    OSHA requires you to wear boots that protect your feet during the install process.....2nd build use a drill to take out those rivets and since you have drill in hand.......its the paint that stops bolt going thru , well some of the improper fit... thanks for video sir...1 more thing Use oil on those holes please...it helps it cut extremely well

    Step bits are great for thinner metals. But not suited for thicker steel, like the spring hanger. Each step is not tall enough to give a straight clean hole.

    • @ThatCarVlogChannel
      @ThatCarVlogChannel  4 года назад +1

      Yea I noticed that, kinda had to fix the hole, wasn't bad tho. Ironic you should mention that bit, i needed it for some thin metal today but it seems to be missing. But thanks for the tip, always appreciated

    One of those $10 harbor freight hammers would have made that job a whole lot easier I believe

    • @ThatCarVlogChannel
      @ThatCarVlogChannel  2 года назад +1

      Probably alot of tools would have made it easier, but I can't complain too much about how it went using mostly what I already had on hand

    Nice video! At the 9:10 mark of this video, the shackle is above your frame. Did it drop below the frame once you put the tires on and everything? Did you have to cut the cross support of your bed any? I've only removed my bed so far, but it looks like the shackle is going to be too tall for my frame. I have a '79 stepside.

    • @ThatCarVlogChannel
      @ThatCarVlogChannel  3 года назад

      Thanks! It actually sits higher than the stock shackle. Raising the spring lowers the frame. I haven't tried fitting the bed yet, that probably won't happen for a long time, but I've seen in other videos that cutting a piece out of the bed cross support on each side above the shackle may be necessary.

      Thanks! Front is going to be 2 inches, should level the truck. That's still in slow progress. No other pics right now

    Shot in the dark, but anybody have pinion angle issues after doing a kit like this? I’ve done rear shackles and about to do the front leaf spring hanger

    I’m about to do a flip kit and was a bit scared to do it myself but after watching your video I think me and a friend could knock it out....quick question, how heavy was the bed ?

    • @ThatCarVlogChannel
      @ThatCarVlogChannel  4 года назад +3

      Just make sure to find this kit. I got it on ebay, MaxTrac. I believe a flip kit involves some frame cutting which I'm not comfortable with. This is just a lowering kit. I'm not sure on bed weight, but I lifted it by hand with 2 other guys.

    Great video I’m working on a 81 c10. I have a question… How many inches in total did you drop it from the back?

    • @ThatCarVlogChannel
      @ThatCarVlogChannel  2 года назад

      Thanks. This kit is supposed to give it a 4 inch drop in rear and 2 in front. Like an idiot I didn't think to measure ride height before starting, so I won't see how it truly looks until the bed is back on

  • @yamacrazy

    Do the new mounting points you installed interfere with the box? I notice they sit higher then the frame.

    • @ThatCarVlogChannel
      @ThatCarVlogChannel  3 года назад +1

      I'm not sure yet. The bed is still off, may not go back on for quite some time. I have seen videos for 90s Chevy trucks, and the lowering shackles do interfere with a cross brace that has to be cut to clear it, not sure about 70s trucks tho

    Google will give you the proper torque specs for the size and grade of the bolts you used.

  • @claytonhernandez9152
    @claytonhernandez9152 4 года назад +1

    Do you know by chance how many inches this dropped it? I’m thinking if I’m going to have to do this and the flip kit or if just this will be low enough

    • @ThatCarVlogChannel
      @ThatCarVlogChannel  4 года назад +1

      The kit I bought is supposed to drop it 4 in the rear and 2 in the front, which should also make it level. Of course I was dumb and didn't measure the ride height before doing the swap

  • @samb697

    Did you have to add shims on rear after that to keep vibrations down after 50mph

    • @ThatCarVlogChannel

      I haven't shimmed anything. And I still don't know how it drives, it's still out of commission
