Addy was the doll that got me into American Girl.
I have a Be Forever Addy and a historical one. I like both. The royal blue dress is gorgeous and the pink dress will always hold a special place for me.
How special! My first doll was Kirsten, but since I was only 3, I don’t find myself drawn to her collection as much as Marisol’s (the first doll I *wanted*).
I really prefer the feathered eyebrows as well, and love this dress as well.
She was definitely my favorite of the Beforever changes they made.
I have Beforever Addy and she is one of my absolute favorite dolls! She just has such a sweet face and her hair is just amazing and it’s so fun to play with! I definitely prefer Beforever Addy over Historical Addy. She looks much cuter with the feathered brows in my opinion!
Isn’t she gorgeous? Her hair is absolutely amazing.. it’s hard to describe but I just love it. And the feathered brows alone are a huge improvement over historical Addy. I do love them both though!

The Addy mold is such a striking sculpt! Definitely one of my all time favorites. I recently got the most breathtaking 106 I've ever seen; the painted eyelashes actually work SO well for her!
It is! I’ve been tempted to get 106 - she’s so cute. I would like to add more Addy molds, and my next CYO will definitely be one.
Addy is so cute! I like seeing the side by side comparisons. I also prefer the BeForever Meet outfit. It is so pretty! May add a BeForever Addy to my collection someday.
Isn’t she adorable? I always love seeing the comparisons too, and it’s one of my favorite parts about having a large collection.
I never had an Addy doll, but I read all of her books and poured over her collections in the catalogs. Christmas collection was one of the best, her doll (the tiny fabric one) got me interested in the history of dolls. I had Molly and Kaya, and my family wasn’t in a spot to get any more dolls then.
I loved her books as a child. They did devastate me but educated me a lot.
I'm glad to see that there are other people who like her beforever version just as much as me! If I had to choose I would pick that version. She's definitely on my wishlist- I think she's so pretty!
I highly recommend her! I do love both versions of course but the brows make all the difference for me.
I love Addy! I have a Beforever Addy. I love her so much! I also purchased her original cinnamon pink striped dress from AG a few years ago when it was on sale. I used to have a PC Addy years ago. Your new Addy is gorgeous! My favorite outfit is her stilting outfit. I am working on completing her clothing collection.
I honestly wish I hadn’t sold my original Addy’s meet dress. Perhaps I can find one online for a good price. I’m afraid to go down the Addy collection rabbit-hole because she has so many cute pieces. That stilting outfit is adorable. My personal favorite is the cape cod outfit but I don’t think I’ll be getting that any time soon 🥲

@@EvelynRoseAG I went through all 12 Addy dolls at the American Girl Place Chicago to find the perfect one. She's Gorgeous! I purchased an older version of Addy from eBay (Brand New in the Box). She will be waiting for me when I get home on Sunday! Also, I will be selling my 35th Anniversary Addy doll. 🙂

Her beforever dress really is gorgeous, and I also love the boots. I’ve thought about getting it for my Addy. I have a mid 90s pc addy who was part of my childhood collection and she is still so, so cute.
I wish they would sell the meet outfits separately. I’m sure the blue dress would look beautiful on your Addy. PC Addys are so beautiful, and if I remember correctly, they have the line brows but they are a bit thicker which is better than the one I have.
Addy is so gorgeous, I wish American Girl had more of this beautiful mold. I just recently added an addy mold to my collection I love her so so much ! As always such a well done beautiful review, love all the in depth comparisons and beautiful shots of addy 😍

The day u uploaded this is the day I opened my Addy doll. I had to get another Addy after my 35th anniversary one was stolen. I got a 08 Addy in her original meet dress. Addy means so much to me. Thanks for making this video. Yah bless you sister 🩷 Love seeing other women who collect.

I have a restored PC Addy with a Dallas Doll Co wig. She's a sweetheart!
I think my favorite thing in Addy's collection is her blue kite flying/flower picking dress. Unfortunately I probably won't get one any time soon since they're very hard to come by and expensive nowadays 😢 I also love her little ice cream maker. Addy's stories are so sweet too. I love how her whole family gets knit back together after being separated.
The wig is SO good! And my goodness, secondhand Addy items are so pricey. I don’t think my wallet would like me if I pursued that collection.

Congratulations on your new Addy doll I also have both the historical and beforever Addy. I love both my Addy dolls but I am more connected to my original historical Addy since we have been together longer. The new Addy is beautiful and a little smaller. They both have a place in my collection.

She’s just so pretty however, I’m more attached to my historical pleasant company Addy. I do prefer the blue dress as well and her brownish meat boots. I love Addy’s collection. Her Christmas dress has got to be at the top of the list. Plus I love her birthday surprise, gifts set, and her doll Ida Bean.I could go on, and on forever about Addy! Lol
Oh yes her collection is AMAZING! I wish they would bring some of it back and revitalize her. All of her pieces are so pricey on the secondhand market. I feel the same attachment to my older Addy but that may change with time. I’m glad to own them both.
Hi Evelyn. I can see why you sent the other Addy back. The lips in particular would have bothered me. The new one is much better. Very pretty! I have an original pleasant company TLC doll. She has her meet dress which I love. Her hair is very long but thin from over brushing. She also has one lined eyebrow that has been repainted by a previous owner. It’s not perfect but it gives her character and makes me smile every time I see her. I have a mini Beforever Addy too. I love her meet hairstyle so much and her blue dress. I would definitely consider adding a Beforever Addy to my collection. 😊

I recently got my beforever Addy. I chose it over the historical version for the reasons you mentioned. Made me feel validated! This is the first doll my husband ever looked at and commented that she is kind of cute. Lol

I totally agree with you that BeForever Addy and her blue meet dress are nicer than her originals. That being said, I have an older Addy with silver eye and the original pink dress. I also have a BeForever dress from when the line debuted and for a time AG sold the new meets separately. I also love the meet hairstyle that comes with a new Addy. I’d dearly love to get a BeForever Addy.
The lip paint would have been a deal breaker for me, I can totally see it. It’s quite amazing how different 2 BeForever Addys can look.
Never say never about the Cap May dress. I thought I’d never see one jet alone own one, but I found one in an antiques mall for between $25-30, I think (really can’t remember). I was so excited and shaking as I paid for it. It does happen.

I have a first run PC Addy and all of her outfits except for the stilt-walking one. My favorite is her striped dress with the dark green headband. I did get a Beforever Addy, but just didn’t connect with her, so donated her. I guess I’m just too attached to the original.
I’ve heard that stilt-walking one is hard to find. It’s so cute though! My favorite is probably the classic cape cod dress. I would love to find that one for a good deal.
Oh addy is gorgeous! I love her original meet but this one is nice and I like the little glow up beforever addy has compared to historical addy! Sorry that ag quality control is lacking
Isn’t she stunning? I really love her in the royal blue. It’s a bummer they sent me a not so good one at first, but I am glad they replaced her right away, and I got to compare the two as a bonus!
i actually really needed a video like this so thank you. i’m planning on getting myself addy as a gift for getting trough my first year of college but i could not decide if i should get beforever addy or just order a older addy off ebay or something. i think i’m sold on beforever addy though, just like you said i can’t stand the lined eyebrows lol.

I’d much rather have Addy’s original cinnamon pink meet dress than the beforever one. 😅 I seem to be in the minority there, but that’s fine. You’re right, though, in that she absolutely shines in that deep, rich blue color. For me, that’s satisfied in her original school dress! I’m also just unsure (skeptical?) of the historical accuracy (or proximity thereto) of literally anything in the beforever line. 😂 Beforever Addy’s meet dress seems to be the same or a very similar cut to Cécile’s holiday dress, which is also beautiful, but not very good, historically. And that BUGS me 😅 I just feel like I’ll NEVER be able to prefer a beforever outfit, on principle, until it can prove that it’s more carefully historically accurate than the original, no matter how pretty it is. 🤷♀️ But that is 100% a me problem, lol. (And I know the originals aren’t all historically accurate, either, but they’re so much closer!)
I also wouldn’t call the lined eyebrows “lazy” so much a product of their time. I do, for the most part, prefer the feathered or micro-bladed brows that are on the dolls these days, but I don’t dislike the original lined ones, either.

Okay, one last thing. If beforever Addy has skin tone 33, what is original Addy’s (and 1’s and 18’s) skin tone? Because it’s certainly not the same, right?
(I’m sorry for being so crotchety and negative. I know I’m a stick in the mud who can’t have fun sometimes- these things just really matter to me because of the kind of collector I am, and I wanted to be honest about my thoughts. Please forgive me!)
Aww, you are not crotchety and negative at all! You make great points. I do regret selling my original Addy’s meet dress. It is beautiful and one of my favorite colors. Gosh, I sure wish I could go back and purchase her whole collection new! The Beforever line has certainly produced some questionable outfits (like Julie’s meet for one). I don’t know much about the historical accuracy of outfits but Addy’s new outfit is probably the only one I like. As for the line brows.. yes, probably a sign of the times, but considering they’ve used them for more recent releases like 23 and 24, I’m glad to see them mostly retired.
On Addy’s skin tone - I personally consider the two vastly different. Same with the old light, medium, and dark - much different than the 10, 20, and 30 tones today. Unfortunately they did not code the tones back then so they don’t seem to be considered separate by AG. Frustrating for me as I’m trying to catalog everything for a PDF guidebook.

That is so frustrating that AG doesn't distinguish between those CLEARLY DIFFERENT skin tones. 🙄 I'm so happy and grateful for your hard work with that guidebook!

Do you have any tips to make it go away?
Oh goodness I wish I knew. I have had luck removing the shine on oily limbs by going over them with a dry magic eraser after washing them with a wet one. It is slightly abrasive and seems to work well for shine and shine marks. I’m not sure how that would work on a face, though. You would have to be careful of the face paint when doing so.
