You are spot on with the Love Boat bit at the beginning. As a kid when STNG came out, we Trekkies were just glad to have more Trek, but we couldn't help but compare it to the more bombastic original series. We all called it the Love Boat in Space, because it was just a primetime soap opera with spaceships and the occasional action scene to spice it up. LOL
Data was always one of my favorite characters. Even without emotions, he always made an effort to be polite, helpful and kind toward others. It wasn't a big shock that the occasional female crewmate might find herself attracted to those qualities. I think this story could've worked a little better if there was a more gradual build up to their relationship. The Jenna character suddenly appears in this episode and then we never see or hear from her again. Perhaps if she was shown interacting with Data in a handful of minor scenes from previous episodes, it might've helped to better establish their pre-existing friendship and maybe make the transition into this experiment with dating/romance feel more organic.
I like this idea. It's like how we saw Lt. Lefler for a couple of episodes before she dates Wesley in The Game (though it would have helped if Wesley was *also* in those episodes).
This is my 1st time watching your channel, but you're the only Trek reviewer who has put a smile on my face. On a more serious note, you pointed out some visual things I didn't know about since I have 0/0 vision.
I think the "You're very handsome" and then Data going back to work, it's basically him processing what Jenna said for one nanosecond, or still processing it asynchronously while then going back to work lol Efficient XD
Anyone notice that her backstory is a torpedo expert. Notably dealing with a torpedo stuck in a tube? She did give him a very passionate kiss in the torpedo Bay
A classical woodwind group. Data doesn't have his emotion chip so he can't love her back. The captain doesn't have a group where his tin whistle would fit in. That lieutenant was after Data, just like so many women are attracted to Spock. He probably found a decent looking Romulan student to mate with when his time comes up. I wonder which couple would have the longer injury list Worf and Jadzia or Spock and Chapel.
Same here. There are seven different versions of this video on my computer. I'm just glad I got this taken care of and everyone can enjoy my commentary.

What's crazy is we see O'Brien playing the cello at a pro level, then never again. Not even a cello once in the background on DS9. Maybe Keiko made Miles throw his cello out.
Not being able to use contractions makes no actual sense when you think about it. Words themselves include combinations of letters that form contractions inside of them or sound like them. I mean if Data can't say 'Im', then what about 'Dime'? Rhyme? Prime? What if the word 'I'm' was an alien word for tree..or if the D in 'Dime' was silent ...would he still be unable to say it? Being entirely unable to form contraction/related sounds means he's almost incapable of conversation Being capable means there's obvious workarounds for the entire issue and it goes away
I've always wondered about this. He is supposed to be highly advanced, but can not mimic the contractions. And it is not like he is newly off the assembly line, so has nothing to fall back on. I just assumed he chose not to, opposed to not ever being able to.
One hypothesis: Dr. Soong went out of his way to write a program preventing Data from using contractions as a results of the colonists being freaked out by Lore.
It is odd that the Federation is supposed to be utopia, and Starfleet composed of the very finest of the finest among them... yet so many of them have such obvious, serious psychological disorders. ...especially amongst the highest-ranking flag officers. But don't get me started on that...

Data’s burn of Jenna at the end. Just beautiful.
RUclips will never win, we will keep supporting this video as long as the sun burns hot babeeee!
"hi honey, i'm home" is a quotation Data can useas a set phrase without biolating the contraction rule.
same with "you're not my mother," he learned that by route, not individual choice of phrasing.
