- If your among the thousands of men who don't have long enough wood, you have to see this! But in all seriousness you'll learn to connect to pieces of identical lumber end to end and remain strong using stuff you already have on the shelf, save yourself a trip to Home Depot with this video, try it out, impress your friends, tell them it was our idea, IDGAF.

If you're going to be dumb, you gotta be smart.
Exactly what I needed, and your no bs instruction style is amazing
For those of you who do not know " fuck" is a Canadian abbreviation for finishing up carpentry knowledge ", it is primarily used by craftsman above apprentice level. Great piece of knowledge, perfect when you think of the price of lumber 5 years after the video.
Ah, I'm so glad to know that this word was simply another extension of Canadian knowledgeable politeness!
Just for you to know a "threaded nail" is in fact a screw!!!!
Just for your information a screw nail or screw shank nail are a term of art. They are made of carbon steel or stainless steel. They are generally used in hardwoods or dense materials. They form their own thread in the wood fibers, which increase driving power in hardwoods. In the US today, anything that is threaded is called a screw so in different areas of the English speaking world with the exception of bolts anything that is threaded is called a screw. Americans like to think that they invented everything and often find humor when they think they are superior to someone from another country. In some countries a "screw nail" is still used, despite the effort of standardization. Read history, you might learn something.
@@lmcsquaredgreendale3223 Little sensitive there, snow flake? Over a screw...
No. It's a fuckin' screw, damn it!
Or, as the fuckin' hoser calls it; a threaded nail.
It's his shit to call.
Mine are all threaded nails from now on!
He's just having fun being silly, just like calling a hammer the thumb finder nothing different. Take a chill pill baby boys lol
“Spinney McGoround” is my new band name. And thankfully my 3 yr old wasn’t around for all the verbal flatulence. 😂
Thumb detector made my day!😂
Best tutorial on RUclips. Straight and no bs. And funny. Thanks!
You're gawd damn right!
Really good job. I would never have thought of that method. First time visit to your channel, and I appreciated that you used the whole range of the English language
Words are meant to be spoken!
The Canadians give me strength to carry on
😂
Don’t change bro
I came to see end to end finger joined dimensional lumber. When I realized that was not what you were doing I stayed for the comedy. When I realized what you were actually trying to do I was very very skeptical. Now I'm absolutely amazed enough to include this in my mental toolbox of emergency tricks. Along with some new vocabulary words.
I still don't know if I'm supposed to use my biscuit joiner or my dovetail jig
Can someone explain to me HOW sturdy this is if I’m wanting to use two lengths of 2x6 each side for the building of an AFrame house with a height of 32-34 feet ?
@@norireinfeld5242 SAME QUESTION EXCEPT MINE IS A 2 STALL GARAGE ONLT ONE STORY TALL ,ABOUT 12 FEET TALL I AM USIN 3 BY 5 ABOUT 5 FOOT LONG TOGETHER ABOUT 10 FEET LONG.

THANK YOU, WILL TRY TOMORROW WITH 2 FIVE FOOT 3 BY 5S!!
Thank you from an older woman who specifically told the builder not to cut off the excess timber.

Love your style and your commentary man. This is exactly what I was looking for I appreciate the help.
This man gives me hope.
And hope gave us this man...
That man is me
I like the « do or diY » in the intro 🤩
just found this after doing something similar to a fence post. I extended a wood fence but added a 2 foot privacy panel to the top. I needed to add 2+ feet to the end post of the existing fence and had no interest in digging out the old post and putting in a new one. So instead, I drilled the center of the old post top, inserted 6 inches of a 12 inch 1/2 inch rebar, placed my post U bracket over it and secured it with nails and then added a 2-ft 4x4 piece with it's bottom center drilled out. Pounded it in flush and Boom.... Done. I braced the post with brackets added the side for the horizontal boards and after I stain it, you'd be hard pressed to see the added piece stand out.
Very attractive !
Bryce what did yiou mean by this sentence here "placed my post U bracket over it and secured it with nails and then added a 2-ft 4x4 piece with it's bottom center drilled out." I am trying to do the same thing but note sure how to secure the extended 4x4 post.
Love the colorful metaphor, my kind of instructor! Thanks!!!
Fucking hysterical! 😂 and thanks for the "how to."
Good tip!! I’m going to have to remember that at work next time a board is too short. I’m sure the boss would be thrilled to see me doing that! Haha
Thanks bro
Never heard a "screw" referred to as a "threaded nail," but I wouldn't trust this joinery to hold up a threaded nail.
I loved the video. You really made me laugh. You should have your own show!
This is fucking phenomenal.
Excellent tutorial! I'm getting my boards ready now! Thanks
Oh Heather ❤️ what a beautiful name!
I think adding a little glue right before they seat would be 👌🏼
Well, I found my go-to diy guy.
It is even better with hole jig.Quick and exact the same.
True Canadian. We make it happen and to last.
Great Video Steve, perfect use of adjectives to emphasise the importance of your points. Oh and great tip too. Hilarious
Who the fuck is Steve? I wanna hear his adjectives too!
Really enjoyed this video.. prob one of my favs of all time
That was really handy, thanks
The only things I know about Canada is that they gave us the greatest rock band of all time, Oh, and that it gets cold. One Hip, one not so much...
THUMB DETECTOR... LMAO I JUST NOW GOT IT!
I love the little rascals scene he throws in.😂
"ahh I just gave it a twist" ;)
Keep it like this simple and straight to the point
Thank you!
Fucking dove tail 😂, love the vids brother, dont ever stop!
Thank you this will help me with adding extra fence post when adding a large fence.
I'm not sure what was better the idea or the Canadian banter.
Thanks for sharing .
I was looking for a f---ng way to do this and now I f--ng know.
Damn genius. Thanks for the video.
No, thank YOU Sabrina,, for having such a pretty name
Love the vid and the language, tired of everything having to be so dry with no sense of humor, and I like the use of basic stuff instead of expensive tools and machines that no one knows how to use or can afford!👍
Sure did....I'm always looking for a way to fix with what I have... No time for dovetails nor the patience when nobody sees it. Thanks for this, dude! Keep me laughin' because I'm usually fixing something,
Wow very cool trick Im building a !7x7 garage door and ill try this trick
Good tip. Mate you could emigrate to Australia, you’d fit right it although you might melt cause we’re closer to the sun.🤣🤣🤣

Came for the tutorial stayed for the laughs.
That’s me! I’m the “asshole” lol... learned something new today about drills
Great tip, my friend. That will definitely save me a few bucks and added trips to: (you know where)!
I doubr we'll ever meet-but if we do; I'll buy some beer!! Thank you for an awesome trick!!
Exactly what i need. I mean I've seen ppl doing scarf joints and all other pretty joints, but this will do for someone who only has screws, and a drill. I got piles of scrap wood and this is what i will be using to extend the length of them.
Any chance you would do strength test of this joint?
Well I posted this video 4 years ago and the shed is still standing so I mean that seems pretty good to me!
You should have put a bunch of wood glue in the joint and just the screw would make in very strong joint thanks for for the video
Oops. I just found out I'm an asshole. Thank you for lesson. Seriously.
You're welcome, and don't worry happens to all of us
I cut my deck load bearing posts too short. This video helped me put them back together again. That deck ain't going nowhere now 😉
Back when we could use the word abortion.
