But also, considering how things were at the end i believe we should have given you independence instead of selling you to the americans, who killed nearly 1,5 million filipinos, especially the ones who speaked spanish. Please forgive us for what we did wrong and appreciate, if it's not too much to ask, our legacy in your country. Different generation. My dad told me, they’ve been singing our national anthem in English together with the American anthem every morning. Well, they get to sing a Tagalog song too, Pilipinas Kong Mahal.
This is taught in highschool. I studied in a public high school in metro manila. I graduated way back in 2007. One of our Araling Panlipunan teacher let us hear the national Anthem in English as part of our group dynamics. She even let us hear the spanish version.
My lolo and lola knew the Spanish and English version better than Tagalog. They were even singing the English version every time Pacquiao has a match. When I asked why, they said that’s how it was in school when they were kids 😅

I'm half Filipino and It's a privilege indeed to know all these three languages but living in the UK for more than a decade, I must say that I'm not that fluent in the Filipino language anymore. I was taught Spanish and French at school and things sometimes gets messed up in my head as a multilingual.

I feel bad for José Rizal, some people here consider him not only a filipino national heroe but also a spanish one, as he initially wanted to turn The Philippines into a spanish province with the same rights the spaniards had in Europe so it wouldn't be a colony anymore, but our government ended up killing him. It would have been beautiful if Rizal's wish had been fullfiled. But also, considering how things were at the end i believe we should have given you independence instead of selling you to the americans, who killed nearly 1,5 million filipinos, especially the ones who speaked spanish. Please forgive us for what we did wrong and appreciate, if it's not too much to ask, our legacy in your country. I think recovering spanish would be a great thing for The Philippines, in the end you are part of the great family of Spanishness (Hispanidad). Long live the independence of The Philippines!!

Different generation. My dad told me, they’ve been singing our national anthem in English together with the American anthem every morning. Well, they get to sing a Tagalog song too, Pilipinas Kong Mahal.
This is taught in highschool. I studied in a public high school in metro manila. I graduated way back in 2007. One of our Araling Panlipunan teacher let us hear the national Anthem in English as part of our group dynamics. She even let us hear the spanish version.
My lolo and lola knew the Spanish and English version better than Tagalog. They were even singing the English version every time Pacquiao has a match. When I asked why, they said that’s how it was in school when they were kids 😅

I'm half Filipino and It's a privilege indeed to know all these three languages but living in the UK for more than a decade, I must say that I'm not that fluent in the Filipino language anymore. I was taught Spanish and French at school and things sometimes gets messed up in my head as a multilingual.
