Opening joke about your grandfather was great mato. You have the only channel where I am always rolling on the floor, and laughing out loud. ;) game was pretty intense, i'm very glad alekhine decided to play the bishop sacrifice variation for the last move. Just shows he was a player who loved to put on a show.
Mato, you've become a regular and most enjoyable part of my evening routine... and I agree with Sean Chow: Check ... mate ... thanks for all of your excellent videos and commentary :)
Alekhine was a big fan of h2-h4 to support the Bishop on g5 instead of exchanging on e7 or moving the bishop off the d8-h4 diagonal. He suggested it against Lasker's Defence in the Queens Gambit Declined, and the Alekhine-Chatard variation in the French Defence is named after him. I only got to play h2-h4 once. in a species of Lasker Defence. My opponent looked shocked, and refused the pawn sacrifice. I won very quickly.
At 4:26, instead of psychological move, what if black played pawn to f5? at 2:43, 10... Ne8-d6 is the 'best move'. But three moves later, at 3:02 commentary says Nd6-e8 is the best move. Not very satisfactory.
@Mato, I love your 'just-kidding' moves, always rolling on the floor laughing out loud, btw, where do you have your income from? are you giving online chess lectures for free, there is crowfunding, didn't your grandfather tell you that??
Unfortunately, I'm too rubbish to use psychology. It usually works against me - when I have the material advantage and playing with weaker opponent, I sometimes lose my focus and blunder badly :(
+Skowi Jordan Hardest thing to do in chess, and life in my opinion, is to convert a winning position. Victory is often snatched away from us when we are closest to it.
+Freakland No, It's actually called "playing to the level of your opponent"; one can play a great game against a strong opponent, followed by a lousy effort against a weak one.
Not a lot of subtlety in this game, there was the sheer volume of information today. h4 was extremely obvious. Neither of these players would do very well today. Alekhine was known for bad habits of thought and health. Pretty basic beginner type game with not much going on in terms of position.

Great players seem to play so simple and easily ! Thank you Mato for giving us so much joy with chess!
I like how mato says check.......mate.....
+sean chow I like the deep initial voice "Hi"
Mato is batman confirmed xD

Brilliant....Thank you Mato !
Keep on the great work. You are awesome!

Mato, you have the best videos on youtube!
LOL Mato...."knight to f6, attacking the knight on d7" for a brief while I actually paid attention to that. You are the best Mato!!!
I really like your instructions, and your jokes. Thanks for posting this video
Got them all. Thanx for the AA games.

He felt like rolling on the floor, and laughing out loud. Hilarious!
great vids thanks mato
Mato please, i'd love do see more games in which black can comeback and finally win.
Congratulations for your channel, the best in chess world
You are the best and this game is really fantastic😋
Alekhine was the first to have deep combinaisons. Another great game !
simply the best!
thank you mato great game
amazing
Nice game! Mato, Nc3 its a good response to the french on these days?
Very Nice Game..
thanks Mato
At 1:19, wouldn't Bh6 sacrifice have also worked to white's advantage then?
You forgot to mention that it was fischer playing instead of alekhine
+-Fysix - HAHAHA
lol
Alekhine crashing Fischer of course
very nice game thanx mato
Instead of saying checkmate, you should start saying Check...mato.
well said :)))
At 3:54 wouldnt a reasonable defense be Bf6?
Then queen to h7 mate, supported by the light square bishop on d3.
3:52 -- My engine actually found a "sensible" defense against checkmate: _Toss the chessboard into the air and run out of the chess hall!!!_
At 4:26, instead of psychological move, what if black played pawn to f5?

Nice! Game to crush the French deer season!
I like when Mato say : " Attacking the knight on D7, Just Kidding anyway" LOL
4:32 Deep psychological move :D ..
If bishop was threatened by pawn the game would have been different. Alekain cleverly took advantage of the same.very nice game.
please mato analize the game of Bobotsov. M vs Tal in Bulgaria incredible queen sacrifice
i couldn't find the move this time. It was a hard one to notice. Good game :)
Well...good to see the French Exchange has some sting!
That would have been a great skewer at 4:45 if only the pawn on h4 didn't exist
ygg drasil Only if 😭😭
Hmmmm before h4 i was also thinking about Bh6. White was not ready to play it yet
Unfortunately, I'm too rubbish to use psychology. It usually works against me - when I have the material advantage and playing with weaker opponent, I sometimes lose my focus and blunder badly :(
+Skowi Jordan probably they weren't as weak as you thought :(
+Skowi Jordan

ahhahahahahhahahah Mato, this was brilliant) I had a hard time rolling on the floor and laughing out loud as well
I dont get it. Where is the psychological move?
Mato reminds me of nute gunray in star wars
How is your grandfather's healing now Mato ?
It's not April 1st mato >.
I thought of the move alekhine made but i was really early...
I want to see Alekhine vs Tal.
Who would win
Alekhine's gun next
After Qxh6, Black could play Bf6 preventing mate
3:51 What about Bf6? Looks like a sensible defense to me.
Bruyneel Qg7 mate
What would Confucius do? Most probably his move would be different from Laozi's one!
No sensible defense for white Queen g7? Bishop f6 maybe?!
Then queen to h7 mate, supported by the light square bishop on d3
Alekhine was only 18 years old here.
Mato is the Best indeed..!
Alekhine the Chess Machine!
great ending complete massacre
If King h8 take Bishop on h7, then Knight from h5 to f6. Attacking the Knight on d7. Lol😂😂
I got few ideas 😚
Lol at knight to f6 attacking the knight on d7
oh mato.
"Then knight f6 attacking the Knight on d7"Hahaha
...attacking the knight on d7, rotfl :D
mato, tell us more about your chain-smoking grandfather
First!
Gutkevich Gutka khata tha ;)
