- This is it ! the long awaited * Detailed Ownership Review of the BS6 TVS Apache RTR 200 4V with riding modes * is live on the channel after an extensive riding experience with the motorcycle. My use case has been
70% Touring and 30% commuting. So far I have done 2 long rides which are 1) 3,000 km Maharashtra to Tirupati Balaji &
2) 1,600 km Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to Goa.
During these long rides, the performance was phenomenal with cruising speeds of 95 - 110. Multiple breakfast and overnight rides follow next.
I still love the motorcycle despite it's flaws as it is still on of the most capable yet practical sub 250cc naked motorcycles in our INDIAN market.
But, it is now in dire need of extensive updates from TVS to make it competitive in the segment again .

My friend had this bike, initial bs4 carburettor version which he used for 50k kms. The things that I didn't like about it were lack of tractability in higher gears - low speeds, it always needed some revving to get going from a standstill otherwise it used to stall in 1st, 2nd and sometimes even in 3rd gear if not careful. Front brake had strong bite but no progressiveness, hence felt grabby. And there was no top end, absolutely no power above 100 kph. But the sharp handling, brilliant ride quality of KYB suspension, big fat midrange power, quick revving nature of the engine, instant throttle response, roaring exhaust note and the overall feel of riding a race derived machine were enough to neglect all it's minor cons. It was so quick to reach 100kph, without any effort. This is easily the most fun bike in that segment, apart from NS200. One other thing that I understood is that this bike does not need any pampering or special maintenance. It's engine is derived from the erstwhile ultra reliable TVS-Suzuki Fiero. My friend only ever did basic maintenance and the bike was super smooth even at 50k kms. That's the beauty of this machine IMO. All other bikes in that segment require special care, RTR200 does not. Also engine flush is not at all needed if you change oil at regular intervals, because engine oils already have some level of cleaning capability.

Indian companies should focus on quality rather than useless features
more features helps them to sell the product, whereas quality of a product is only reflected overtime, and companies are more focused on sales rather than getting loyal customers.
This is more evident when you look at how bad the after sales service is for most companies.
The biggest example of providing pointless features for sales, are all the Chinese smartphone brands like Oppo - Vivo, they provide all features like triple/ quad camera, portrait mode, 200mp camera, which are just gimmicks and these features are hardly utilised in our daily life, but the same features help companies to increase sales and attract more customers.

If you are saying in the case of Apache I don't think these are useless features in fact I use them often.
When I buy my first bike, I would go for rtr 200 over ns 200. I don't use high performance often,rather, I use these features on a daily basis.

guys if you are feeling low confidence in riding I'll tell you don't use tvs tyres use Michelin tyres you will get good riding mode
apart from that use liqui moly injection cleaner and system cleaner after every 10k
and imp part use shell petrol don't use others and use 10 w 40 liqui moly no heating issue no vibration

I too own a bs6 apache RTR 200 4v, owning it since February 2022, i didn't faced any of those problems which you faced, but my riding modes were not working for atleast 6 to 7 months i got it fixed it now. And i too agree with the engine noise though😂 pedestrians and other traffic can hear my bikes exhaust note what i hear is only the engine ramble.. moreover my fuel pump also got replaced after my very first service. Gladly warranty was there to save me..

i have got the 2016 Apache rtr 200, its been 7 years now and still performs beautifully, although i have covered only 38k kms. mine is a carbureted version which gives more power and torque than the bs6 version and also lighter than the bs6 version by 4kgs which is quite some weight. I use the tvs synthetic oil with timely servicing and never faced even a single issue till now. Headlight throw being halogen was not sufficient so i installed a good led and its working fine. Quality seems to be very good because even after offroading there is not even a single rattling noise. can tour comfortably at 80-100 on highways and it returns more than 42kmpl if the carburetor is tuned properly.

My march 2021 rtr 200 bs6 fuel pump also failed within 1 year, and it was replaced under warranty. I also had to change ignition coil under warranty. After that it has not given any trouble.
I got my bike in oct 2022 till now I've cloaked 33590km tappet adjusted at 32k km no major issue
I got chains sprocket around 28k km even though it is not making any noise I've changed it
Pls change chain guide bottom in Every 9k km it will increase chain life
And I have got issue with front Break ihave changed the Break caliper 3 times in warranty and break rotor also changed once
Front brake pads have improved on Ronin. 10k+ kms but still going strong, where as rear pads were replaced at 7k approximately

I own the BS6 april 2K22 version, negatives main except for display and engine noise at 20-30 on the 5th gear vaala part, no other issues whatsoever, and also false neutrals.
I tried Motul 10w40 and now the bike is like on viagra, no hold backs.
Only ONE major issues I have is the seat hardness during touring. Yet to try a seat gel/foam. Done almost 15K on this bike, highest 540 kms in a single ride. Ordered Lluvia saddle stay and top rack, will now make a big trip somewhere. Handle bar raisers ka bhi kuch karna padega, lets see...

Kudos to you for a comprehensive, insightful and outstanding commentary on the Apache 200 4V. Not many riders have your eye for detail. Whatever you told is absolutely my experience, engine noise, bekar sa blootooth feature jo har barbar manually connect karna padta hai., And display over brightness in night is so irritating.
You don't really need to flush engine oil unless the oil has started degrading or already degraded to sludge (because of age or extremely extended oil change intervals).
Still, if you want to "flush" out the old oil, from my experience we can use an oil with higher detergent content (eg. Shell or Diesel engine oils) with shorter change intervals.
Also none of the OEM manufacturers have "true" fully synthetic oil. Most of them are at most a blend (semi synthetic), which explains the shorter oil change duration. As far as I know, Motul 7100 is the only "true" synthetic oil made entirely of esters.

As a noob, I'd have no idea if I had your issue on 5th gear at 16k kms, I wouldn't even realise there is a problem as the sound didn't feel too problematic at all. so please make a video to educate us.
Mera 2004v .. 3 yeas me 40000 km chal chuka he but no big issue.. i am very happy and very stable.mailage is very good . Handeling is very good .

Mera 10 k ho gaya 160 4 v.... Ecu.. Rectifier battery kharap ho gaya... Wo sab change karna pada...ecu and rectifier warranty pe mila but battery khud kharida...engine abhi bhi thik Hai..

I have using Apache 200 for the last 6 years and I have only changed the air filter once and changed the fuel filter twice a year. clean the chain socket oil it regularly and use good engine oil. U don't require to do any other replacement as this video says. till drove KM are 41000 km.

I have the same bike clocked 40k so far I have lot of problems I have spent hefty money on service inception from front brakes , engine issue ,pick up issue , vibrations, poor service from authorised centres . But still bike is good if u do service from outside

Had battery issue recently, service centre said temperature sensor is damaged (replaced it under warranty), again had same issue (bike was not starting), replaced battery under warranty and the issue is gone.

28:10 Ye koi advantage ni hai. Meri fz 150 6500rpm pe 90kmph hold krti hai. 7k bahut zyada hota hai. Zyada se zyada 5.5k pe 100 chale to sahi hai.

I recently had an issue with the thermal sensor of my 160 4v. Mine has been 2 years old, but I put on a fight with people at service on why there's no warranty for the sensor.. Finally when i mentioned I will raise a complaint to higher authority they came back to me stating it will be covered under warranty. I suggest you guys not so simply accept their terms. Obviously they will try to scam you, Be aware of things.
There is a problem with TVS's engine heat temperature sensor but they should replace it free of cost under warranty

I have this bike one thing I agree with this bike have some issue with clutch and gear settings.
Sometime when I up shift from 1st gear to 2nd gear then sometime gear just gets stucks. And also when I am stands stills sometime the gear won't get down shift from 2nd to 1st gear.
This issue I am facing sometimes.
Overall bike is good.

Funnily mine is April 21 batch and even I had to replace my fuel pump within a year.
Problem with whole batch
Purchased Bike in 2021 September. Bike suddenly stops after 10-15 km running and doesn't start . I have to wait for 30 min to cool down and then it starts . Bike is not in warranty and i the service centre guy told the possible reason is the fuel pump .but it is costing around 12k . Does any one have proper idea of what the problem is and what can be done
Fuel pump is bad. It does not cost 12k but 5-6k max
Honda CB300F is best in 2 lakh price segment..
If u got student discount can avail it for 1,88,000 as i got the same
My bike cloaked 32k, front brake levers are sometimes getting stuck, free play of lever also got increased 😢
what is your view for true4 synthetic tvs and motul 7100 10w 40 is there any vast difference in vibration pickup engine sound ?
Motul is far superior in terms of refinement and top end performance.
tvs ronin issue are also same.
Even mine I've bought on April 2nd 2021. I never faced any issue except for side stand issue & clucth switch issue. I've clocked 32k kms by now.
Try pulsar 220's side stand. It works very well.

Hi, my bike sometimes automatically shuts off in idle, not sure why but I'm waiting on a signal, in neutral, engine at idle(1800 rpm), there's 9 seconds left for signal to be green and pop goes my bike, off..... just like that, have to give self again in order to start

i am also owning this bike since 2½yr, done 14250km. apart from its engine and chain noise no complaint. engine do lot of mechanical noise, changed cam shaft at 7000 km under warranty but still problem is same. intially sound from bike is bassy and pleasent to hear but after doing 80- 100 km ride, sound from engine changes drastically. it feels like engine is running dry. lot of mechanical and different sound.
since my purchase i am using motul chain lube or yamaha chain lube, changed chain guide also, do chain lube after every 300km but still problem is same.
chain noise is bearable but engine noise disappoint me always.
company fitted tyre was horrible on wet roads. currently using apollo trampler xr for both wheels.

I have Apache 160 4v.I done 108000 km.Aftet 75000 km don't use the tvs synthetic oil.That oil only for 3500 km.Not for 5000 km.
aapki bike me itani sari problem kyu he pata nahi but meri bike me aesa kuch nahi he bus aek hi problem ay thi vo bhi normal thi mene 2 sal me 35km chala di he but bike pehlese achi chal rahi he.
