Thanks for ladder answer.....good to hear yours is from Wheeliams as that's the Company we thought we would use! We are just back from 2nd road trip to Scotland over the last few weeks and agree tis a special place and to avoid Loch Lomond! PS. we live in Cumbria and there are some quiet top spots too to be found, as long as you keep away from anywhere shown on a tv show about the Lakes or a vlog 😂 🚐

That's great guys. I've been reading into the fire movement, (financial independence retire early) and what you said rings true with what I've read and what I'm experiencing. Really need to sort my end goal. Got my own company and 10 staff and doing over 60 hour weeks. Getting sick of it. Cheers, Kenny.

FIRE is a great set of principles, ideas and inspiration working towards independence. We have been thinking about it for 6 years, got our van last year and are downsizing next month ready to retire next year! Good luck on your journey.

A lot of those 60 hours will be to ensure you’ve got enough to pay the 10 workers. I went from a partnership with 12 staff to become a one man band. Never been happier. I’ve cut my cloth and do what I want when I want. Don’t have a lot of cash but that ain’t important. Using a combination of van travels and plane travels and living in Northumberland. Every day is in a holiday destination.

@craster_van_kippers great advice mate. I think growth is a problem that we all for some reason constantly seek. If I get more I can do more and if I do more I can get more. Then before you know it you’ve got so much overheads that you can’t slow down. That’s why I’m in the process of scaling my life right back, if I can get things down to a much lower level I can make less, work less and enjoy much more time doing what I want to do instead of working.

I know what you mean about travelling in the South, I live in the South East and taking the van even 50 miles to the coast can be a real mission depending on traffic, and crammed roads with angry frustrated people.
I agree with your outlook on life - the sooner the modern generations realise you can be happy with very few material things - and reduce the clutter in your life - suddenly life makes so much more sense. If that fails start journalling around your thoughts, and document why you make certain decisions - you might discover things about you, your thought process, and above all you might just live the best life you can create.
For got to add - I have found that having my T6 converted, is helpful in that I dont book other types of holiday any more, I enjoy the freedom, knowing where I sleep, and knowing what my hotel room is each night, is better than the uncertainty of travelling and staying in hotels.

Agree about Cornwall, once did a day trip with daughter from Midlands to St Ives to do the Dame Barbara Hepworth museum, and the Tate gallery, they were great but the town, coaches loads of tourists, crocs and tracksuit brigade.
Did go again different time of year, stayed at a hotel, coastal walking, the walks were good, but still crammed, even parking at hotel had to be booked.
So definitely not Devon or Cornwall.

Hi Chris, you mention Loch Lomond in the video. I have planned the first leg of my Scotland trip using the book and online maps you kindly sent. Should I forget about trying to stay overnight in the Loch Lomond area and push on up? Newby going full time next month in a 7m motorhome. Should be fun and games 😂🤔

    • @ChrisSloanes

For me personally id probably just drive past loch lomond as the guide says and try to find somewhere near Glencoe or Fort William. Loch Lomond looks gorgeous but theres not a lot there and its busy. Plus once you pass Loch Lomond thats when it properly begins and the scenery goes nuts.
