    Seems like True Detective brought a lot of people to Black Mountain. I've been a huge fan for a long time. They are a great band!! It doesn't matter how you found them, just that you did. Check out more of their music. You won't be disappointed.

    According to BLACK MOUNTAIN, their influences are Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin, which is exactly the three top ones I would have guessed. You can absolutely hear all of those elements', plus their own creativity's, influence on the music.

    This is OG rock, if you don't get it, no big deal, you may have been raised on a different sound with a different vibe. But if you DO get it, man, isn't it just that much sweeter for the fact that musicians out there, be they few and uncelebrated, are carrying on that super8 sound, that 60's and 70's vibe, that bare feet in the grass mojo that made the era of origin so exciting to listen to.

    • @ashleyawbrey1200
      @ashleyawbrey1200 9 лет назад

      Im sorry, but what is OG rock??

    • @richardturner8312
      @richardturner8312 9 лет назад +2

      'Original Gangster' In this case meaning the music is very much in the spirit of the original sounds of the late 60's to mid 70's rock that is so evident in their influence...

    • @richardturner8312
      @richardturner8312 9 лет назад

      Where I come from OG is a way of pointing out the origins or someone who was at the origin...

    This is a great song about drug abuse on the east side in Vancouver, where the band is from. Stephen McBean, he lead singer, is heavily involved in drug-rehabilitation and counseling the homeless. The sign in the beginning of the video is the Balmoral - a crap hole of a bar in East Van.
    Black Mountain is pretty much the greatest band ever. If you like them, I suggest you check out Pink Mountain Tops, and Jerk With a Bomb - They're also McBean bands (Same singer)

    Tony is right one of the awesome songs when woodroughe is going somewhere and only plays for like 20 sec but what a grip man i dont know about the plt but this episode has given us some really awesome soundtracks, far distant solitude, homicide, cult murder, surging need of power and corruption, the broad landscape of USA, South west and its complexities... rage fot truth and sucide by the gun of ambition and dreams of utopia, also Frank his boiling ambition and cold kills. everything will seep in after you let it to, esp no need to compare it with rust c, am telling u what they are doing is next level because my friends uniquiness is that what we want do u want another rust c, i feel true detective is doing justice by brainstorming, though the script overall is a cheap thrill novel takeover, corrupt couty autocratic bureaucracy but the treatment, cinematography, location color tone and scheme soundtrack characters leaving their aroma later. not much dialogues. .. it suely needed editing to be wrapped up in 6 ep but still what we opted for orgasmic recreation never ending crime, the bubblegum way baby keep on chewing the twisted shit.
    Regards
    Shooter

    Nice surprise!
    Found myself back in the 60/70ies with elements of Led Zeppelin, Joan Baez, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Far East Family Band, Pink Floyd, 13th Floor Elevator, Moody Blues, Jefferson Airplane, Ten Years After, Neil Young, Mamas and Papas, Steamhammer and more.
    Such a band is a ray of hope, can alleviate some daily horror.
    Thanks lyndsaysung for posting this !!

    I discovered Black Mountain in a strange way: I made a painting that represents a black mountain. I have not studied painting techniques. Casually, having used acrylic paints for the sky and a whole pack of 75 milliliters of oil painting to make the mountain with a spatula, the end result was exceptionally good. I like to combine with each of my paintings a song, so I tried "Black Mountain", et voilà, I found _the_ "Black Mountain"... A powerful, engaging and emotionally alienating band, that also writes poetic, wonderful and evocative texts. Band like Black Mountain should be transmict by radio in loop, forever and ever and ever...😉🤨😑

    A RARE KIND OF MUSIC TO FIND IN THESE YEARS, VERY BEAUTIFUL , AND SIMILAR TO SOME PIECES OF THE EARLY THINGS OF THE PINK FLOYD ! FORTUNATELY THESE "BLACK MOUNTAIN" DO EXSIST ! UN TIPO DI MUSICA MOLTO RARA DA TROVARE IN QUESTI ANNI, MOLTO BELLA, E SIMILE AD ALCUNI PEZZI DELLE PRIME COSE DEI PINK FLOYD ! FORTUNATAMENTE QUESTI BLACK MOUNTAIN ESISTONO DAVVERO !

    That is partly true. But until sites like youtube came where people could share all the music, it was getting harder and harder to find good music that was pure. The corporations that own the music labels caused this void. They spoon fed us ear candy and told us to like it. It didn't work. So, I, and many others, became jaded. In the past 10 years, I have seen that the movement towards good music didn't die, it just went underground...reformed..renewed..and now its time..to ROCK!

I felt depressed but this music makes me wise up. As long I get to listen to good music, got a dry roof and dont have to go hungry, who am I to complain about something others would be glad about. Yes the world is crap but it could be worse and there is still beauty around like this music..

This music does sound familiar though - and moves along very nicely. I'm sure you know what I mean.

    From my neck of the woods...great potential, Mcbean sounds a bit like Vedder, Amber adds a fantastic thread...lyrically a bit immature yet, but coming along, same with musically, sounds like a teenaged Sabbath in spots/some Zep, some Airplane. Huge potential though, bought their first two, can't wait for the next.

    @sn4ke0i1 I am glad there are occasional challenges thrown down to the olders. I lived through 30 years of classic rock and grew burnt. Now I look forward and embrace. I do learn from youngers. I embrace what they tout. I sift through and call some my own. I am very selective. Could learn a few and teach a few. Rock on to all !
