    We should all be so lucky as to be identified by the sound of a single note. Some players are so well defined that their entire musical journey can be heard in a single note they play. Tone is in the fingers. Tone is in the mind. Effects can be a great way of expressing emotions or creating textures. The Dark Side is about creating and adding different tones to your symphony. It’s in your tone. It’s about your tone. It’s above your tone. It’s metasymphonic. It’s the things you can’t create with your fingers or mind. All the textures that define an essence; in one pedal.

      Dear mr keeley, thank you for designing and engineering this tone shaping masterpiece.I have one request, could you please make a hi watt 103 inspired pedal ? A pedal that can be used to boost and eq a blackface mid scooped amp into hi watt big clean territory ? Then the dark side would really shine. thank you for you consideration.

    The Rotary speaker setting is to die for that comes right after the 3:33 mark. I think it's one of the most gorgeous demos of that sound I've heard Mike. Bravo man. Then you create another piece of unique magic at 4:42. Wow. I think I'm responsible for a few thousand of the video views... ;-)

      Robert Keeley you share responsability with Mike for lots of views, great pedals into the hands of a great player! Fan of both of you guys. Have you thought of a Fripp inspired workstation? Would absolutelly love it!

    • @RobertTroyKeeley
      @RobertTroyKeeley 7 лет назад +4

      Tell me what you'd like to see in a Fripp pedal. The team and I are huge Fripp fans. That would be a labor of love.

    • @organizedchaos
      @organizedchaos 7 лет назад +4

      Big Muff/Foxxtone/Sustainer combo fuzz, some sort of Flanger/Filtering for Fripp's metallic sound on Bowie's Scary Monsters and Heroes, and SpaceEcho/Looping Delay to mimic Frippertronics.

    • @jorgetenamusic
      @jorgetenamusic 7 лет назад +3

      KeeleyElectronics OMG! Thanks to organizedchaos I've just seen your answer. I can't believe I didn't see it sooner, sorry!!
      I like what he suggests. I saw an interview with Visconti and he described how Fripp recorded Heroes... positioning himself on different points in front of the amp using feedback as his tone, genius!! Something that could emulate that would be amazing!! You could experiment with harmonizers, delay/loopers too
      It's difficult to think in just one workstation cause Fripp has so many incredible sounds.

      Hey, question-- if I had to record guitar directly through an interface, along with a few fedals like this one, a wah and an OD, would it sound good?
      Or do I need to have a preamp pedal, cab sim?

    • @rickmolyneux9031

      Keeley Electronics it goes without suggestion. when you have a history of building phenomenal gear year after year. your imagination hits the soul of guitar and players with veracity and aclaimation beyond those around you. congratulation for placing the 80s in a box of rocks. so that we may enjoy being stoned yet again. without the need for rehab or subsequent interventions. unless it's not morally beneficial to play guitar as a life choice. who knows what the future. brings. I. believe I ll take my box of rocks with me to foil yet again modern drudgery of music. thanks Mr keel. take us out Robert and keep us sane in an otherwise boring existence

    I have a question and I really need help. So I just got my Keeley Dark Side and im not sure if it came with a malfunction or not but ive been going through so many videos on this pedal and it seems like no one is having this problem. So when Im on the delay mode when i change to certain levels my pedal is like lagging or having a latency effect. Like when i play a string itll play it like 1 second late especially on LEVEL 4-5. Im not sure if this is part of the pedal or what but can you please let me know. Like do i send it back or what??

    • @James57AOL
      @James57AOL 7 лет назад

      Kevin, I m out of the chamber for that kind of talk. I support her and this is a matter of who cares for whom. Though I do not push the subject, I do from time to time. Offer her reward for allowing me reward. And the kids and the grandkids and the friends and so on. It truly is like they say when you take on a spouse, You must care for the world or be dismissed as a heathen and suffer the duration of it all.
      Now if you ve been married for a great length of time. you have a full on understanding, If you ve had kids and their grown you surely understand all facets of a mutual relationship and how its is constructed, improved or if it applys uninproves after a period of error judgements from one or both.
      The point really is that the satisfaction of gear must weigh into the satisfaction of the spouse from both sides of the realm But, in most cases, if you spend an exorbient amount for the gear time and time again in a short period of time. She ll eventually bite when you go to pet her. Now that's a crude and immoral way to express the subject but, in truth spouse s do know the hows and whys. And I anticipate that your relationship has enough of the stability factor that both of you have a full grasp of necessary focus and direction to whats going to be the solution to any given concern. Albeit if you take the time to make it a minor instead of a major enfraction of relationship code of ethics. Now this all may sound a bit obsurd, but, You ve seen the redundancys and the resolutions of all levels of disagrements by the first 6 years and the 7 year itch and the 10 year resolutions of life time commitments. After 10 years you will live in that relationship the rest of your natural life in one form or the other. especially if children or family is involved beyond spouse and spousett.
      In my concerns I try to trade, to buy lesser cost perfect gear, or even make an effort to wait till that right time for acquisitions. I m sure you do the same in the many facets of gear. From picks to that once in a life time amp or that prime hand me down heirloom that will always be a conversation piece for generations to come no matter if its played traded or just left as a wall ornament till someone else comes along and the need is greater than the want.
      Now believe it or not this is just an acknowledgement of the ideas that are generally ingested by all male guitarists and married, relationship and external necessities that come after the relationship evolves in to mutual fun and bun service. Enjoy your lack of rebuttal efforts from your spouse ultimately when the time is at an optimum for effect. You will open your eyes and your other necessities and divvy out the correct amount of reprisal and effectual praise and admonishment all in one moment. So if the guitar is nt an issue then hang on to if for a very long time and learn the art of trade and bargin. Or live in the dog house with your gear on those cold winter nights. Possibly burning the wood of the most of your gear to warm that 30 below open wind dog house.
      Or give her a new car. is what I did to allow my own dignity to be elevated above the dog, after the dog bit me. I learned my place inside the dog house while dogy gets the bed, the heater and the best meals of the day.
      But, I get gear. So we all can live life in harmony. Till I get the concerns of eyes upon my playing negated by spouse alarm systems. and doggy poo clean up detail.

    Those string bends seem like effort. Are those heavy gauge strings?

    After I get one of these pedals,,,,I may find it hard to go to work. ( Heck, I need a break anyway)

    So in theory, I could plug my Möbius into this and drop effects from that between the fuzz and mod.

    I bought this pedal and it wasn't cheap...HAD IT CAME WITH a booklet showing the position settings for different Pink Floyd sounds then it would have hit the SPECTACULAR!!! mark...now if had a shown a few of the basic sound settings it would have went a long way in helping to NAVIGATE this piece of equipment...as it is its complicated to JUST FIGURE IT OUT....so it missed a huge opportunity for the learning the pedals potential aspect which would help you ENJOY the pedal instead of getting FRUSTRATED with it....

    Amazing pedal. As expansive as the tonal options seem to be (and notwithstading the PF nod), would be awesome to have more than one fuzz circuit in there - a fuzz face and a tone bender maybe.

    Been thinking of ditching my TC Electronics Flashback and replacing it solely with this. Anyone know if this could hold up as an everyday delay as well? I can see this as my go to pedal.

      recycledcitizen yes using it as just fuzz and delay is great! The delay adds some kinda... something to it. In the best way tho. This is one of 4 pedals I'm using and honestly I could get away with just this and some reverb. Very cool and not at all just for psychedelia
