    Wonderful and amazing thank you! My areas are Dartmoor, Exmoor Quantocks and Blackdowns and they're hilly challenges. Was water ever an issue for you? What typical weights were your kit and bikes? What total height did you climb? Anything you would do differently or change on the bikes?

    • @joshandsarahride
      @joshandsarahride  2 года назад

      A really beautiful part of the UK. Really enjoyed the cycling there. Umm, not particularly on this trip. Sticking to roads, it was never that remote and we were covering enough ground to go past water at least a few times a day. It was also pretty mild for the most part. Ha, things we'd change.. there are SO many places we wished we had more time to explore. All of Scotland, Wales and South West really. Could easily have made it a 6 month trip!

    I loved your story a lot. After riding the 2007 PBP in constant rain the whole 89 hours, I had a massive saddle sore that needed lancing after my return to the US. PAINFUL!
    What a brilliant ride. Would you be willing to share the track? This would be my 2003 summer trip.
    Thanks, and happy trails!

      Hey Ferdinand, thanks!! What's the PBP? Can't imagine how painful it must have been. Very fortunate that I've (J) never got it too bad. Must have been fun for the surgeon too. Sure, I've added the rough route to the bio. If you're planning something similar, definitely reach out and we can share some tips! Happy rides

    For women long distance riders; use a pantyliner in your bike shorts and there is a product called "Bag Balm" (some farmers use this on the teets of their cows to prevent chafing and soreness when being milked). Place substance in upper groin area in order to prevent saddle sores. Lots of LIFE lessons in Long Distance Bike Touring; I love it and have been wanting to do one since 2016 (family/financial interruptions).

    • @joshandsarahride
      @joshandsarahride  Год назад

      Hi Tracey, thanks for the advice. In terms of the pantyliner, does it not get a bit misplaced after a day in the saddle? I've found the right-fitting cycle shorts have really helped, there a bit more of an investment but worth it. Have never heard of "Bag Balm", will check it out. I've been using Assos cream which again is amazing. I hope you can get in some touring soon, have you got a route or trip planning in the pipeline?

    • @StarEssences
      @StarEssences Год назад

      @@joshandsarahride Panty liners should be changed daily (as they are throw aways) and are there for more in the purpose of hygenic reasons for the bike shorts and woman rider. It also could lead to less laundry costs. (having to wash bike shorts less often).

    • @joshandsarahride
      @joshandsarahride  Год назад

      @@StarEssences yes I can see the benefits when it comes to less laundry, a plus for multi-day trips. I try to avoid any extra materials apart from shorts to avoid chaffing and bunching though.
