So Chris is a robot, Meg is an undercover Russian spy, Brian or Stewie is a copy of the original, Peter has been many fake versions of himself from ice cream, an albino twin, a robot and so on. The only one I don't think who hasn't been replaced is Lois though I could of forgotten something.

They are actually used to train image detection AI. Some of the images don't have a predetermined correct answer but use an agregate of all human answers to figure out the correct one. Once an image detection AI can reliably solve one type of image detection they change it both so only humans can solve it but also to train AI in solving a new type of image detection problems.
It is why they involve stopsigns, traffic lights, crosswalks and cars. The self driving car ais needs a ton of image detection work before they can be used in reality.

And it's not even a smut story, but one involving Christian mythology (like the Beasts in the book of Revelations) and Daemonology.
The funny thing is that this isn't the first time they've shown that Chris is a robot. I remember there was a scene where he's in his bedroom or bathroom and Meg sees him putting his fake scalp and hair on or something like that. I can't remember what episode.

It's the visual identification that gets 'em. ;-) The theory is that automated programs (or robots) would have trouble telling different varieties of the same thing apart. So, you might have a crosswalk under a tree; or a crosswalk from 300 feet away; or a crosswalk in the middle of the night, illuminated by the full moon up above. Even though we can easily tell what a crosswalk looks like no matter the time of day or what's next to it, an automated program would have trouble identifying it with the many different levels of light and objects nearby or on top of it.
They probably will soon since our answers r probably used as data 4 them.

They intend to track mouse movement and selection speed. A bot can do this extremely efficiently, which a human likely won't.
