So basically security and Ai improvements. Nothing that makes the OS / Ui fun and interesting........
Yeah....
Updates for the past couple of years have been pretty meh.
So most probably it will be a boring update
It is fun already.
It's boring since Android 10
Yea at this point xda may as well have sold out to google
I came here for some actual Android 15 features but I am disappointed with all the AI fuss 💀
😂😂😂 it's more than Ai but Ai is Google theme
Look through the AOSP commit logs if you want to see what ships in Android 15.
I scroll straight past Google's AI search results. Every time.
Lol I disabled them day 1
But some queries its really useful. There are different use case scenarios.
Honestly as a student I find that extremely useful. I don't have to scroll around websites for an answer. Its just there summarised for me. And 97 percent of the time it's right
AI search results are the best
@@user-lz3zt8iq4ftotally agree. I realized that people are gonna hate, not for any logical reason but just because they can.
It's sad and worrying to see that AOSP is getting less and less of these features. More and more, these new "Android features" are "Pixel" features. I don't care about AI features, I don't, if I get a phone with them, the first thing I'll do is immediatly turn off as much of that stuff off. Once you take all of the AI and Pixel exclusive stuff off of the table, what's left? Not much. It's a basic release, with very few things added to Android and/or AOSP as a whole. As was Android 14. As was Android 13.
I think it's just a sign how mature Android is now. I honestly can't think any major missing feature on it. And I am totally with you on "AI", I will disable that feature as soon as it will start infecting my phone. Luckily my phone shouldn't get Android 15 update, so I think I will be fine.
I'd say maybe more stability but let's be real this is google. They're gonna fuck it up somehow. What I'd like to see is some more comprehensive OS level SD card support instead of leaving it to manufacturers 🤡it's external storage bro it's not that complicated. Or atleast it shouldn't be when you're making the worlds most popular OS.
@@kosztaz87 same here but I'm gonna get a new phone at some point I know it's inevitable... LG v60 user here
@@LindonSlaght V60?! I wasn't aware they made a lot more of these. I had a v20 for a while, it went to shit for various reasons but damn I loved that phone.
@@LindonSlaght I use a Sony Xperia, they still have headphone jack and SD card support even on their flagship devices. Check them out, I think they are the closest brand to what LG used to offer. Their pricing is insane though, you have to wait for Black Friday or some other deal, as out of the gate they are very overpriced.
In an era where we should start gaining more control on ourselves, we are ending up giving more control to the computer. Scary times ahead
Google hasn't done anything special for years. Except Material UI & Introducing some privacy settings in installments.
Android OS still lacks some basic features & improvements.
e.g
1) It doesn't need hardware resources like Desktop PC but OS Optimisation.
2) We have to install third party Apps or plugins for basic tasks e.g. Backing up & restoring all data in new Phone, view Real Time Network Speed, Shortcuts etc. There are some stocks app (like media player) they are not very useful even lacks basic features & settings.
3) We can't restrict third party apps to using network. This makes Privacy Permissions powerless.
In Oneplus and Xiaomi...you can remove internet acces from apps, even some system apps. I disabled internet access for google play services.
@@arkvsi8142 Can you block wifi for all BBK and Xiaomi spywares? I guess not. Lol...
No company has done anything “special” including Samsung. Phones are meant for texting, calling, browsing the web and using apps and some other things in between, not sure what you or others expect. People want “ fun and interesting” then go to Samsung even though it’s full of bloatware and has settings for settings and has too much junk just to do certain things.
@@pattycarljackson You didn't get the comment. These are basic needs. I don't know why this comment has triggered you? There is nothing permanent except 'Change'. It's the reason people have witnessed journey from landlines to smartphones.
Perfect timing! Literally looking for your videos yesterday. And after searching for your name on RUclips I just got decade old content. Forgot you were at XDA.
Will Gemini rewrite my browsing history?
Opera does that
trust? google? two opposite words 😅
Whats that old meme?
Google - we take and sell your data.
Apple - we pretend to not take and sell your data.
lol
@@Jack908r Both can be true. Tbh if google's gonna be shoving this AI crap down our throats I might be forced to degoogle cause I am SO not interested. However I do want a new phone. Thank god for adb and root.
@@Jack908r aint even just data, im so salty about how they randomly kill products. so many of them had potential... + they had a huge team of geniuses prior to layoffs. how is it such a mess
@@Jack908r a small correction, Google doesn't sell your data. They sell the fact that they have your data and can target specifically you for the needs/wants you have, because they have your data lol. What would be the point of selling the data?
More sophisticated spyware for google
The only thing I'm kinda excited for is edge to edge enforcement and that's it
My Pixel 4 with Android 13 also got Gemini!
Nah, it's Android 13.2
More like Android 12.3
samsung has has had private space through secure folder for a long time.
Indeed, Privace Space was inspired on Samsung's approach. It will be "universal" now
LG had the audio switched in notification shade before samsung but you don't hear people talking about that. Of course that's a small thing but there are more examples. All I'm tryna say is no one cares companies copy eachother all the time that's just business.
with the caveat that you have to be signed into your Samsung account to actually use it
my 7 year old lenovo k3 note had that, they are just reintroducing old stuff and saying as if they invented new shit.
Anyone know when the Gemini app will be available here in the UK? At the moment we have to use the web version.
Yeah, it's weird that the narrator is British and he's talking about things which aren't available in his country like they're available to everyone.
When GCHQ has its backdoor.
@@KrishTalksTech Weirdly enough, I summoned Assistant the other day and got a popup asking me to try Gemini. So now I have the app. It still doesn't appear in my Messages app though.
But Gemini can't do basic Assistant functions. I would much rather be able to set reminders, send a message, take a note than any of the AI stuff.
So when can we expect android 15 ? I’m guessing it will roll out at different times for different devices?
I have a pixel 8 pro.
with Pixel 9 release, or week or two before.
Thanks for you time bro ❤❤
Just call screen unknown callers. They usually hang up as soon as they know your using a Google screen service. Google sometimes intercepts my spam calls even before the phone rings and sends me a message that they blocked it.
If Android really wants to keep the ecosystem alive they should make those feature available to all android devices and not just pixel device only
Hello, is there a way to change the notification dot on a Pixel to display the number of unread messages instead?
Use a different launcher
Im in Android 13 well not update until Android 18 release because the are no any big updates for me
I can switch to Gemini on my android 13 now but I kose routines and real time translation if I do that
I switched back to google assistant from gemini... As an assistant gemini is not so far successful yet😐
Im not updating to A15........
Gemini is worst as of now. They replaced assistant to gemini on my s23 ultra and I can't even do simple tasks like set an alarm or add a reminder by voice command. Why do they have to keep making things worst by updates?
What a great way for google to worm his way into everything you do without them knowing it
meanwhile on my 128gb 8gb ram pixel 6 : ) ) ) ) ) they wont even let me customise my quick settings or oled theme let alone install an actual llm.........
The most basic feature color saturation and color correction are still not on android. So if you get a bad amoled screen with no vibrance your out of luck in countries that don't allow replacements. Or you root and loose warranty. No gaming features, built in controller mapping, no streamer mode to stream with your front cam on. No video input requirements so you basically dump your old tablet after a year or 2 and have no use for it unless you use a latency riddled capture card to use it as a monitor. Its not a big deal its the same deal.
Is in the UK yet
I have Google Gemini on my Samsung S24 Plus and I use it mostly everyday. Android 15 and AI is the futer
Idk if latest android is always better. They pretty much lock down the phones a tiny bit more with each update, making some tasks like flashing, rooting etc. much more difficult, if not impossible. Soon we will get Apple level of freedom.
I've been saying this for some time. Apple is becoming more -androidish- while droid is becoming more and more conservative. Still none of them are there but...
Is the Android 15 is make my Samsung Galaxy Tab S8, run more smoothly......
My LG v60 got Gemini few months ago my phone runs on Android 12 :)
I want any way to root honor 8s ksa-lx9 please
Gemini as default Assistant on Android right now:
"Hey Google, turn on the table light and then turn off the sofa light"
"Sorry, I can't interact with physical objects..."
But works fine when doing one task at a time:
"Hey Google, turn on the table light" works fine.
I’ll be glad when Google finally gets rid of the UI stutter on Android 14 with Android 15 which they have said they have a fix for it. Whilst I love the Pixel 8 Pro it often stutters a lot
while google during android 15, ops we cant resolve it, lets see you in android 16, keep the shit we created to your self in the mean time
Android version update isnt interesting because oem will put their own skin and features on it anyway and the feature that makes newer android version differemt than a previous one is already on those oem skin or lost because of the skin
So all those ok Google Assistant devices are for the land fill than!
lol they will be unless google issues an OTA. Which they probably won't because like most sane companies google likes money lol.
I never understood the need to churn out a new os every year on the dot. Just develop things and if they get piled up to the point that it warrants an overhaul or simply feels way too different than the current OS then release it as a new version. I mean AI and security updates are ok but..
Gemini, telling me the weather even better than assistant. lol
I would honestly just prefer better google calendar widgets, and get my podcast app back.
What's the phone being used in 0.55?
Looks like a fairphone 5 but I could be wrong
It's the Honor magic 6 pro
Come on Google, bring on notifications summary like iOS does! With plethora of notifications we get from countless apps it would be nice to decide to see not so important notifications in a schedule by us summary rather, then decide whether to read them or not.
My rosy XDA boy
Thanks for the video but I see nothing exciting about the A15 really
Better Instagram integration..No...
Fixing the UI/UX can't be harder than creating an AI. personally i don't wanna switch to iOS but there are always small glitches or bugs and lags with android phones which is annoying. And how hard is it to fix that ugly and unnecessary navigation bar.
They give you other gestures as well.
@@sudhakar7889what other gestures u r talking about?
@@ravitejakntscircle to search? I've been using the hell out that feature since it dropped. Super handy to translate text on the fly and other stuff
Which ugly and unnecessary navigation bar? I actually use the top bar every day and it’s very useful to me
@@zekiz774 i guess he is talking about the bottom bar that you use for navigation. Some apps are not optimised for that bar. So he might be complaining about it.
The new update is just AI nonsense, most of which would only be Pixel exclusive. They don't care about other Android phones.
Security upgrades sound good, as they should. Everything else is the same as it has been for the last five or six years-adding features that have been on Asian phone skins for millennia. And ofc AI AI .... all I want is a toilet paper with AI! So what's actually big thing in A15???
Who tf uses these ai features?
Brain-dead consumers, aka 90% of the population.
It doesn't really matter whether you trust any of these tech companies.... It has been listening to you and seeing what you're seeing since very long time whether you opt in or not. How do you think you see that ad on Instagram immediately after you discussed it...
Believe it or not, if you use non-spyware based OSes, ad-blockers, and sock accounts, the ads you'll see are mostly irrelevant. It's absolutely possible (even easy after you get used to it) to minimize surveillance. If you're too lazy to figure it out just say so instead of saying it "doesn't matter."
Google lately (over the last 8 years of so compared to eternity it's nothing) has shown complete lack of imagination
Private Space on your private phone/device in your private life! Something is wrong, isn't it?
Meanwhile the upcoming iPhone 16, we’ve got vertical stacked cameras again.
AI is useless so really no difference. I'm more excited for what hardware manufacturers do. For example remains to be seen but the Xperia 1 VI might have just dethroned the 15 Pro Max as having the best battery life. Or if it didn't, it's very close. I'm super pumped about that because most of what stops me from using my phone for photography other than photo quality (which the Xperia fixes, DUH) is battery life and the fact I can't just swap in a new one. If the phone genuinely has 10 hours screen on time with heavy usage then I'm saved. I care about battery swapping right up to the point where it lasts all day no matter what I do/takes literally half an hour to charge. Batteries are easy enough to replace. Just not so easy to wait 2 hours for them to charge in the case of my phone.
...would have preferred select copy and paste in google messages or at least smart select for android 15. Maybe get copy/paste from windows xp notepad and scrolling down first before moving into AI, just my thoughts. Its a shame the pixel fold at 1300 is fine for scrolling while the 8 pro at 800 is not. Id buy an update if they'd just fix it already.
Can’t wait till Siri get a brain 🧠
John Connor disapproves
as a student AI overview in chrome search is soooooo awesome, I LOVE IT ❤
And I still can't have Gemini play my yt music 😭 WTF googs.
PIXEL 7 GOT IT?
Me who stuck with android 13 pixel os
half the timeline was gemini
#TeamPixel
The first thing I'll be removing from my ROMs.
i have gimini on my phone andoid14
So 1-2 medium sized features & the rest are small tiny footnotes?…
Disappointing…
I love the AI generated search because I just don't stop there. If you are a real researcher then you probably reading more than just one article you want to hear from. Read different versions from different reparable sites. It's just that simple.
Still waiting for 14 😂
So AI will drain our battery very quickly :D
but.... can it fking help to set a simple alarm?.................................
my phone still hasn't got Android 14 I reckon it will receive Android 15 sometime in 2027 🤣
It is not a big deal AT ALL. 99% of it is GEMINI and it could (and should) be an app available for any OS.
Android 15, like Android 14, is a big piece of garbage, because it seems that the most capable programmers have been transferred to AI, while the worst quality of Android development remains! I have a google pixel 7 pro and when I switched from Android 13 to Android 14 and then to Android 15 beta, calls still drop. So what is the basis and what is called a telephone, you cannot talk normally! There are thousands of posts on google support forums about this problem from Australia to Africa to Canada and they can't solve this problem! At least give part of the code around the call to be copied from Android 13!
Maybe a big deal for Google but not the users.
You can say that again
I dont want green lines anymore
Come back to the comment in the future and Google Assistant will be axed from Google, as ai would replace it
Just you watch
Prices of phones are going to skyrocket so the phones can do AI stuff while offline.......when 99.99999999% of the time youll be online
The on device ai is the best consumers can hope for and youre complaining? The only that changes is that phones will need chips for it and thats already happing and better chips will be in New phones without ai aswell lol
12 ,13,14, was a big deal 😒
12 and 14, yes
LLMs are not AI! Stop bandwagoning!
Ok now you will teach Google what to call and not to call
@@aryanagrawal5329 LLMs are okay at pattern recognition with some statistical analysis, but they lack true understanding of the data they process. They can't reason logically, draw meaningful conclusions, or grasp the nuances of context and intent.
99% of the things that are marketed as AI are not really AI, but they are still components of it.
ML is not AI, OCR and OMR are not, and the list goes on...
But since they are techniques used for it, and are really the anablers of it, they are AI too.
Marketing is and always will be for average customer, and average customer sees all of those terms as balck magic, heck even us (devs and IT people) see them as black magic too.
Still on ui6. Before it was on ui5 for past 4 years. Didn't give a 2 flying cents about it. Still doesn't care.
Speaker on screen too much

Its definitely not a big deal. Its just an os update. Not a big deal at all.
