    In lieu of using VoiceMeeter as a virtual splitter, I was able to do this through Windows in the Sound Control Panel (Recording). Select CABLE-A Output, and assign your headphones to "listen to this device".
    If you are using VoiceMeeter it appears that Cable-A is unnecessary. I was able to select VoiceMeeter as my monitoring device in OBS.
    Regardless of how you're splitting your audio, if you're using OBS in place of your own talking-head in Zoom (like Paul shows in this video), then you can select Cable-A Output as your Zoom microphone. On the other hand, if you're using Zoom Share-Screen to stream OBS, then your Zoom mic settings are irrelevant. Zoom Share-Screen audio will only listen to your default system output, and for whatever reason in my experience, could not be a virtual cable. However you still need to split the audio to locally monitor it.

      @paulgetchell 3 года назад

      I haven't really used any audio filters (though I probably should) but all of the volume controls within OBS work with this setup.
      Because this setup relies on the OBS "Monitoring Device" output, during a scene change, the audio is able to fade from one scene to another on a streaming channel, but not on the monitor, thus this setup gets a hard audio transition between scenes.

Another problem is that I have no return of their microphone too . Is there any way the Microphones won't come out on the return? That's only if you need to do recordings via OBS. Otherwise, some people are just using OBS as a way to send video into Zoom which is much easier to set up.

Is there a way for the OBS to send OBS Audio but my mic is directly in Zoom? I don't need to send the audio back from Zoom to OBS so I don't mind my voice is only in Zoom

    I partially solved the feedback problem with a noise cancellation programs like Krisp, NVIDIA RTX Voice, Noise Blocker or SoliCall Pro. I set my hardware microphone as the input and the hardware speaker (a TV connected through HDMI in my case) as the output in the software. Then went to OBS and placed the noise cancellation app input (Krisp or Nvidia RTX Microhone as per the software of your choice) and also the output as the Voice Meeter's hardware output (Krisp or Nvidia RTX Microphone as per the software of your choice).
    It's partially solved as this fixes the noise when it's too loud, but the echo remains and it becomes a very high pitch that only is stopped when it becomes too loud. I was unable to test SoliCall Pro is for enterprises and I was unable to test it.

    This is a great setup, and very similar to what I ended up with, my only difference is I use desktop->obs and desktop-zoom via virtual cables so that I don't have to use OBS monitoring, that way I don't have to worry about zoom audio going into OBS, then being fed back to Zoom. Also with Zoom in "dual monitor" mode even if you're screen sharing in zoom you get the zoom gallery view on the second monitor, which means you can capture the zoom window as well as the shared desktop (sharing it in zoom as well as a display capture in OBS means I don't feed the zoom camera etc back to zoom). If I have a set number of people in the gallery I'll capture each person from the window seperately in the scene, that way I have a lot more freedom with positioning them etc, but if a camera turns off, it does get messed up.
    I've also been using skype and teams a lot more with their NDI support, although the teams NDI is still pretty buggy. but getting each person and the screenshare as independent av feeds is a game changer for this stuff.
    One other thing I've noticed is you have to mess around with the audio drivers in voicemeeter between WDM/KS/WME for each device, as not all devices sound great through WDM (preferred for low latency) for example I can use WDM for Zoom, Yeti Mic, Desktop inputs, but I have to use WME for realtek headphones, WDM for bluetooth headphones, and KS for output to zoom and OBS . I def. get some latency introduced by banana, up to half a second at times, so I think I'm going to try your setup with obs monitor going back to zoom and see if that helps.
