In the early 90s I had youth coaches tell me never to do what he does ever......surprised these highlights exist from the NHL.

Well he didn't do too great in the NHL. Although I'm curious how it would work in today's NHL w/all these dance happy players. I don't think they even teach poke checks anymore. It's all about sliding around on your knees. But a lot of these plays would also be a tripping penalty on the goalie now.

I remember that Hobey Baker season.
When the Hockey gods made Stauber they combined a Pit Bull with a tank.

Awesome boards, guy is awesome too.
They tell goalies to stay in the net.
I learned in the 90s, so they would tell goalies to challenge. Some I challenged at the top of circles

I think he'd be a really good goalie if he knew when to challenge the skater.

Blue Line!!! He gave Kings fans a few heart attacks back in the day.. he'd be a mile away from the net and we'd be screaming at the T.V. then he'd come flying back to make a diving stop... Great memories...

MrScottyOE You took the words right out of my mouth. Definitely great memories as a young LA KINGS fan back then. Too bad the silly music was in there. Woulda been nice to hear bob miller yelling save by stauber. Can slightly hear a young jim fox commenting during one of the replays.

Goalies of today should play like this, instead of playing on their knees.

    • @dissimulii

i dunno. don't get me wrong, i love to see goalies trying to play the puck, getting knocked into next week, then crying about it to anyone who will listen (cough cough miller), but this style really only seems to work at lower levels where people stick handle with their heads down. or in the old NHL where the talent pool wasn't as refined as today. not to mention the NHL handing out random suspensions whenever they feel like it. i doubt we'll see this play style ever fully utilized in the future.
